Indeed so.
Future Halo nights depend on it.

I’m not going to not buy Halo just because of no splitscreen. Honestly it’s a stupid reason to not buy a video game. But meh

Maybe you play games for other reasons, but I don’t. There are some of us who just like to chill on a couch with some friends and play local and if the game can’t provide that, then it’s a good reason not to buy it. Not everyone games the way you do, doesn’t make it stupid

Yes.
I’d still get Halo 5 for the campaign. But if it releases without 4 player splitscreen, then Halo multiplayer is essentially dead to me.
I’m among those who only gets fun from multiplayer out of playing with his friends… locally. Xbox Live isn’t fun for someone like me.
Only scrubs can’t solo the campaign, can’t you do online campaign co-op anyway?

This isn’t about the campaign… which I personally think is more enjoyable solo (At least until after my 2nd playthrough on Legendary…)
Campaign has always had 2 player split screen and so will Halo 5, so this is not the problem we’re highlighting.
This is about 4 player split screen multiplayer… which will apparently be limited to just 2 players in Halo 5.
Fear not, I haven’t given up hope. I’ve just been preoccupied at another community and haven’t had a lot of time to post here. Anyway, I’ve heard rumors that Josh Holmes has been posting around, so maybe we can get him to post here.
Josh, if you’re reading this, please take the time to reach put to us and reply. Nothing would make us happier than communication, even if what you’ll say isn’t what we want to hear.

Yes. This^ absolutely.
As much as I support 343 this is one thing I cant support. Split screen has always been great fun and is how got into the game in the first place (playing Halo1 splitscreen round a friends when it first came out). I really hope they keep 2 player co-op split screen at the very least but heres hoping they add back 4 player split screen.
Its been like 5+ years since the last time I did 4 player split screen. Just let it die, and focus on things that matter, like longevity.

4 player split screen contributes to longevity in many ways.

Funny. 4 Player Split Screen is what held the previous Halos to have longevity for me. Still did play Halo 2 with friends as recent as last summer… well, now we have the MCC…
I’m trying to think of another tag line. “Split the Screen” is my first choice.

Same for me, and it’s one of the reasons why I choose Halo over its competitors (other then the fact that Halo is just so much better, of course)
4 player split screen is something that means alot to me. Halo is a game i like to put on when we throw a party at my house. 2v2 on forged maps! Loosing team gives up the sticks and waits. Try it out next time you have a bunch of people over…rocks! Having only 2 split screen would kill this great addition to ANY party.
Xbox one should have been created with specs to handle a Halo game with graphics to blow away the last gen versions and support 4 split screen…that should have been the benchmark. Everything could only go uphill from there.

Believe it or not, the Xbox One does have the necessary specs to handle 4PSS with faster performance then last gen. Of course, it has to be optimized. The remaining question is whether or not 343 is willing to optimize it.
I also wonder whether or not 343 plans to improve the abysmal split screen performance in MCC…
Imagine playing Breakout on 4PSS. -Yoink-…
This is just another reason for me to be pissed about Halo 5. The one redeeming factor about Halo 4 was ripping through the game with my buds in the room. Halo’s Split screen and Co-Op action has always had me pointing at it and saying “see - why is nobody else doing - THIS” Without out it, it will just be another game that no matter how much I enjoy, I never play because I can’t play locally with friends. Destiny, Killzone Shadowfall, and Dragons Age are examples of games that I would probably play constantly if it weren’t for the lack of Split Screen and or Co-Op campaign in general.
This being said I would probably guess it’s because of Halo’s abysmal frame rate as of late. Not to mention how much they disable just to get the split screen frame rate up. I don’t know what’s up with the Halo engine but I wish they would fix the problem rather than disable an important gameplay feature. Games should become more robust with time not whittled down.
Outside of Halo 1 this will probably the first Halo game I don’t pre-order. The sad part is, I went from a time where I had to scrape together cash just to get the game, to where I bought a second Xbox One on a whim, and yet I’m not currently expecting to pre-order the latest game in my favorite series.
Now it might seem a little hard or ridiculous to have four player splitscreen, 343, but you’re going to make a lot of people mad by not having it. My friends and I love bringing three xbox’s over to someone’s house and a party of 16 people will get to play. While Guardians may not seem like it will be very easy to play in 4-player splitscreen, you’re harming more people by not having it in there than you are by including. If people decide it doesn’t work, they won’t use it. Its not like this feature is so extremely hard to put into a game.
