Imagine. You insert the disk for a Halo game. It launches. Says press () to start. Once pressed, takes you aboard the UNSC Infinity, where you see other players, roaming around, doing whatever. You can see their ranks, and their K/D on top of their heads. Now you realize, you’ve got no one to play ranked with, and are afraid of solo q’ing (like me lol). So what do you do? You walk around and interact with the other Spartans, arrange a Fireteam, and enter a match. Now you’ve made more play mates :). That was quite easy.
Really wish a community menu hub thing gets implemented into to Halo 6. Man the feeling of being able to always have a team would be so good. Would really help everyone out, to rank up, find more friends, and everything else.

EDIT: The combo (For both sides this works quite well)

Maybe not in the main menu, though. I think there could be a “Database” of sorts to find Spartans who are actively looking for a match. Maybe not a 3D view or anything, maybe like a database of gamertags (of who is online right now) where you can filter K/D ratios, most played playlists, native language, mic use, etc. Granted, you would have to fill out some information to make that work, like “what language do you speak” and stuff like that. overall, the system would be pretty intuitive and extremely useful in ensuring you don’t have n00bs on your team. (no offense to the n00bs) There would also probably be true skill ranking limitations where you can only find players close to your rank. It would be terrible to throw Onyx players in with silver players.
I’d personally rather have just a background, in-game or concept art, with minimalistic menu items that take a minimum amount button presses to get where I want. The last thing I want between me and the gameplay is an unnecessarily complicated interface.

I just don’t like the idea of having tracked stats, such as K/D, plastered over everyone’s head for all to see. Stat tracking causes enough anxiety as it is, not to mention stat-padding behavior.
Reminds me a bit of what Blizzard wanted to do with the Hyperion in the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty campaign. I don’t have the game so I don’t know how far they got, but the idea was that instead of having a menu to start missions from, you’d actually walk around the ship and interact with the crew.
I’m not really sure it would work for multiplayer or for the game itself. It would be pretty cumbersome to use just to operate the game; and if it were a social space, then it’d be a bit like the Union Room in Pokemon FR/LG (i.e. a big empty room with barely anything at all to do). Could make for a neat campaign level, though, like the non-combat levels Osiris had in Halo 5. Some people didn’t like those, but IMO 343i just didn’t develop the concept enough, and it’d be interesting to see it taken further.
Honestly I think keeping it simple would rather be best. Halo 2 and 3 had the best main menus in my opinion. All I know is that 343 needs to make better main menus, Halo 5s is just terrible. I hate logging into that game because of its main menu.
I’d love to have the Halo 5 Beta main screen back, with the planet and the Spartans walking around…maybe have your own multiplayer Spartan standing off to the side doing something.
