The old ranking system please.

The players of halo need to be able to work for there ranks again and if you lose because of yourself or team mates you go down a rank. That is one of the things that made halo so awesome. It was competative and trying to get to that level 50 was everything! I liked the challenge of dropping levels if I lost and trying to get back up. It makes the game last! Bring back a fun yet competative halo. I don’t feel like dressing up my spartan barbie again. Thankyou.

Hopefully 343i realises when loads of people make the same thread, stressing the need of the same thing, that generally this is what the community wants.

Why not go back to the old halo 2 ranking system. It was pretty damn good. Sorry you couldn’t get a 50 bud.

I disagree. I think they should create a ranking system that actually takes skill to rank up in. In Halo 3 all you had to do is lone wolves and rank up that way. In reach all you have to do is firefight. Neither takes much skill and you rank up easily. A ranking system that bases you off of k/d and other stats would be a new and great experience.

Halo 3 awaits you broski! Halo 4 will cater to casual and hardcore players, the Halo 2-3 ranking system wasn’t perfect, exactly why it is no longer used. A modified version, with less penalties would be nice I might add. So you have a lonewolves 50…wow… its called getting a 50 in everything was the challenge. Go back to halo 2 rank system and bring social playlists back!

K/D based ranking does not work, before Arena became W/L it was more or less based on K/D and that was a terrible idea.

There is an article somewhere (try Google) in which Microsoft explain why they designed the Trueskill system to be Team based, Individual based Trueskill will not work full stop.

If you played the first few season’s of Arena you really should know how bad an idea this is, why help a team mate and risk my K/D if it causes me to rank down? individual based ranking promote’s camping and no Team work whatsoever.

And 50s aren’t exactly hard to get anyways. I propose a 1-100 system, instead of 1-50.

1-100 would be great! Bring back the old system and you HAVE to lose exp for losing! Now I know this is bad a frustrating. BUT just listen to this. It creates incentive to win so you work as a team and play your best etc. a more Casual system Like Reachs just plain sucks. It rewards camping and no team work espcially in Objective gametypes in Reach NO ONE goes for the Obj they just camp to get kills. In 1-50 this happened once in a blue moon. If they fix deranking/boosting then 1-50, 1-100 would be the perfect system!

I do not want to go back to a system where large portions of the population are effectively locked out from ever reaching the end.

The only fault Reach’s system had was that Arena ranks were basically buried. They should have been given equal prominence with the cR ranks.

It did take skill… everyone wanted to win badly, so there was actually good communication. Halo 2’s system was maybe not as accurate of trueskill, but it was more fun, and you definietly had to be good to get a very high rank (assuming games didn’t have cheaters). and a 50 in Lone Wolves is a 50 in that, most experts know it didn’t mean as much as a 50 in other playlists

A k/d rank system isn’t going to work in many playlists what about vehicle drivers, and support players?, it might have a chance in team death, but even then some people like to be the distraction and die alot, so their team mates can swoop in and own mulitple people, (trading 1 death for 2 kills, etc.)

honestly dont care if its h3 50s or h2 50s. they both were unique. h3 was cool cuz it wasnt too impossible to get 50s in more than one playlist. h2 was cool cuz only the best of the best had 50s. between the two, no preference. maybe a little harder than h3 50s. but bottom line is H4 NEEDS 50s AND SOCIAL AND RANKED MATCHES. thank you for your time :smiley:

I love how the Reach ranking system works. It’s fun, enjoyable to play and welcomes new players to the game.
