I thought the changes made to halo in halo 5 were bad enough with the new movements and stupid stuff to try and change halo into something different… The gameplay is very different from the other halos now it dissapoints me. Its like they punish people who love the real halo games 1-3 and just makes a different halo that will please the cod fanbase.
And now i read that it will have only 2 player splitscreen ? Way to screw up the halo franchise man, have u no respect for what made halo what it is, 343 ?

I do the same, every change I get. I encourage everyone else to do so as well.
Two years ago I wouldn’t have cared it if Halo 5 featured split screen or not. Now my two nephews are quickly becoming the little gamers at the age of 8 and 9 and we play Halo 4 and ODST. So it would be great to be able to play some casual Halo 5 with them without needing 2 more xb1’s and two additional GT’s.

Done. And I second that
To be honest, I didn’t even know that they said it wouldn’t be supported, I just assumed it would be. It’s always been there, and shouldn’t be going anywhere, this issue is -Yoink!- me off more than it should. Are we required to pay for Xbox Live just to have a good time with friends now? The best times I’ve ever had were with my buds who were next to me, as we yelled and laughed and enjoyed the game together.

We wouldn’t have to rely on bandaids like “properly utilized ESRAM”, 50% of one additional core (which is being opened up for devs in Xbox’s new API release), and DirectX 12. We just need stronger -Yoinking!- graphics.

> PS4 and Xbox one have the same APU (cpu + gpu combo) it’s just that the xbox one has more resources dedicated to system functions like multi-tasking.
Ah, I truly wish this were the case. But the PS4’s APU is not the same as the Xbox One’s. Here’s a snippet from a specs article
> In PC terms, the Xbox One has a GPU that’s similar to the (entry-level) Bonaire GPU in the Radeon HD 7790, while the PS4 is outfitted with the (mid-range) Pitcairn that can be found in the HD 7870. In numerical terms, the Xbox One GPU has 12 compute units (768 shader processors), while the PS4 has 18 CUs (1152 shaders). The Xbox One is slightly ahead on GPU clock speed (853MHz vs. 800MHz for the PS4).
Now I know this isn’t an exact representation of the hardware at hand, but the principle is true, as we’ve seen reflected in lower resolution/fps for cross-console games on the Xbox One compared to their PS4 counterparts.

> You just don’t get it do you? The devs can only do as much as the hardware provides. In pc gaming dev’s can implement whatever feature they want and if your pc can’t handle it than f*** you too bad.
> 343 obviously can’t do that since they’re dealing with a console audience.
I do get it. I’m very informed on this topic, and I am a software engineer myself. Yes, devs can only do as much as the hardware provides. That being said, here is the math (albeit overly simplified) that we’re dealing with:
Xbox One hardware > Xbox 360 hardware
The extent to which this is true is a numbers game, but it is indeed true. Therefore, the fact that 343 has not optimized Halo 4’s gameplay for the Xbox One’s superior hardware is simply poor prioritization.
I should not have said “a bunch of incompetent, lazy programmers”, however – it was rude and inaccurate. I was just fuming at the idea of losing this fundamental feature. If a 343 programmer were here, I’d apologize to him/her.
it doesn’t affect me, i wont be using more than 2 player split screen but there are people i know who would be. so in my opinion put 4pss in and let those who use it deal with reduced visual quality (like those people are used to when using it) and the rest of us not care because we wont be using it

I was basically just as surprised and upset when I first learned about this.
I was pissed enough already about Xbox One not supporting LAN and System Link.
If I can at least have fun with 3 other friends beside me, that is enough for me.

LoL u got the point!!!
Honestly, I cant imagine to play Halo without SC. I cant imagine that my friends will come for chat or party to my place and after 12 years of playing all Halos on SC I will tell them “we cant play H5 together”. I will not be able to play it on SC with my wife in nights with our friends online…
I say it since H4 - 343 is killing Halo. Slowly, but they do it.

I just did earlier today. Maybe I should be doing it more often.

Probably not more than once every couple of weeks, and in new and different ways. That way he won’t block you and our feedback can continue to have a voice
At this point, I’d rather have poor performing split screen than no split screen at all.

Yep, It’s all about the experience even if the performance isn’t as great!

I have to disagree with you guys. I want 4pss but they have had 3 years since halo 4 was released to work on this game. They should have had time to do it right. Also halo 4 and MCC both already had crapy split screen support. I don’t want to support a third game with the same poor functionality. This is new more powerful hardware they should have been able to give us the best 4pss support and the best Halo game yet but sadly I am losing confidence in 343.

They need to work there hardest to optimize this game to the standards of 1080p/60fps. This wil give the gain even more hype when marketed with these kinds of specs (assuming they will) All of this will be too much to implement splitscreen on.
Halo night got me into Halo. Heading over to a friends house and play 4-player splitscreen sold me, some of my best memories from playing games overall has been playing halo ce and halo 3 4player splitscreen!

I do think 60fps its a good feature but not worth removing a beloved feature like 4 player split screen.I do think its mainly a hype thing. I don’t think it would be too much though. We are used to compromises when play split screen. They can use smaller textures, less resolution, reduce frame rate, reduce polygons, ect only in split screen and I think it might still be possible to do 4 player spit screen with 60fps. Even if it does not have 60fps in split screen I would be ok with it. 343 just please don’t completely drop the feature and please take a little time to optimize it. I was so hyped for the xbox one and halo 5 now I’m not sure if I will even buy it.

> Halo night got me into Halo. Heading over to a friends house and play 4-player splitscreen sold me, some of my best memories from playing games overall has been playing halo ce and halo 3 4player splitscreen!
I am 28 years old and have been playing halo for as long as I can remember (only regularly since Halo 3). I was introduced to Halo thanks to 4 player split screen. When I was finally able to afford my own system I chose the XBox 360 over the PS3 strictly for being able to play Halo.
Being married and with a career it’s not easy to play as much as I might like. A few years ago when my wife was going to a girls night I started talking with some buddies about doing a guys night. We decided to have a Halo LAN party like back in the High School days.We had so much fun that Guys nights have become much more regular (once a month or so) and we almost never do anything except Halo.
These parties grew until we regularly had 16 guys or close to it even though only 5 or 6 guys actually had a system. As such we always had some people who are on a 4 player split screen. About 9 months ago I moved halfway across the country for a new job. Knowing the joy I had from LAN parties I found a few guys who were interested. We now have monthly Halo parties with 12-16 people at each event. This has been awesome for finding friends for both me and my wife (she doesn’t play Halo, but she is able to connect with other wives who are also not interested in playing).
I can’t tell you the amount of people who are my age who have gotten back into Halo as a result of these events. A number of them have even purchsed 360s themselves. These events would not have been possible without 4 player splitscreen. I know it might seem like a small detail to some (343 included unfortunately), but it’s these types of experiences throughout my life that make me want to play Halo in place of any other game. If this goes away I think it will do a lot of harm to Halo.
I usually don’t dis on 343, but this would be a terrible decision. They claim it is for graphics, but those of us who want 4 player split screen don’t care if graphics is worse with 4 players. The sad reality is that the only real reason for this decision would be to force more people to have their own systems and Xbox live accounts. I just really hope that 343i puts the little bit of extra effort to have 4 player split screen.
Is there a link that confirms Halo 5 doesnt have 4 player split screen. Just curious. I am guessing you all mean 4 player custom game split screen not campaign. Halo never had 4 player campaign on the same console (until live)
PS: It would be a bummer if they didnt include 4 player split screen. Always have halo tournaments with my cousins on special occasions.
