The Official Splitscreen Thread

I understand that we should be vocal about this, but cancelling preorders just seems stupid to me. If you would rather not play Halo 5 at all than just not be able to play splitscreen idk that just doesn’t seem right.

What’s wrong with cancelling pre-orders? If split screen is gonna be a deal breaker for some people, why should they pay for it? That’s what doesn’t make sense.

But why is it a deal breaker? Most people play through the campaign once, and head to MP. Look up anybody’s hours in any Halo game. This trend is very noticeable. So why not buy a game just because a medium feature is excluded from a small segment of the game? And I never said it didn’t make sense. I said it doesn’t seem right, as in although it is justified, it is a little radical.

True, I just do not think the 95% who are not as vocal and prefer to focus on their own life’s already hectic problems are as less passionate as the more outspoken, as you seem to claim. They just have different priorities.

I feel that I need to put forth this distinction because the internet is full of wishful thinking, and I think it is more important for 343 to go with their instinct rather than be swayed by potential noise. Granted, a combined message does require some anwsers though.

The tendency for stereotypes is exactly why I suggest we do not bring up such topics here and stay focused.

Why should people be expected to throw down their money for a game which isn’t out yet?
Unless you’re really after the over-priced collectors editions, there’s literally no good reason to pre-order the standard edition of the game.

It should send a message that gamers aren’t trusting publishers the way the used to. I used to pre-order when I was younger and stupid, but now days I buy a game once it’s out and it’s proven to work.
I made a mistake with MCC buying it on its first day, if I knew the problems, I would have never brought it.

If players are hearing things about Halo 5 which makes them worried about the game, why is it stupid not to give 343i money in advanced for no good reason?

I didn’t say why are people not preordering. I said why are they cancelling preorders. If you’ve already made the decision to buy the game, it is a little radical to go out of your way to cancel a preorder just because splitscreen is not available. It has been only a few days since they said there would be no splitscreen. With any luck we’ll get it back by being vocal. So why go out of your way to cancel? I don’t know I just think it’s strange.

Hey, remember the time the whole gaming industry pretty much collapsed during the 1980s?

I think history is repeating itself.

Even if we do not get split screen for Halo 5, we can at least make sure it’s in Halo 6. So do not give up, no matter what!

Because actions speak louder than words.
If for argument sake there was a dramatic cancellation of pre-orders, that directly effects Microsoft’s/343i’s pocket. So you better believe they’ll take notice.
If it’s just us being vocal on the forums, but we have already shown we’re going to buy the game regardless, they have almost no incentive to care or listen if they already have the money.

It sends a stronger message.

Ok, I guess I agree. I just wish people were not so dramatic with it. I understand splitscreen is an important feature, but just because it was taken out does not mean 343 killed Halo. Anyway thanks for responding without calling me a rude name like everyone else seems to do.

SPILTCREEN NEEDS TO HAPPEN

This is an honest question, dose anybody know if 343 reads the forums or not?

Nope. The best way to contact them would be to Tweet them.

The more they distance themselves from content like campaign, firefight, and spartan ops (if they made it correctly) and limit it to just one person per console, the more I’ll probably end up distancing myself from playing the main Halo games. I never started playing Halo because of competitive multiplayer although it is a very fun thing to play. I continued to buy the games because of the campaign and eventually firefight which I could play with other people on the same console immensely adding to the fun!
I know there are some people this doesn’t affect but this sort of thing is a big deal to a lot of people and for some, the only reason they buy the Halo games!

From what it sounds like, 343 and Microsoft are going to be seeing less sales because they tried maintaining 60fps instead of keeping campaign splitscreen. I’ve even heard people say they’re going to sell their xboxones bacause of this reason!

Split screen made the Halo series even more FANTASTIC.

To most people, if you want splitscreen to return, you need to come up with a legitimate reason why you want it other than “We need it!”. The OP made a great list. I see no reason for it not to return, but I also have no need for splitscreen, so I’m impartial to the whole thing.

So no more local co op? Why from remove this feature when Halo has always been split screen co op. One reason why I buy Halo is for this feature. Make me question Xbox One hardware limitation.

Look, I’m the one who posted about cancelling my pre-order.

I get what you’re saying in your original post, but it’s obvious to me that splitscreen isn’t that important to your gaming habits. I respect that. But it is important to mine. As I said earlier, I’ve played every Halo game in split screen with my best friend beside me. It’s not about “can’t afford his own console” or “too cheap to upgrade to X1”. We enjoy playing games together. We share in the fun, share in the thrills, and laugh together when we screw up. It’s the biggest part of the fun for me. Without Splitscreen in campaign they have removed the feature I use the most.

So no, I’m not going to keep a pre-order for a game I no longer wish to play. You can say I’m behaving dramatically if you like, but complaining on a forum is not going to change anything. Showing the developers that I’m unhappy about their decision enough to actually not play the game, well that probably won’t do anything either if I’m honest, but it beats nothing.

What you call being dramatic, I call being realistic. If Halo wants to keep stripping out it’s core features, which each game under 343 has done, then I don’t want to keep supporting their efforts. I’m sad about it. I love Halo. I even used to draw a Halo fan comic back a few years ago (A.H.C.S. if you care). I’ll miss it. But Halo seems to want to be every other shooter on the market now. And I don’t want every other shooter, I wanted Halo. This new game is sounding more like Call of Duty: Future Warfare than the Halo I’ve loved over the years. So call me a drama queen if you like, but I’m done.

Cheers!

I feel let down by 343 after 10+ years of playing Halo they go and remove this feature.
