I’m not sure where you got that statistic of Halo selling less since 3 but it’s false. Halo 4 mp is Halo. Just because it isn’t what you expected it to be does not make it something else entirely. You may not want to play because they are taking out a feature that only a very small amount of people still use, but that doesn’t make the game any less Halo.

Halo 4 is better selling. How many times do you see people online using splitscreen? I barely see any. None of my friends use it, none of their friends use it. Just stop.

*Says I’m trolling and that I don’t bring up actual points
*Resorts to name calling.
If you’ve seen my other posts you would know I understand why people are upset. I don’t understand why they think it’s gamebreaking. I’m only apathetic towards those that don’t deserve sympathy.

There’s a ton I can do without, which is why I don’t see the splitscreen outrage. Could you please leave an example of how to fix the split screen problem that does not involve paying $400 dollars for another console.

You could do what me and my brother used to do when I only had one controller: Take turns. Play separately.

> Just enjoy the art of the craft they are trying to create. Try to understand where they are coming from and things from their perspective. Try to understand the complexity of what they are trying to accomplish. Try waiting to see more of the game to see what they are talking about. Give things a chance. Try to remind yourself that these people at 343 are gamers too and professionals that know much more than we do about the specifics that go into such decisions.
>
> On face value, would they also like to have local split-screen? YES, they would like to BUT they don’t because they have REASONS… people just think they forgot, got lazy, don’t care, yatta yatta yatta yatta.
>
> Some people here repeatedly chant the we want we want we want ‘FOR THE GAMERS!’ banter. You people are never satisfied and think life is just a simple ‘check yes for local split-screen or check no for local split-screen’. They have reasons. If they could have everything you could ever want in a game, every feature, ever single bell and whistle… they would. Again, they have reasons.
>
> Also, quit making it seem so simple to drop certain frame rates, graphics, or whatever to make split-screen available. Do you actually know what they are trying to achieve or what’s going on in the game? Are you there to actually understand why certain technological decisions are made? You have to take into account the reaction and backlash from consumers that have no idea why everything is always being downgraded (if even possible) when trying to play split-screen. If you know it all then take your time and head right on over to 343 and show them all the magic that you have to offer. I bet they’d be delighted if you had real practical solutions but chances are you’d walk out of there thinking “Oh I understand… that makes sense now.”
>
> So just for once let the game come out and embrace the vision that they have been working on for years now. Be excited to experience the next amazing Halo journey they will offer us. I understand sticking up for being ‘wronged’ or ‘cheated’ but really… are you being personally ruined this much by facts and information you’re not even fully aware of or an experience you have yet to even try?
>

> For now, step out of the knee jerk society we live in and give 343 a chance to present the art they’ve been working so hard to create for us

You have an absolutely valid opinion on this. But…

As a consumer, I can choose where I spend my disposable income. If I feel that a company doesn’t value me, then I can (and do) choose to spend my money elsewhere. That is just as valid opinion as yours.

Halo 5 could be the most technologically advanced and immersive game in FPS history. In my eyes, it will be diminished and my excitement for it has definitely been reduced with the removal of split-screen campaign co-op. That’s my own personal feeling on it and I don’t think it’s any less valid than any other opinion that has been expressed on this thread. Will I buy it? Perhaps, though not at launch. Maybe after a year and I can pick it up used at Gamestop really cheaply…

Or play multiplayer together since its still 2 player split screen multiplayer

But then why is EA supporting split-screen local co-op with Battlefront on both the PS4 and Xbox One? They don’t seem to think playing together in a room is so “last generation”.

So If you’ve made your points already what are you trying to achieve? If you understand the feelings of these people you would know that you aren’t making no good being apathetic to no one, deserved or not. And I’m sorry for that extreme rant and for saying that to you, really, It’s only that I think that we already have too much going on here to also have people making non constructive posts.

I get that, but when you are playing with friends over live, this gets really annoying over time and takes away from the fun.

This has not even been confirmed by recent info, more recent info said split screen isn’t in the game at all.

This isn’t about lazy design, or doing something better…in a world of finite resources, where dedication to one thing requires sacrifice of another, I can live with that sacrifice. Many can as well.

