I just want the Halo 4 multiplayer to go back to the old ranking system of Halo 3. The credit system is horrible. I like the days where everyone had their specialty. Me and most of my friends were SWAT people… I’m like a 46 in SWAT. I had other friends who were sniper people, others just MLG, etc.
I miss it… it took SKILL to be a high rank… unless you boosted, but even then it was kinda hard to boost.
If 343i aren’t going to bring it back then they are really stupid. It was beneficial for the competitive players and from a business standpoint because of the population it brings in.
> Why not have both? Have a Halo 3-like ranking system and a credit system along side it which is just used to buy stuff, not to rank up.
I agree with this. Otherwise, what would be the point to playing social playlists? Sometimes people just wanna sit back and play some multiplayer w/o having their rank suffer from it b/c they aren’t really trying very hard, but still want to feel like they earned something for their time.
Ranked = Competitive playlists, 1-50, larger credit payout for winners (to attract hardcore gamers).
Social = Casual playlists, only credits, smaller/more balanced credit payout per game (to keep hardcore gamers away).

This is the sort of thing I was thinking. It’d be good if each time you ranked out you’d get more credits overall (like in Reach). All armour should be buyable from the start, so this way players who can’t rank up can still get all the armour, but it’d take them a lot longer than someone who’s ranked up a few times.

What population would that be exactly? Last I checked, Halo 3 is still up and running. If people are so upset with the cR system of Reach, why is there such an enormous population difference between the two games?
The Halo 3 1-50 was too easy to boost in, this account I’m using now has a 50 in Team slayer that was boosted (I have gotten many legitimately before).
Therefore there must be limiting values placed on players minimum and maximum Trueskill. This stop a player levelling up 3 times per win (getting boosted) and someone’s skill becoming level locked (convergence of a Trueskill value and stop the possibility making a booster account). I have stressed this opinion many times, but had little response.
This makes for a more dynamic ranking system in my opinion, and therefore a more dynamic online experience.
With regards to a Rank, keep it separate from the presons Skill, unlike Halo 3 where only if you reach a certain Skill level can you progress to the next rank. Hence it would be good to have a 1-50 skill system and cR rewards rank system. It would also be nice to display a persons Win/Loss ratio on their Service Record.
I think this is a good system. Why I liked it so much you may ask? Well because I got to rank 42 in LW I couldn’t get to 50! That is a good thing. It kept me coming back playing every weekend to try and get to the MAX rank. It was easy to boost I guess so they obviously need to fix a few things but it was the best system ever. cR should be used for cosmetic purposes only. I think this is the system we will get or something totally new! Last I heard 343 dislikes Halo Reaches play sytle! Praise Crom for the victory this day =)
I don’t like the idea of your team having to win a game (I love BTB) to earn XP. I loved Halo 3’s ranking system but most of the time I’m playing the fun playlists like Team slayer, BTB, ect. Now you rank up very slowly in this playlist because for every 2 games, or less, you win you will be put with a bad team and will loose.
I know it’s my problem if I want to play this playlist but I’m just proving a point and I know a lot of people who like only the ‘fun’ playlists.
I hope they can have a system based on a single persons skill and players will not be dependant on their teams. Of course this wouldn’t promote team work but they could also give another XP if you win the game or some system like that.
Not an exact replica of the Halo 3 ranking system.
Yes, basing it on the games you win is bad when it comes to being matched up with bad players… but I view that with a “Deal with it.” point of view. If your team is bad, it forces you to step up and show more skill… this is where the credit system should come into play, it shouldn’t have a factor in your rank, but the armory and whatnot. Got matched up with bad kids. Forced me to go 32 and 11 and lost, still got a bunch of credits.

So you don’t want Dual Wielding, The BR, Better elite Armor customization, Achievement and rank based Armor unlocks (Or Skull/Skill based armor unlocking like Hayabusa or Gamer-score based armor unlocks like Katana), and you don’t want all the missing armor and emblems and colors they removed from the Reach Armory that were in Halo 3?..

Lets be honest, Halo 3 is over 4 years old, just because it has a good ranking system, that doesn’t mean the gameplay is still as exciting to play. I know for some people it still is really fun but 4 years is too much for me to keep playing it along with many other people. Just think, bungee jumping off the same perch will get boring after time, change needs to happen to keep it interesting. The same applies for games. (Except for CoD for some strange reason that I don’t get, I hate it because it’s the same year after year)

Like you said: people boost.
I popped in good 'ol Halo 3 in the Xbawg the other day, tried to play a few matches, and guess who I encountered? Yep. Boosters. De-Rankers. All of those annoying people.
I say: GIVE HALO 4 THE HALO 4 RANKING SYSTEM.
I don’t care if it’s 1-50, or 1-75, or anything. I JUST WANT IT TO BE BETTER IN EVERY SINGLE WAY POSSIBLE. Why settle for “Same as Halo 3”, When you could expand?
I actually miss the Halo 2 system better. You couldn’t boost it the same way(or as easily in H2) And also you could go online and see how close you were to ranking up with a blue progress bar. I loved that system
I wouldn’t mind credits on the side for armor but I just want a 1-50 again. I liked Halo 2 most because it was skill. very few people i ever played with bridged or anything like that. Where as on H3 so many people boosted and even sold their accounts. I vote H2’s ranking system and speaking of Halo 2 how about some clan support for Halo 4!

why not have assigments ala battlefield to get armour
I wouldn’t mind playlist specific “1-50” ranks with a global rank based on a cR-like system. I did enjoy how you had to purchase armor in Reach, and I hope to see something similar return. The cR system never bothered me in Reach, but I can see how it would aggravate certain players.
