So everyone knows that the Halo tv show…was unique and pretty much no halo fan liked it. But could they have prevented that? In my opinion these are 2 ways they could have made it different and better.
1.Made it tie together with the Halo infinite story. Instead of having to do flashback mission having a show to explain all of that stuff would be awesome. I know this option would only really appeal to halo fans but I mean that is what they are supposed to be doing.
2.Make a show where every couple episodes they tell a story about a different important figure. They could make the show so filled with awesome lore and we could revisit old characters. Maybe a episode on some of noble teams best missions, or maybe an episode about how Captain Lasky became the captain of the ship Infinity, or best of all a episode about the early spartens.
Those are just really what I would have expected from a halo show…
It’s recently been proven by The Last of Us on HBO that you can create a TV show that follows the video game source pretty closely and still get plenty of attention from both casual TV viewers and the gamer fans who helped build the dang franchise from the get-go. All it takes is having writers who actually care about the lore.
For some reason, 343 again chose to create a completely different story line. They could have instead cleared up their previous writing from any of the games or perhaps did a real reboot for the show only. Anyway you look at it, the show was really a big chance to explain what their actual vision was with Halo in general, but they instead decided to put it in the ‘Silver Timeline’ universe.
It was a real shame because I truly thought the production quality, prop and set designs were insanely good and the actors were great to watch but that story line… oof… lol what the heck happened in the writing room?
I think for a Halo show to work it needs to be either an accurate re-telling or a canonical original story.
Paramount’s Halo, being neither, felt like an entirely diferent franchise with words like “Spartan”, “Reach”, “Keyes”, and “Halo” thrown into the mix so there would be a reason for people to bother watching it.
As long as they stay true to canon, I’m not to fuzzed about what stories they tell.
I mean, in a way it does show their vision of halo.
A generic current year sci-fi story that has no idea what made it popular in the first place.
The heavy handed Halsey/UNSC bad, emotional chief, and magic forerunner mcguffins are all 343 tropes.
Yeah, they should have just told their own story and left main events alone.
The TV show needed to be what mandalorian was to star wars.