I see your point, however, and have to wonder: would perspective would be different if it were a different feature 343 was dropping from Halo? A feature that you personally use and believe to be a core Halo feature? Certainly the speaking out wouldn’t seem so dumb then.

I really liked Neutral Flag gametypes, and was bummed to see that leave. But there hasn’t been anything removed before that has me up in arms about its exclusion. There’s a ton I can do without, which is why I don’t see the splitscreen outrage. I have friends that relied on splitscreen in the past, and they worked out their situation to accommodate games without splitscreen.

ahhh… Star Wars, always there when I need it…

I think the whole 2 player multiplayer but no campaign co-op is throwing people off. On one hand, having split screen in multiplayer but not for campaign seems like a slap in the face. But then you think about implementation, and how split screen multiplayer is more common among friends than co-op, and you realize that if they could’ve done splitscreen co-op, they would’ve done it. That means there must be some campaign features and experiences that just cannot warrant split screen co-op

They had the quick events in Halo 4, they just went to the perspective of the 1st player.

I’m so glad that my "it’s not going to happen’ stance was correct.
I’m also SOOOOO much happier that it’s going to refuse to cater to you people and ruin the 60fps, just because you want to play with a friend the cheap way.

<3 343.

Myself and my wife have played every halo game splitscreen, we love the series. Splitscreen co-op is where it’s at for us. That’s how we like to play the game.

To quote my wife: “Well, screw those guys then.”

It was a killer feature for us and it’s gone, so we’re out.

Try to understand the complexity of what they are trying to accomplish. Try waiting to see more of the game to see what they are talking about. Give things a chance. Try to remind yourself that these people at 343 are gamers too and professionals that know much more than we do about the specifics that go into such decisions.

> >

I understand sticking up for being ‘wronged’ or ‘cheated’ but really… are you being personally ruined this much by facts and information you’re not even fully aware of or an experience you have yet to even try?

> Halo 5 could be the most technologically advanced and immersive game in FPS history. In my eyes, it will be diminished and my excitement for it has definitely been reduced with the removal of split-screen campaign co-op. That’s my own personal feeling on it and I don’t think it’s any less valid than any other opinion that has been expressed on this thread. Will I buy it? Perhaps, though not at launch. Maybe after a year and I can pick it up used at Gamestop really cheaply…

I agree with what you’re saying even though I never brought up the topic of money. You are free to spend your money anywhere you please and if it’s not on Halo because of lack of local split-screen then no need to complain… that’s a choice you made.

I too value the opportunity to play along side my son, nephew, and friends during the campaign on local split-screen and being able to explain all of the lore behind each part.

BUT… just like how you don’t care as I do…

I do want the best looking, playing, technologically advanced game I can play because I want to experience the most out of Halo and if that means I can’t play ‘local’ split-screen then I’m okay with that because I know I can at least still play co-op. Since playing the campaign with my son and nephew means so much I will still find a way to play with them through another console and we will all get to play the best looking, playing, technologically advanced game together… to me that’s worth the trade where for you it may not be.

You can have ‘local’ co-op but not get the greatest gameplay vision/experience.
OR…
You can have the greatest gameplay vision/experience at the expense or ‘local’ BUT STILL GET co-op.

I’ll take the latter everytime but again you may not. I will say though that you just shouldn’t assume you would always take the former until you’ve played the game because you may have a different understanding of what 343s vision is and change your opinion.

That’s the big kid option. We also have the kindergarten option: sharing, and taking turns.

And here we go with the, “you guys are cheap because you guys won’t drop another $400 for another Xbox and $60 for another game so that you can play with the same person who is in the same room as you”.

Have 343i confirmed they will address this at E3? I haven’t seen anything, I think they will address it purely because it’s inevitable they’re going to get asked about it

That is what split screen is for, sharing the same console. By removing it, it seems that everyone has to have there own console that only they use. I don’t think you would be to happy if you were in the same situation. While you may have good intent, swapping the controller will get old with a lot of people, fast. By doing this they are pointing people, like me, who share a console at a disadvantage, players like you who have it all to yourself could care less on what happens to us.

Hold on a second, it say here that split screen co-op will be online and require Gold yes? Would split screen work if both my brother and I had separate Live accounts on the same console? what about Guests? That’s how my friends play Halo, one is the account, the other is a guest.
