> Wow. I remember that. The users spoke up, got rowdy, and they had to change. This is no different. Keep the momentum going, and tweet using #Halo5Splitscreen !

I hope they do change it. A lot of my best Halo memories have come from splitscreen play, indeed me, some of my friends, and one of my cousins, still have a bit of an inside joke running that originated from the vidmaster challenge in halo 3 (when me and my cousin were splitscreening). Then there was also the time on the Ark when we resorted to trying to disable the Scarab using a carbine and other non heavy weapons after all our tanks got blown up…until we eventually found a gauss hog that was perfectly placed to not be hit by the Scarab beam!

If they don’t add it, then I guess it’s RIP new Halo memories, before they even had a chance to begin (especially considering that I don’t actually know anyone else who has upgraded from 360).

Wait. Are they serious? They’re taking away something as massive as splitscreen for something as trivial as framerate? Bring it back down to 30FPS for all I care. I have a job. I play Halo as much as I can in between, but it isn’t nearly enough to start paying for Xbox Live. It’s not worth it. I have Halo for the multiplayer. I think I’ve played split-screen twice in my life (once in Halo 1 and once in Halo 2) and only ever played online a few times as well. What does that leave me with? Nothing? Screw this. This is infuriating.

You may have already seen this, but is was removed. This is the link to a petition that may help get split screen back. As of now, we only need 27 more people to sign it.

Link Removed by Monitor - No petitions allowed.

Splitscreen has to be in Halo 5. Yes it will come at the cost of performance, but it always has and always will. The thing is though that you’re with your buddies having fun, which far outweighs the problems of the low performance. I’ve defended 343 on a lot of stuff, but 4 player split screen is a must, and there is no excuse for not having it.

Splitscreen is NOT necessary contrary to popular belief. The game can run without it. People need to realize that new games adapt new features, keep some of the old ones and get rid of some of the old ones. I know it’s a big shock to everyone that they removed it, but I highly doubt this late in development that they will add it back in if even possible.

Am I the only one who really doesn’t care if there is no split-screen?
The reason why I dont care is because i really havent used spit-screen since the first month of H4’s release on the 360, because all my friends & family who I play Halo with has their own Xbox.

Hate to burst your bubble (same thing happened to me when I found out), but there will be NO real LAN support. You will only be able to have 2 people max splitscreen for multiplayer, and each system will be required to have XBLive even if you are only playing with people locally. I know, it sucks GRRRR

The Feedback Program!! How many are in that! That could help us, maybe. It could be a good idea.

All true. But if you aren’t pleased with what a product is offering, you speak up. First with your voice, then with your dollars if it comes to that. That’s what happening here. Many of us have been playing the games for 14 years and many of us has used this feature often. Possibly exclusively. And we’d like it back.

And if I’m honest, I’m not buying the game without the feature. They have taken away FireFight (which I loved), they gimped the Theater mode (which I loved), made it all but impossible to share your screen shots and clips (which I loved) and I’ve stood by them all the way. This is a step too far for me. Split Screen with my best friend is how I play the game. We like sharing in the victory over the aliens. We like sharing a high five when things go well. And you can’t do that when you’re not in the same room.

It may not be necessary but it is clearly wanted by a great many of the community. So don’t support us if you choose, but each Halo game 343 puts out has taken something away (or botched something horribly). Next time, it might be something you do care about. If that does happen, I hope no one tells you to shut up and deal with it and what you care about isn’t necessary.

The lack of split screen has officially relegated this title to the bargain bin for me. We can’t afford to spend $500 on another Xbox One, $750 on another TV and $60 for the game. The lack of split screen on Titanfall was enough for me to learn that I’m never again buying a multiplayer game that doesn’t at the very least have a two player split screen mode. Personally I don’t think Microsoft or 343 care about those of us who want split screen. They see $$ and that’s enough for them. Sadly too many people will buy the title expecting to be able to play it like EVERY OTHER Halo title in the franchise and will only learn about the middle finger they’ve been given after Microsoft already has their money.

My clan will do our best to make sure as many people as possible know that Microsoft and 343 don’t want to support those of us who want to play together. Our stated goal is at least $60,000 in lost sales. If others join in, maybe we will get the game in the bargain bin sooner rather than later. Everyone is tired of being run over by developers who don’t even care about the people they are making the games for. What a shame.

I’m glad @pinklawyer thinks that everyone should be forced to take turns and not be allowed to play together. Shows how superior he is to those of us who have friends and family members we actually like and who actually like us. Unlike @pinklawyer who always plays in a dark basement, all alone in his superiority…

> God, so many of you are acting like you’re entitled to having split screen, and if you’re spamming peoples’ twitter accounts, you’re really immature. 1080p 60fps is the new standard with big titles like this, and games have been moving further and further away from local multiplayer for a while now. You’re all trying to make it seem like 343 is so terrible because they’re not including split screen, but I’m sure if they could, they would. Being displeased about something is fine, but acting like how some of you are acting is kind of pathetic.

Just because you disagree doesn’t mean you should criticize. Try to understand how important this is to people. How else are they supposed to be heard?

If Microsoft and 343 only see money, then one of the latest tweets on the halo5splitscreen hashtag might have them reconsidering - someone posted a pic of their preorder cancellation receipt! It wouldn’t surprise me if others have already done the same thing.

That was me.
14 year Halo veteran and a former artist of a Halo fan comic.(AHCS, if you care which one I mean)

Split-screen is underused and rubbish anyways, everyone plays online nowadays. I always hated playing with screenwatchers.

Underused? There are people, including myself, who play splitscreen almost exclusively now. Taking away splitscreen is tantamount to taking away half the enjoyment a lot of people get from the games. And judging by the reaction both here and elsewhere, it would seem the majority want splitscreen included.

I guess, maybe.
Part of me feels pessimistic though.

I support everyone’s efforts in bringing back 4 player split screen. Unfortunately, I do not have and will not make a Twitter Account. So I am counting on you guys/gals to take it to them. Pound them into submission, in a respectfully manner. It’s worth it 343, plz make it happen whatever the cost.

I may not use split screen at all, but plenty others do, for good reason. This is Halo, the last thing you want to do is to continue to alienate your fans.

I know I feel the same way, I am even starting to look into buying a refurbished Xbox One…
