How in the heck is he bumping the thread when there are already hundreds of other posts very recently… I appreciate the work you do, but don’t get extreme.

While I agree that it hasn’t been the focus, I will also say that it has still been the absolute most fun I have had. Isn’t that what video games are supposed to be about? I understand that it’s not the focus. That seems quite clear based on the fact that they are removing it. We are all just stating that we disagree with this decision because while it may not be important to the developer it is probably the most important feature to us.

Instead, you wish to be able to play together with someone, without actually paying for it. That’s you being cheap. I’m GLAD that it’s gone. I’m soooooo happy, because of threads like this. With how a majority of you claimed you wouldn’t play unless it was there.

I am buying the game, I’d rather have my FPS be 60, then to allow you to play multiplayer and them have to change the way the aesthetics are, because you are too poor to play the game as it was intended. Go mow some lawns or something, make the money and spend it on the game. OR get a job. DO SOMETHING besides complain that you didn’t get what you wanted.

Look, this guys a troll, don’t give into him. Also, it makes us no better if we resort to name calling.
Was really looking forward to buying the xbone with halo 5 to play with my brother and getting back into the halo universe , was really hyped about it with HuntTheTruth. But this is a real stab in the back for me. You can’t expect families to buy like 4 xbox’s to play together. Let’s not start about LAN parties. Honestly, I don’t give a damn if this game runs at 60 or 30 fps or toasters coming out of the walls. A strong advantage of consoles is that you can easily move it and come together with some friends and get right into the action. There are no reasons now to transition from pc gaming back to xbox one. It’s a real bummer.
I really hope you guys think this through and announce split screen at E3 or at the very least a some very goods reasons against it.
This is terrible. My wife and I loved playing together the campaign. And I would love to play these games with my son (recent addition). Now they are taking this away from us. Why? To hit an FPS target? Why can’t single player be locked at 60fps and split be locked at 30fps? Even if it is just 2 player split? And I’m hearing people say "oh this is the normal, split screen is a thing of the past. Oh really? Well perhaps me playing video games is also a thing of the past too? I’m getting sick of 343 blunders. I’m 29yrs old and I love playing games in a social context. This is terribly disappointing and makes me not want to play this game since a big aspect of the fun factor is playing at home with my family. I am losing the love of games that I once had and my lack of enthusiasm will be transferred to my son and his son and so on and so forth. No wonder there is talk that consoles are dying. The industry is ruining it for us. I’m sick of this and I don’t feel like buying this game anymore. Please fix this 343. I’m begging you to not ruin this series for me and my family.

Yes! That would be sweet! The communication is needed even more because of the lack of shields. It would be hugely tactical to see your team on that map at the same time.
Another idea to raise awareness: set your MCC clan tag to #Halo5SplitScreen. That should gather some attention to people that’ll spend time in Match making, and thus are less likely to be aware of the issue because they mainly play online.

I absolutely agree with that removing spilt screen multiplayer is a bad idea. Sofa co-op is the best thing about Halo and its the source of my best memories of playing it. I’ve never been really into online multiplayer and I don’t think I ever will be, but being able to blast through the campaign with a friend beside me is the most fun way to play in my opinion. For me, it will be a lesser Halo experience for losing this.
I’ve been putting off buying an Xbox One until when this game is released. Now I may not bother. We’ll see.

I know exactly where you’re coming from, a lot of my best memories have been at least partially due to splitscreen, the main one being the vidmaster annual challenge on halo 3 which was completed with me and my cousin splitscreening - and we still have an ongoing inside joke that originated during that playthrough! Another standout memory I can’t remember if it was splitscreen but it was with friends in my local area online at the very least - and I’m now the only one locally of my friends who has an xbox one (the rest if they still have consoles are still on 360).
It’s making me think I was a bit too hasty buying an xbox one (I bought it with the titanfall bundle and then only played titanfall 3 times), I played a little bit around MCC launch and kept holding out hope that the numerous issues with that would be fixed - alas that by the time a lot of these things have apparently been fixed I’d already moved back to my other PC games (which I do multiplayer frequently with friends) and a bit of Mass Effect on xbox 360 - even knowing MP on MCC is mostly working now I rarely play as online Halo MP is now all about splitscreen for me (last time I did MP was 3 player splitscreen on MCC), that way I can kick back and not care how badly I play cos I can still have fun doing it.
Yes, I want to experience the Halo 5 story, but unless splitscreen coop is bought in, there is now for me little incentive to buy at launch as I can just wait a bit to buy it when the price drops - especially considering there’s a few other games and/or dlc (in the case of Age of Empires 2 HD on steam) that are coming out all probably around a similar time.
Look, as someone who was monumentally disappointed in the lack of co-op splitscreen–something Josh Holmes assured us 3 separate times would be in back in December–if there is a legitimate technical reason that the game needs to run at 60FPS, then nothing we say will matter for co-op because split screen is terrible for frame rates. Now personally I hope they can fix this, but if they can’t than they just can’t.

> I know that obviously since halo ce, xbox live has come and online gaming is now the norm, but the most fun I’ve ever had in halo was via split screen, whether it was on halo ce (8 player 2 tv lan ctf on blood gulch when I was 14 - AWESOME) or halo 2 or 3.

> I’ll likely still buy halo 5 but it’s disappointing that split screen appears to have been done away with.
My most memorable experiences in Halo were on 4 player split screen. However, I have no desire to re-create that experience. Split screen, in my opinion, is distracting and it cheapens the experience. No matter how big the TV is that I play on I can never see the screen as well as playing on my own screen. We even connected multiple 360’s via LAN to more TV’s so we didn’t have to look at a small box in the corner of the TV. Even in the split screen glory days we wished we had something better. Besides, Xbox live has been making split screen obsolete since it started. I appreciate your enthusiasm but I humbly disagree with the overall opinion of this thread. I think split screen is the least important aspect of Halo to me, but I also hate when original Halo features get phased out.
I think people should remember that first and foremost that splitscreen is optional and will not affect the single-player experience. If you want 60 FPS as the campaign and want to buy multiple Xboxes to experience it co-op, go nuts. As long as it’s optimized correctly, things should work out fine. The reason Halo 4 was so choppy was because it was running on aging hardware, and it’s no secret that it was not the best-optimized game in the world for local split screen. This gen is supposed to be a step up from the last one, and removing one of the most distinguishing features of the Xbox One’s Killer App is not the way to show off the console’s power, in my opinion anyway.
Dude so if I want to play with my little bros, my gf, my parents or my friends …I have to spend 2000$ for console/games/live/tv ? --’
That’s laughable.
