The Perfect Ranking System for Halo 4

My idea for the Halo 4 ranking system is to combine the old True Skill and XP system with the Credit system with Reach. This would work by only earning XP by winning matches and earning credits like you would with Reach, but this time, the credits don’t help you level up, much like COD Points in Black Ops and with these credits, you’ll be able to purchase your goods from the Armoury, just like Reach. This would work because people will be far more reluctant to win matches as they will only be able to rank up by winning matches. The True skill system will come into place with Ranked matches and work just like Halo 2/3, but maybe a bit more refined.

I think this system will work much better than Reach’s current system, as it lends itself to far more opportunities with Halo 4, such as creating “gambling” like game-modes for Halo 4, just like Black Ops. (I know I’m mentioning BLOPS a lot, but trust me, I am a Halo fan at heart) I think with Halo 4 using this system, 343i could use custom games the community makes to create “gambling” game modes, where players would gamble their credits to try to earn more. These game-modes could be changed every month as the community creates thousands of new maps and game modes every day.

That’s just my idea for the Halo 4 ranking system, you can disagree if you want, but I’d love to gamble my credits in Halo 4, that would be a lot of fun. Who wouldn’t want a “Gun game” in Halo 4

I have a better idea. Bring back the Halo 2 ranking system.

I want the Halo 2/3 system as well, but I’d like to combine the two system together to please both parties.

i never liked the fact that you had to win games to rank, because you don’t always get good players to get you the “W” to rank up so a combination of 2/3/reach would be nice

Competitive Playlists - Halo 2 Ranking System

Social Playlists - Reach’s Ranking System

Boom goes the dynamite.

I’ve said this before, but that is not an excuse. Unlike in Reach, the 1-50 system teams you with and against people around your level, therefore everyone has around the same skill. It’s actually very simple and makes a lot of sense, I don’t see how people do not understand it actually works.

Yes, but that was incredibly flawed. The pure trueskill system can rank a player in less than 10 matches, and consistently match them with like-skilled players. You don’t need visible, skill-based rank to do that.

I’d really like the two ranking system to come together, it really lends itself to more fun game-modes, similar to wager matches in BLOPS.

nope

How is it flawed??? Whats wrong with the true skill rank visible also? H2 system worked fine. Better players were higher ranks, it -Yoinking!- worked.

Stopped at True Skill

Well I think the True Skill system is a must of future Halo titles.

halo 2 ranking system > trueskill system.

^ Pretty much this. ^

So long as all the armor is attainable by anyone by earning credits then having a competitive playlist for rank is fine with me. Though I think you should still earn credits in both competitive and social playlists.

I’d also like to see some achievements be attached to armory completion. Nothing so ridiculously hard though that they can’t be attained by the casual player. Were armor to be attached to achievements then I’d like to see some in each campaign, firefight, and matchmaking.

Even if it were something like:

Helmet/Campaign achievement
Shoulders (separate ones for left and right)/Firefight
Chest, Knees (separate ones for each)/Matchmaking

This would give you a set of armor that once completed would easily be recognized as you having gotten all of those achievements and played each facet of the game.

I bring that up because I have several friends that have barely played the campaign or firefight in Reach. So in this respect if you want that armor, you have to play the other parts of the game.

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

agreed

I disagree to the fullest.

It doesn’t work and never has, it’s a disgrace to its own name.

I could not agree more also if you lose you get nothing (credit/exp etc wise).

Social playlist’s using Reach’s ranking system would be similar to Halo 3’s playlist progression system which in turn would be more rewarding if it’s still tied into unlocking armour permutations etc.
