The Official Splitscreen Thread

Going to be extremely dissapointed in 343i if they don’t implement 4-player split screen into Halo 5.
They screwed up Halo 4, and now they’re doing it again.

Well, they’re not necessarily screwing up Halo 5.
But I’ll tell you what they’re definitely doing:

They’re alienating us LAN and Split Screen players from the Halo franchise… Meh.

Welcome to the club.

Should halo 5 have 4 player split screen? Doesn’t make much sense from a developers point of view to sacrifice visual fidelity of a triple A title for a minority… Lets be realistic, there are alot of schmuks out there that think graphics should come before gameplay, so why not make a few insignificant cuts here and there to draw some of those people in whilst not hurting their game too much… This is a perfect example, why not cut a feature that is less used as time progresses so that the game can be a bit more polished around the edges? ESPECIALLY when we are talking a flagship title… Not much of a flagship if its 30fps in an environment that is predominantly 60fps, sorry but you are just gonna have to nerd out with 2 tvs and xbox’s, accept it and move on

Well, I hope that you get you 4 player split screen, but I for one am not going to lose any sleep over it.

If you played the beta, you’ll notice that most of the edges have been sharpened. The game works as intended. With 8+ months before launch, 343 has MORE than enough time to implement 4 player split screen. The visual fidelity of split screen will NOT effect single player graphics whatsoever. You’ll still get your pretty graphics, 60 FPS, 1080p, etc.

Not everyone can buy another TV and Xbox. Even if one has enough money, space, convinence, setup, and usability all need to be considered before a purchase. It’s not conventional to spend hundreds of dollars to substitute a feature that is a standard for the franchise.

But I already explained that in the OP, so if you didn’t read it, you should do so before responding to me.

It’s already running at 60 fps, we’ve seen the beta.

I don’t see how a person who is running the game just as a single player instead of any sort of splitscreen would have their graphics and fps hampered.

Anyone managed to reach out to 343 yet?

No replies to me from 343i as of yet.

Can’t say that I’m surprised.

I agree split screen was a very important part of halo. Its what got me hooked. Halo Parties, lan parties, 4 player FFA with friends and family. Please don’t remove it 343. I don’t care if when doing 4 player split the frame rate and res goes down that’s okay. Make it happen.

Was there any doubt splitscreen wouldn’t appear in guardians? I just hope it works well.

Yep four player split screen or I’ll more than likely skip this one. Best games are still the ones I can take it easy on the couch on a Friday night with the wife and friends. If I wanted to play a AAA shooter all on my own I have a maxed out PC for that (plenty of scifi, FPS, AAA titles out there).

Reason Halo has gotten so big and has had such staying power is the community, the LAN fans, and casual gamers alike.

I have 2 questions, I’d appreciate if someone answers as it would either make or break for me.

1- did 343 mention if the 2p max splitscreen is only for campaign, or does it include custom games?

2- will the game have LAN capability like MCC?

Im really worries cuz me and 7 buddies have been having halo Fridays every week with 2 xbox’s and tvs with 4p per tv. We’re really excited for Halo 5 and I’m afraid we won’t be able to continue our tradition with halo 5.

  2. I’d like to know how the MCC has LAN capability .-.

  1. -Yoink-, there goes our Halo Fridays.

  2. 2 TV’s and 2 xbox’s + one router with 2 cables connecting it to each xbox = LAN goodness!

This is extremely disappointing. 343 proves once again they still cannot due anything right. Halo is literally one of the only games that ever had a successful 4 player sleepover setup whether it be matchmaking, LAN, or customs.

Do not let this thread die!

I’m not someone that frequently tells developers what to do, but this is an exception. No 4 player split screen means Kamikaze no buy game. Halo will be officially dead to me at that point

I meant an actual LAN.
At least one person per Xbox needs a Live Subscription… Still reliant on Xbox Live services… which have been down the two times I’ve tried doing a LAN party.
Meh. Just my luck I guess…

I want split screen :[

I will miss the crap out of that they really should add it in!
