Let me ask this then, why exactly would you request for the graphics of the entire community to be dumbed down, or lowered in order to appease the minority? Do you honestly think that there are more people that would like to play online together on the same xbox, then the people that would rather play a breath taking game that is supposed to be the FLAGSHIP for Halo on the new Xbox one?

They’ve already reacted to it. They’re not going to implement it.

Good to see that you are not following the forum. But there were enough people already saying it and even the guy you are responding to said it.The graphic would only need to be dumped down in splitscreen, not in single-player.so no,the minority wouldn’t affect the majority in a bad way

Obviously you didn’t read what was said when Josh responded to the splitscreen argument.
Something to the effect of “We can’t have split screen because of the way the game runs, to maintain it at 60fps”. It affects the way the engine runs graphically. I think you need to reread the responses outside of this forum by people who haven’t worked on Halo 5, before spouting off about knowing something and claiming things are how YOU think they should be.

Oh, we’ve read it. But that is a poor excuse, even on a technical level. “Oh, it doesn’t work because we built it in a way such that it won’t work.” How is that ok?

That is PERFECTLY okay to everyone that doesn’t care about splitscreen. They wanted to veer away from splitscreen, and I’m still glad they did. All of these freeloaders wanting to play the game without actually paying for it is ridiculous. Spend money and play it the way it’s intended. In glorious and -Yoink!- 60fps son.

I’m going to address you one time Ur…
All this post is truly about is having Halo 5 support split screen. The Idea behind this is that YOU can have your full 1080p 60fps single player experience without any change to the current game, and that WE who would like the split screen experience have a downgraded experience during game play… Makes everybody happy. What some people are failing to explain (even though some have explained it in this post already, correctly BTW) is that this is possible, and has been done in other games. During single player game play you have better graphics and frame rate, where they degrade it during multiplayer… The engine should be scalable to accommodate different demands on the system… NO ONE IS ASKING FOR YOU TO GIVE UP ANYTHING!!! We are just asking 343i to do the job that we pay them to do, and not crap on their customers… That simple BTW I play with my Wife sitting right next to me… I would never want her in another room… So now I am suppose to put 2 65" TV’s next to each other in my family room with 2 XB1’s to play this game, and pay for the game twice… WHAT SENSE DOES THAT MAKE

What I’m trying to say is - cutting split-screen was NOT done solely because of the preservation of FPS. They could have very well have 60FPS for lone player while switching to 30 FPS for co-op play/splitscreen. They did not do so. This is ridiculous, with this new hardware - it seems that some of the features that gamers just took for granted and as of-course-this-will-be-supported are now being dropped.

Games are meant to be social (online or in the same room). 343 should have REALLY good reasons for removing split-screen from Halo.

The worst thing I noticed in any of them was a reduced draw distance in Reach, where you couldn’t see all the way across Hemorrhage. Split screen doesn’t affect the aesthetics in the slightest, or the FPS if they actually put some effort into it, and considering the millions they’re throwing down, it should be kinda trivial honestly.

Then it’s a horrible design because they are going to rely on every system to be the same and for every part in that system to never change… If it can only run on this exact h/w configuration, what happens when one of the components inside goes obsolete and they have to replace it, and the next thing you know, you now have jitter while playing… That’s why GPU are scalable, to accommodate these things, which is why this community, and those who KNOW what they are talking about are calling BS on 343i

I don’t even think Halo wars, or Spartan Assault had anything over 30fps and those things aren’t even using a majority of the resources of the Xbox 360, or Xbox one.

Do you honestly think that there are more people that would like to play online together on the same xbox, then the people that would rather play a breath taking game that is supposed to be the FLAGSHIP for Halo on the new Xbox one?

I think you need to reread the responses outside of this forum by people who haven’t worked on Halo 5, before spouting off about knowing something and claiming things are how YOU think they should be.

All of these freeloaders wanting to play the game without actually paying for it is ridiculous. Spend money and play it the way it’s intended. In glorious and -Yoink!- 60fps son.

