I know they won’t bring back red and blue armour. Asking for that is pointless now that we know they want to sell armour coatings.
But I would really like the option to turn off enemy outlines. From what I heard from colour blind players, the current system makes it hard for them to tell who’s on what team, even if the change the colour. Even I have trouble telling. But I think adding the *OPTION to turn off the outlines for enemies on would help.
It would be a better indicator. Where allies glow, but enemies don’t

Who even notices the skins during gameplay?? The only time is right at the beginning before the match….bring back red v blue after the opening montage of your team mates and only during game play…

No, it CANNOT be optional. Enemy outlines need to be removed entirely. If it’s optional, sweaty players will keep them on because lets be honest they would have a massive advantage. The outlines look extremely bad, they detract from the beautiful art style because your HUD is always covered in these lines, plus the whole reason they chose this system was to show off armor customizations and colors, but yet you can’t see anything but the red outline most times lol.
And as for gameplay, it takes away the need to be observant. You can just see all enemies without the slightest bit of focus, even those which you would definitely not ever notice due to bushes or distance, etc.
The perfect solution would be: Remove all enemy outlines from the game. Make friendly outlines optional. Make player names a bit bigger and easier to read (and totally unrelated, dear lord put a graphic above their name when they’re talking or make the name change colors or something, it’s impossible to know who’s speaking right now).

In an ocean of bad decisions, this has to be the single, dumbest decision I’ve seen from 343i yet. Like, by FAR. Apart from the stellar gameplay mechanics, this game as a whole really feels like a thousand steps back.

Outlines need to go away and team colours to come back. Been a few times in a shoot out and a blue guy comes running in from the side and I pay no heed to him thinking he is on my team just for him to kill me. When im trading BR shots im not going to notice a little red outline on some other guy. If he was painted red I would have prob gotten the hell out of there and lived.

Disable for team makes more sense
I would REALLY like to have the option to remove the outline around players, that would be awesome !
I am under the idea it would encourage players to buy more armor coatings

YES! Friendly outlines would mean we wouldn’t need red vs blue, 343 could still sell skins, the game would look MUCH better (try it in theater, this game is beautiful), and it would bring back the need to be observant and the reward for being hard to spot. I’m 100% for friendly-only outlines.
I feel it would have been fine if only teammates and squads were outlined, and not enemies. The outlines do tend to give people away, but not always.
If they allowed you to disable them yourself, you’d be at a huge disadvantage though while others keep them on.

No I think the dumbest decision is releasing infinte so early when it’s clearly not even close to finished. That and selling COLOURS

For me, the worst is when someone has blue armour with a red outline, or vice versa.
I took these photos as an example of what this game looks like with outlines on and off. At many distances the thickness of the outline is dwarfed by the actual player color.

I’d really like the following:
- Be able to turn off the outlines for all players.
- Be able to make friendly waypoints more obvious. (larger size, bigger/clearer context symbols, higher contrast)
In theater mode when you turn off outlines they “come back” when a player takes damage. So the shield system is partially dependent on the outline system and outline color. Still, even if that won’t be changed I’d like the option to turn off the outlines.
Yeah my favorite part about Halo CE was being able to customize my spartan’s appearance only to load into a game to find that it didn’t matter at all.

I personally feel outlines give enemies too much advantage preventing you from performing more stealthy tactics.
There have been times I’ve tried to sneak my way to grab the enemy teams flag or hide from 1+ people by hiding in some bushes or a crevice.
I should’ve been not noticed and survive or successfully sneak my way around them but because the outlines smake you stand out like a sore thumb amongst your environment even if you would’ve been properly hidden enough to not be noticed without them you’ll still be spotted even from across the map.
The same goes for players I’ve killed that i never should’ve even noticed. I just happened to look that direction 500 meters away and noticed a bright red outline of someone sneaking away from 5 other players. Without that outline i never would’ve noticed and had no business ever noticing them other than an unfair mechanic giving me a full visual of someone at a range that should make me not a part of the encounter by any respect without a sniper or BR scoped in to see.
Makes trying to avoid being sniped 1000x more difficult too when they can see you clear as day even if you’re not moving and without them even using their scope to get a better visual of that far off location. Movement alone should’ve been the only indicator of possible people in an area and only if you happened to notice.
It just removes a very practical tactic of using stealth much if at all. Now you have to have either a barrier between you and them or pray they dont look in your direction.
If they could make outlines harder to be seen if you’re crouching that would be better. And reduce the range of how far they can see it. If you’re very far away they should be almost impossible to see. But currently they can see them without a scope on the opposite side of the map. Doesn’t feel right and makes survival rate very low.

I like how splitgate does it where you and your allies show your skins, but the enemy team is whatever color you set the enemy team color as.
