Okay we all know that Halo 3 had the best armor unlock system right? What if we could get 343i to take that idea and make it better? Not only would we have armor unlocked through leveling and achievements but armor in campaign levels similar to the Halo 3 campaign skulls? Each level would have 5 full different armor sets depending on the difficulty you were playing on and each armor set would spawn in different locations making it harder to get good looking armor, here’s and example:
For arguments sake let’s say the mission is Sierra 117 so here’s how it would work:
Easy Difficulty:
Mark VI Helmet: Located behind the debris Master Chief landed with.
Mark VI Body: Located on the ledge right behind where the first Phantom drops off its troops.
Normal Difficulty:
EOD Helmet: Located behind the rock to the right of the entrance of the first cave of the level.
EOD Body: Located in the stone Cylinder across from the Jackal Snipers across the river.
Heroic Difficulty:
ODST Helmet: Located aboard the first Phantom Dropship, shoot it down to have the helmet land at your feet.
ODST Body: Located behind SGT. Johnson’s Crashed Pelican.
Legendary Difficulty:
Noble Helmet: Located on the top floor of the first building in the section where you rescue SGT Johnson, it is guarded by 2 Brute Chieftans.
Noble Armor: Free SGT Johnson and kill every hostile in the area, then return to Johnson’s cell to get the armor.
LASO:
Helioskrill Helmet: Hidden next to the first family of monkey’s in the stage.
Helioskrill Armor: Make your way out of the map at the end of the level, it’s in the hole where Crow’s Nest is supposed to be.
Then for Visors and Weapon Skins you can put them in ONI Brief Cases and hide them throughout the multiplayer maps, also I don’t mean do this method for ALL the armors, we need to get something for ranking up and getting achievements after all, but just remove the cosmetics from Req Packs and do something like this, Halo 6 would be awesome!
EDIT: Also 343i should make a slot for players to make their own armor and then place it in Forge for their friends to unlock, you’d also have up to 10 custom unlock slots and would be able to delete armor sets to make room for better looking armor.

I prefer the scavenger hunt style, because ANYBODY can beat campaign on Legendary/LASO but it takes some serious determination to dig through every crevasse and bush in every level of the campaign just to get something towards %100 armory completion.

I like this idea better. They should be earned through feats of skill, wit, and determination, not found. Hopefully the RNG unlocks are scrapped for Halo 6, though. It’s terribly dull.

Halo 3 was released in september of 2007, we still have a full year to hear about it, wouldn’t be surprised if it was announced this upcoming holiday season.

I’m not saying ALL armor in Halo 6 should be unlocked this way, I’m saying that at most 65-70 out of the most likely 200+ armor sets in Halo 6 should be unlocked this way. 5 per campaign level is 60 assuming there are 12 campaign levels. In my post I said that as well as Achievements and levling up, we should get this, scavenger hunt, it’d not only make the campaign somewhat worth playing, but actually add an incentive to beat campaign on every difficulty including laso.

Fair enough, perhaps I did not see the part where you mentioned that unlockable armor would also be included. Thanks for your kind logic here. Halo waypoint kinda lacks that at times. Though I think 200+ armor pieces is a bit much. Maybe just 2 sets per campaign missions that are themed around the scenery for that campaign mission. One set of armor for legendary, and then one set for laso. Too many armors can be a bad thing, because they all start looking too similar. Unlike Halo 3 and Halo Reach, where you could definitely tell the pieces apart.

Well I mean let’s face it, if 343i get’s carried away, and let’s be honest, WHEN 343 gets carried away they’re gonna make a literal s&^t ton of armor, I personally would like there to be one set of armor for each difficulty in the campaign because then I can avoid the god awful multiplayer. lol. But seriously, I like having things to look for, not just doing achievements, and I’m sure a lot of other people feel that way too. After all look at how popular skull hunting was in Halo 3, imagine armor hunting in Halo 6, it’d at least make the campaign tolerable despite the level design and art style because you as a player get something out of it.
Base armor should be unlocked through regular gameplay. Skins or special armors (Like Buck’s armor Halo: CE -H2/3 Master Chief armor etc) should be found or unlocked via achievements or commendations. For instance:
Achilles Helmet - Spartan Company needs to accumulate 10,000 headshots
Achilles Gauntlets - Spartan Company needs to accumulate 5,000 melee medals
Achilles Armor - Spartan Company needs to achieve 50,000 total kills
Achilles Legs - Spartan Company needs to Hijack 1,000 vehicles
I think the req system should only be used for weapons in warzone and you should get armour through doing certain things in the campaign and multiplayer.

Fair point. Weapons should be able to be purchased in game for req points that are accumulated for each match. Better weapons cost more RP, which means having to perform better in the current match. There was a game that worked like this, but I can’t remember the name. It was a fairly old game, I believe. One could purchase weapons, vehicles, and upgrades with points that were earned during a match.

Hmm, perhaps because this discussion is primarily based around the assumption that elites won’t be playable for Halo 6. I’m sure if it was confirmed, this discussion may be quite different.
