Is another great battle with a Breaking Benjamin instrumental roaring in the background.
Seriously, that was perhaps my favorite fight in the entire game between the music and the sheer greatness of the two Covenant factions going at it head to head with some of their best.
Ah, the old days. Slaying covies with Blow me away in the background. Good times, good times
BB all the way
too bad they are in hiatus
So people complain when they use Dubstep for a trailer, but demand more of their favourate band/genre be put in the actual game?
> So people complain when they use Dubstep for a trailer, but demand more of their favourate band/genre be put in the actual game?
Dubstep in a multiplayer montage? Yah sure… but if it was in campaign I would just take my disk out
Hints of rock and metal have been in Halo since the first game, Karu. It’s been established as having worked pretty well in the soundtrack. Dubstep, however, just doesn’t quite fit Halo as much in many folks /opinions/.
I would be lying if I said I liked the dubstep myself. As someone who really appreciates music and makes a small study of it, I hardly even want to define dubstep as music.
But that’s a debate for an entirely different topic, an entirely different day.

Obviously you didn’t play Halo 2…
…No thanks.
Id rather have something instrumental.

Er… It was instrumental.

Which is your opinion on the genre.
Some people feel the same about the idea of putting in Breaking Benjamin.
Don’t forget, Whatever the song or Genre, there are people that don’t like it and people that do. The hate that the Dubstep fans have gotten over the last few days because of a trailer was a complete disgrace, and I feel that asking for a song that you are personally okay with is just ignorant.
Try to picture it the other way around. They use a song you really like in a trailer and everyone starts hating on everyone else for it, and a few days later you see people asking for some Dubstep they want to be put in the game. (So not even avoidable like the trailer was).
EDIT: And in regard to ‘Rock suits halo more than Dubstep’, I don’t disagree, but the new Halo seems to have a place for a more Techno/futuristic sound. No, I’m not saying Dubstep should be put into the game. Why? Because it would annoy a lot of people. But you can’t expect Dubstep fans to admit that while asking for your genre’s to be put into the game.

I really liked the trailer with music. It felt like a good montage.
The best part about all of the hate it received, however, is that it’s not even dubstep.
Why not halo 4? we have prometheans, Covenant, and the UNSC that could all go at each other with their best.
Spartan IV’s, ODST’s and the Chief.
Spec ops, Generals, hunters and other species with powerful weapons
and all the different variations of the Prometheans
All going at each other, maybe out in an open area, so we can use powerful vehicles, outside a major point in the story.

Like I said (not sure if you caught my response or not), the inclusion of instrumental-based BB was mostly seen as a success in Halo 2. I’ve come across very few players in my experiences who says it didn’t feel like it didn’t belong. As I also said, there have been hints of rock/metal since the first game- it’s just something that’s been melded in as a very nice side-touch to the soundtrack since the beginning, and has thus far worked fairly well.
Dubstep, I agree with Pikachu: Good for competetive videos (I suppose- though again, this is my opinionated side coming out!), but not something to see in a moving campaign-based soundtrack.
There’s a difference between what has been tried and true to the existing soundtrack, and what genres are probably better off not included in the OST, and rather pursued by fans who make their own videos or used in promo videos.

Sorry, should’ve, actually typed what I meant. Instrumental Orchestra…Like “Greatest Journey”

I agree that rock/metal has been in most of the Halo games so far, but I can easily relate this to the conversations about the changes that are already happening.
In the same way people don’t think specializations and perks should be used because it isn’t ‘Halo’. This is a new game that’s giving a lot of change, and if any Halo game had a Dubstep track in the OST, it would be this one.
Again, I’m not saying that Dubstep should be in the OST, I’m just showing a point that if people want particular Genre’s in the game, then it’s going to annoy the people that wanted a different type of genre. So after a few days of hating on one genre and it’s fans, it’s a little annoying when people ask for their favourate genre to be included with the OST.

Except it should be noted I never said rock/metal was my favorite genre. I would almost say epic composition is my favorite, or at least full orchestrated composition. It’s not even a question of genre, so much as it is: Bring back -that- feeling, in -that- moment, in a -new- setting and way.
How many people do you know that say the Blow Me Away instrumental and the part of the game it happened in weren’t very memorable for Halo 2’s campaign? If they brought something similar to that into Halo 5 (I say 5 since it’s likely all but too late for 4), even for only one small instance, it would be a very welcome addition to many fans.
It’s not bringing in a genre, it’s bringing in a small, sectioned off bit that fit VERY well with the game and the particular engagement therein.
Eh, no thanks. I’d really rather not see anymore guest bands making their way into Halo. I wasn’t all that impressed by it in Halo 2. Blow Me Away wasn’t too bad, but at the same time it didn’t create a stand out moment for me, it was just meh. But it was far better than that disaster Incubus besieged upon my ears earlier in the game. That’s why I’m leery of allowing more guest bands to compose for the soundtrack, it can either be just ok or omfg wtf terrible. So I’d rather they keep the orchestrated music instead, at least that’d keep the majority of players happy.
Although if it came down to it and I had to choose between more guest bands or dubstep for Halo 5… I’d have to choose guest bands because at least it’ll be real music.
BB? Maybe.
I was thinking something more along the lines of This.
You know, for when Chief goes All Caps rage and decimates everything with a magnum, knife, and bad intentions.
(yes I know it was already used in Dead Space, doesn’t make it any less awesome.)
Or maybe Thomas Bergerson could make a cameo with one of his trademark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liEnxzM4fvs
That battle is overrated. It’s epic feel comes from a whole bunch of contributing factors. It’s not that big. Wave progression, a great way to ruin any 2 way battle. It’d have been a fine challenge to face 15+ Elites and 4 Hunters. I’d like to have seen the Honor Guard Councilor (Zealot with wrong armor) in action.
But yes, music is a must, as long as it can be turned off in the settings so some of us can appreciate the ambience.
