The Perfect Solution to the Boltshot.

The Boltshot as it is right now.

10 shot ammo clip
11 shot kill(WTF)
1 shot kill(Charged)(WTF)
Quick charge
Bloom
Fast Cooldown

As it is right now, there is hardly no reason to use the boltshot’s basic single shot mode of fire because you wont get a kill unless the opponent has been recently damaged. The charged mode is what makes it so OP because hardly anyone uses the single shot and then its a 1SK. It should have been a tweaked Mauler with an alternate mode of fire.

Here is the what i think should be the perfect solution to the Boltshot

10 shot ammo clip
9 shot kill
2 shot kill(Charged)
Tweaked Charge
Bloom
Slower cooldown

This makes the boltshot less OP and makes the Single shot more viable for weakening the opponent before charging the gun for the blast. The slower cooldown will make the Boltshot’s charge even more risky, so people won’t be racking up insane triple kills.

The Boltshot is an 11 shot kill with a 10 round mag because it’s not supposed to be a standalone weapon. It’s supposed to be a cleanup weapon with the easiest headshots in the game. This is how the Halo 2 Magnum was, 12 round mag with a 13 shot kill.

no like others have said that would make it worse than the PP and make the boltshot pointless. also people keep forgetting the increased kill times, if it wasn’t a one shot you would die long before you could start charging it again.

I think the charge should use up the whole clip. That way you run the risk where if you miss you either change weapons or reload leaving pretty much open for death

No-one would use it? No-one should be using a LOADOUT WEAPON for one-shot Kills like a Shotgun.

Making it a two-shot kill is the only logical fix, along with anything else they might choose to do alongside that.

Plus, was the Mauler useless in H3? I don’t think so, it is perfectly fine to finish up with a melee.


Personally, I’d give it a longer charge and less of a cooldown, limiting max damage to a deshielding so that you could hit someone with the blast and finish them with one of your last five shots if you’re out of melee range. If you’re in melee range, you can finish with a melee and still dominate people unequipped/prepared for it, like a Mauler, but you won’t win against a Sword, Hammer, Scattershot or Shotgun, which you shouldn’t do anyway.

The only reason I can see a nerf for this weapon being undesirable is that people use it, love it and aren’t willing to see it be nerfed.

It’s not as though anyone’s trying to nerf it to the point of being uesless anyway.

The Halo 4 magnum can be used as a standalone weapon, infact, the Halo 4 magnum is more powerful than every loadout precision weapon.
