Halo 4 (at launch) clearly had an issue with both lack of maps available… as well as variety in Matchmaking. This is partially due to the fact that 343 designed the sets of maps seperately (4v4 and 8v8 maps, 5 each)… this causes matchmaking to be less diverse and forces a wider split between communities that play the game.
Here is the ideal map selection I would like to see at launch, it helps blend the Standard Gameplay, Casual Gameplay, and Competitive Gameplay all into one experience.
Maps
7 Competitive Maps (2-10 Players)-
-1 Guardian/Lockout-esque map (2-8 players, 4-room asymmetrical)
-2 Symmetrical Maps (4-10 Players, Similar to Haven, Pit, or Narrows)
-1 Arena Style Map (2-8 Players, similar to Skyline or Midship)
-Midship Remake (2-8 Players, Scaled perfectly since Sprint WONT be in the game ;])
-2 Asymmetrical Maps (4-10 Players, ranges anywhere from Isolation to Abandon)
3 Medium Size Maps (8-16 Players, works well in 4v4 and 8v8 gametypes)
-2 Storm the Beach Style Maps (High Ground, Last Resort (8-12 Players)
-1 Symmetrical Map (Default Sandbox, for example, (10-16 Players)
5-6 BTB Maps (12-16+ Players)
-3 BIG Symmetrical Maps (Rangnorak, Longbow, Shatter, Rats Nest)
-3 BIG Asym Maps (Sandtrap, Orbital, etc.)
