GoW4 could be the deciding factor on what entails in the next adventure of the Halo Franchise. If GoW4 succeeds then expect 343 to “innovate” halo back to its former self. Only time will tell how the cards will play out, all we can do now is wait…
EDIT:
For the un-informed, After Gears of war 3, the Coalition, (formerly known as Black Tusk Studios) attempted to change pretty much anything that made Gears of War, well Gears of War (sound familiar?) with their new installment to the franchise Gears of War Judgement… It was an utter failure.
After all the backlash received from the fan base the Coalition then decided with their newest release (GoW4) that they needed to return to the GoW formula. So far GoW4 has received positive reviews in most aspects of its game (including its multiplayer).
The question now is, will it’s population hold the even with it’s slower gameplay? And If it does will Halo be next to return to it’s natural state or will it continue to “evolve”?
What? What are you on about?

Edit: You aren’t explaining yourself well. You seem to be operating under the assumption I have a thorough knowledge of gears 4 when I would rather cut a finger off than play through a gears game.
How did gears go back to its roots? From what I understand this game adds many new concepts and ideas, including micro transactions and a -Yoink- unlock system. That’s about all I know about it. So what has gears done to go “back to roots” and why do you think 343 needs to do that? I believe h5 was a commercial success and made tons of money.

As CoverMyMeds stated, what are you on about ? The Gears forums are on fire with players raging about the unlock system, the game is exceptional though, great story and solid mm, but it’s a third person cover based shooter, not a first person shooter with shields etc. Is it the fact Gears is doing well by going straight to the top five most played ? I cannot see what you mean.

Im more so talking about the way the Coalition chose to tackle GoW4 compared to how 343 chose to tackle H5. One returns more to its roots gameplay wise while the other deviates from its past.
What I’m trying to say is, if GoW4 succeeds by returning to it’s root’s then it wouldn’t be crazy to think Halo will be the next to follow that trend.

He means that if gears of war succeeds useing it’s old formula of gameplay, then 343 might like the idea of going back to halos old formula seeing they could make more money on that.
I kind of agree actually, triple A game devs tend to have that trend, but we will see how these games unfold.
Edit: I have no idea what gears is doing, I just know from the trailers gameplay looks like it did when I used to play it. I don’t know if it changed between 3-4, but if the old formula works gameplay wise, why change it?
GoW and Halo are completely different games, the only similarities being guns and futuristic tech.
Gears already feels slow paced, and the weapons are extremely innacurate. I don’t see how this resembles Halo 5 at all, nor how 343 will use Gears 4 to influence the development of Halo 6.

I agree.
Very much.
GoW Judgement came with my Xbox One, and I just couldn’t play it, man.

Game-play wise, it didnt really change compared to the original trilogy. GoW Judgement tried to abandon the core GoW gameplay and failed miserably, GoW4 resembles the original trilogy.
Halo 5 generated a lot of money but it was far from a commercial success in the eyes of many people.

Thank you, that’s more of an explanation. I agree it might influence them, but Gears has only gone back in some ways. It plays faster, it still has 5v5 and it’s unlocks work pretty much like Halo 5, you can play and grind or pay with micro transactions. In what ways do you feel Gears 4 returned to it’s roots ?

“People” don’t get to determine commercial successes. At least not the way I define commercial success. Commercial success = money. In this regard, you might be right about gears 4 as it has micro transactions that are worse than req packs AND you get to buy maps.

You don’t need to buy the maps. You can buy them as part of the season pass if you want them to play with friends or test early or something like that. The maps will be free to everyone on rotation from what I undrstand.

Gears 4 MT’s are WAY less intrusive compared to H5. The only aspect they truly affect is Horde mode (PVE) which I’ll admit does suck but as long as they dont have control over the PvP then I’m more or less fine with it. From what I can tell all you can buy with the MT’s are EXP boosts, weapon skins, characters and Horde modifiers. Out of those 4, only one affects gameplay.
GoW4 will also kind of offer free maps. Whenever a new dlc pack comes out all players will have the maps that come with the DLC UNTIL a new DLC comes out. Once a new DLC comes out then the previous DLC maps will be replaced with the new DLC maps. It’s kinda weird and confusing but it’s still better than nothing I guess, plus it lets you preview the maps out.

You and everyone else seems to think the fact that these games play differently means that they act differently business wise. But thats not the case as explained before the Coalition and 343 are owned by Microsoft 343 changed the gameplay and is failing where the Coalition used the gameplay that worked. Now we wait and see if satying true to your game works better than changing for the sake of getting that new crowd of kids.

I wouldn’t necessarily say 343 is failing. They have e-sport (esport?) events with massive prize pools, sell a lot of merch, loot crates editions, etc… It’s just attracting a different crowd.
Halo 6 needs blood, more detail in design, better customisation system similar to reach and 4, armour should be obtained by earning them instead of luck. Spartan charge, thruster, stabilisation, ground pound and the weapons stats should stay the same as halo 5 because it’s perfect.
This is where the analogy misses its point; Halo4 and GoW4 are the literal “New company, new game.”
Comparing H5 to GoW4, and ignoring how H5 does indeed go back to much of its roots, is just silly.
H5 is what we learned from H4, while going back to many of the “roots” of Halo. GoW4 has the benefit of hindsight of not just H4, but CoD, BF and a few others. Campaign or MP.
Just so you know, if you played GoW on an invested level, then its gameplay and campaigns vary just as much as Halo’s do. Judgement-Reach, GoW3-H3, GoW2-H2, all share a very similar community reaction. If you only run Normal campaign/Horde difficulties and jump-shotgun around the map, you’re not invested!
I will put this hit in, GoW4 has a feeling of teamwork throughout its core due to the revive feature. Horde mode is superfun because we work together. Warzone/WZFF is lacking a big feeling of teamwork without being able to revive some of the time like we can in campaign. That we level up in selfish ways also puts a damper on cooperation of non-fireteam lobbies.
Most Arena games should not have revive, perhaps Breakout and a few Action Sack games should, most certainly WZFF, and it would at a layer in WZ/WZA.
Having said that, might as well concentrate discussion, please

Halo 6 without abillities and slower gameplay…
