About a month ago I switched from wearing green to the default blue color because I like the color blue. This month I experimented with crazy team color combinations and settled on blue for teammates and purple for enemies. Five games ago in Tactical Slayer an opponent wore blue in a swat match and now I feel like a complete jerk for wearing a color that is going to give new players a disadvantage.
Here are the photos. Look at the last one. I blew up the 1080p picture by 4x using Nearest Neighbor so there’s no added anti-aliasing. That player is clearly more blue than purple.

The zoomed in screenshots are also insane. This is an edge case but it’s an example of how bad the outline system can be. I enjoy the gameplay of Halo: Infinite but this is a really bad flaw. The screenshots of players without the outlines on look nice. Why can’t the game always look like that?
Which photos have the outline system? Because it seems like none of them have the reflecting shields colors, unless that’s your point. I feel like the new outline system works great, and we can still have red against blue all the time, and we get to see the enemy just as well.
Honestly I like how Splitgate does it. You and your team have your custom skins, while the enemy team has whatever color you have designate as enemies forced on them.
Admittedly I did get confused even in it the other day cause my teammates skin was red.
Compare them side by side. Open them in a new window and switch between them. In theater you can turn the outlines on and off so those duplicate screenshots show players with it on and off. Open them up in separate tabs and switch between them. Look at the last picture in that album. That’s the difference the outlines are making. Even with it on the opponent is clearly much more blue than purple.
You missed my second point. How on earth can I enjoy wearing blue when it gives me a literal, palpable advantage in some situations? I can’t. Blue is ruined in this game. Anyone looking to get better at this game has to be careful about what they set their friendly team outline color to so an opponent can’t confuse them. Every single player is given the blue me and my opponent are wearing in this screenshot.
I changed off of using Red armor for a while, cause it was confusing me sometimes thinking my teammate was enemy, and I didn’t want my teammates confused either. I changed back though, cause I like Red.
Okay, comparing them side by side, I can see the outline. But, this still isn’t a problem to me because in previous titles, the shields would flare up yellow anyways, which to me looks worse. In Infinite, you can pick a brighter color if you can’t see. Playing on a map with lots of red? Start playing with Yellow outline.
I think your point is that it’s ugly, but when you barely notice them from a distance without it, who cares? Maybe at some point we can have forced color playlists, but until then the outline system does make the game more clear. Shoot all with red outline, which is pretty similar to shoot all in red.
