The one thing that makes me want to rage quit every day is the melee lunge, autoaim, and magnetism

I really like the core gameplay of Infinite. I play it everyday and just want to get better and better. What pains me is that skill and finesse in close quarters combat (CQC) is pretty much gone. This is because melees trump any other CQC strategy. The combination of a long melee lunge, melee autoaim (how your reticle seems to flick towards the target when you melee), melee magnetism (how the melee registers even if the target is not in your reticle), and the favoring-the-shooter approach to dealing with latency means beat downs trump all other CQC techniques. Crouching, jumping, strafing, sliding, and thrusting to dodge melees and get angles on a close opponent are a deathwish; No matter how you move, a quarter second later you’re dead from a beat down. Close quarters shooting strategies aren’t viable. The only viable strategy is landing a melee yourself. This is so frustrating. There’s a world of strategy, skill, and combat forced out of the game by the melee mechanics. This means Infinite is only shooting, plus nades, at range. Such a missed opportunity for skill expression and interesting, unique gameplay.
I would really love it if melee lunge distance was reduced and/or restricted to when your Spartan has his feet on the ground, and melee autoaim and magnetism were drastically reduced. This game would be so much more enjoyable to me.