You didn’t even address my rebuttal… you just stated what you’ve already stated in a more staunch and intentionally controversial manner. Also, you contradict yourself by insultingly calling people “freeloaders” who want a feature that they’ve always had. Frank O’Connor has specifically stated that it’s not a financial decision, but a technical one (and a poor one, at that.) Calling your Waypoint community members freeloaders is insulting, intentionally flaming, and is irrelevant to the “debate”.

This is my last reply to you, as you clearly are not listening to any of the logical discourse taking place.

I am buying the game, I’d rather have my FPS be 60, then to allow you to play multiplayer and them have to change the way the aesthetics are, because you are too poor to play the game as it was intended. Go mow some lawns or something, make the money and spend it on the game. OR get a job. DO SOMETHING besides complain that you didn’t get what you wanted.

You mean in the MCC? Yep. During Campaign. Solo. That’s not how they made Halo 5, they said it will be 60fps 1080p, at all times. Including in the Multiplayer. Worth. It.

Actually, yeah… you’re right. And that’s with some level of hardware emulation taking place to make it work on a console it wasn’t even designed for, which lowers performance. Another one of this guy’s ideas out the window.

Not the MCC, dude.
The MCC sucks. It completely gutted customization, and has poor multiplayer services. I mean, you can barely choose what you want to play, without a grab bag of two other games you may or may not want to play. Plus it totally left out Reach. (The best, oh yeah.)
But that said, your view is silly, ignorant, and selfish. Now, I can be entirely wrong on Halo 3 having 60 FPS in splitscreen, and the same for Modern Warfare 2, though as I remember, they game ran at the same speed, but whatever.
My splitscreen doesn’t have to be less then 60 FPS, and it won’t effect the entirety of the game being 1080P outside of splitscreen, even if they had to downgrade it. (It being splitscreen graphic fidelity.) In the slightest. If they want to spend millions on millions of dollars on a game, and just not make it up to snuff where it can handle it, then bad on them, and I won’t pay for it. But I have never experienced splitscreen diminishing aspects of Halo, asides draw distance on Reach, in the entirety of the series. And I personally own every Halo game to date, asides the second spartan one, whose name I can’t recall.

Listen ya’ll.
UrJesusDiedLmao has been in this thread since the beginning, intentionally ignores logical replies and insults people then calls them out when it happens to him.
He even said months ago here that he enjoys the fact 343i isn’t doing split screen and him poking us in the way he does.

As the saying goes, “Don’t Feed the Trolls.”
Seriously. I’d hate to see this place get locked cause of people tempted to say heinous things towards UrJesusDiedLmao.

Oh, I know he’s a troll. But at the same time, he does bring up arguments that people unfamiliar with certain aspects of video games or haven’t played older series or never touched splitscreen may bring up. And, well, perhaps one of my arguments that explain why these are certifiably untrue things may inform someone else.

Then again, i’m a romantic optimist.

Agreed let’s move on and just ignore him.

Just to prove your point, my post about GPU’s being scalable he did not respond to, because anyone who knows anything about graphics knows that the hardware has the chance to become over tasked via, downloading, chatting, unknown hardware changes cause you bought your xbox 1 year later than everyone else and they changed some parts in it… and if you want proof of hardware changes that can affect gameplay STAR OCEAN on the highest resolution setting on the original 360 vs. the black ones… the original couldn’t handle it… and they don’t handle kinects very well either… Anyway… totally got off topic, I, nor anyone else should have to purchase multiple copies of the game, multiple consoles, and multiple memberships to play the game with our wife/husband/kid… I have played every Halo with my wife multiple times through, and I would hate for that to end with this installment. It’s not the only game where we can experience this i.e. Army of Two (EA), but it is our favorite.

Any updates from the interwebs? The change.org add halo co-op split-screen petition now has over 200 signatures! (not linking it, just discussing – trying not to get banned, here).

Anybody get some interesting responses from any 343i employees on TeamBeyond, Twitter, NeoGAF, or anywhere else?

Keep the train rolling, people. Just keep the pressure on for a few more days until E3, where we are almost certain to have some answers.
