the (perfect?) ranking system

Halo Reach and Halo 3 combined.

Have recruit - inheritor.
(Not the exact ranks obvi)

And on the ranked playlists, you get your 1-50.

Ranked will play like Arena, with seasons and such. Make it just a tad bit easier to gain the 1-50 than it was in halo 3.

After every season, your 1-50 gets scrapped BUT not totally.

Example…season 1 you manage to get to lvl 44.

So that means season 2 you will be averaged out and play with other players 40-45.

The more seasons you play, the more averaged out your “true skill” will become allowing you to play with the people at your skill level.

NO SEASONS. Seasons were the very reason why nobody played Arena - too confusing for players new to the game and who don’t check online forums, and too time-consuming for someone who just wanted that number or symbol next to their name.

I don’t understand your effect of seasons in the example. It seems like it would just be normal ranking as it was in Halo 3, where the more you play, the more averaged your trueskill became.

lol this.

I only played arena ONCE because of seasons. The dedication required to keep on to your rank was tiring.

Wait…so is the competetive communitys cries and tears because they want a number next to them, or because they want a more competetive game? This system allows you to play with people on ur skill, so u can become better, and eventually be able to beat kids with higher skill.

You can easily do that with what Halo 3 had. No seasons. IDK what’s so hard about that.

Also, answer my other question. What are seasons used for in your example? It sounds like they aren’t even used, since you say that in Season 2, you play against people who were close to your skill during Season 1, and your rank averages out. That’s exactly what Halo 3 had, only without the word season.

Having seasons de-motivates boosters/derankers and so on.

That’s what they are for, and if you have seasons it helps not screw around with your true skill seeing as how it would accumulate your stats, and allow u to match up with even or semi better than u players.

You seem to be a pro-numbers man instead of a pro-competetive man

I could not care any less about how boosters affect my game. If they want to derank, fine by me - I will win the game. If they want to cheat to get a high rank, I don’t care - it won’t affect me. With Arena’s divisions, boosters affected other players’ positioning because Arena was based on a percentage. That’s like in a class that has curved grades, I’m sure as hell reporting someone who cheats, but if the grades aren’t curved, I couldn’t care less.

I don’t see how having seasons that reset will not screw around with your trueskill. Having one “season” that never changes has no way of messing with the trueskill, but having one that changes will ultimately change your trueskill each month.

Seasons took away the majority of the players who would have played Arena. Thus, I have nobody to play against. Searching as an Onyx takes hours because nobody plays.
