You know having 4PSS is beneficial for 343 as well. Consider this scenario. Some who is undecided about this generation of game consoles goes to a friend’s house. They either watch someone play destiny on their PS4, and think hey that looks pretty cool, or they get to actually play Halo 5 with their friend and maybe a couple other buddies and get to experience the game first hand. Which do you think they would be more likely to purchase? Word of mouth is also a very strong form of marketing.
It would give Halo 5 a significant advantage over other shooters.
Yes. We must be able to have Halo night.

what if 343i removed 4x splitscreen to replace it with somthing better?
my theory:
hey Another Locus can you put my theory in your OP so everyone can see?

I do like your theory, but I feel like smartglass would be the replacement, not multi monitor setup.

it makes perfect sense! microsoft wants to sell smartglass! so they will force everyone to buy smartglass in order to play halo 4x multiplayer. each player would look at their smartglass screen. and the only way to play halo 5 at a friends house is to bring your smart glass! it all makes sense now!
I must say that hearing Halo 5 would only support two player spitscreen is very disappointing. Playing locally together with your friends is what brought me into Halo and the consoles in the first place. Removing the ability for players to get together and enjoy slaughtering each other is what Halo is all about to me. I’d spend my off-time in Forge making maps for my friends and I to play on the weekends.
With the exclusion of 4 player splitscreen, I am no longer able to share the experience. Not to mention it’s highly unlikely for any of my friends to be getting a next-gen console just so that we can continue the ritual. I sincerely hope that the they reconsider and implement 4 player splitscreen even if the graphics have to look like it’s running on a potato.

I’ve got the same dilemma that you do. I’m not going to buy another Xbox because of this: I’ll buy a different game that satisfies my needs. A select few come to mind…

I can sit in my own home, with my big TV, in my boxer shorts and still achieve the exact same end result and a vast majority of people do the same.

It does and can supply both those things. The ‘it was much better back in the day’ argument is the biggest heap of -Yoink- counter argument anyone can pull out. Things change. People change. Habits change. LAN parties only existed because there wasn’t an accessible Internet connection to support doing it between homes. That argument might as well say I prefered living with open air sewers running through the streets because it brought the neighbourhood closer together. -Yoink- the fact that everyone died younger with rotting teeth and cholera firing out their -Yoink!-.
Four player split screen won’t happen. The Xbox one console is weak to handle this, talk about next gen. Geeks at Microsoft surely nailed the specs LOL
I won’t be surprised if this can’t even handle two way split screen. If the 343i completely remove split screen, goodbye to halo and 343i

I understand online play is great. Even when I play 4PSS I still play online. For some its good enough but for some of us, we still use, need, and like the split screen option. If you have a large family, close friends, roommates, children, ect 4PSS is a required feature. One that every previous halo on inferior hardware was able to accommodate. Removing this feature makes the game less flexible and is a step backwards not forward.

Very poor analogy. Don’t just pull garbage out of your -Yoink-, man, it makes your argument look weaker.
Sure I can have a party of people on Xbox Live and chat with them, play games with them…
But its nothing like being with your bros, in the same place. Having drinks, sharing laughs.
And you know… do other things together besides gaming when we’re done.
Much preferable to Xbox Live, where I’m CHARGED money on top of that, just to play with my friends.
And have to be dependant on whether or not Xbox Live is down.
Didn’t have to deal with that -Yoink- with the Xbox 360.
Just my luck that my two past LAN attempts with MCC… Xbox Live has been down, so we couldn’t do it.
At least we had 4 player Split Screen to fall back on. It sucks that might go away too.

With that attitude it won’t happen. Let us not justify 343’s decision by bashing the hardware of the Xbox One. Not that I disagree with you about the inferior hardware, I just want to encourage positivity here. That said, the Xbox One is more than capable of maintaining 30 fps with optimization.
I dont think you are refering to me as well Another Locust but I just want to clarify. When I mentioned inferior hardware in my previous post I was refering to the orginal xbox and 360 now being inferior to the xbox one. The xbox one might not be the performance leader but it is still a quite capable machine especially compared to previous xbox hardware. I don’t see why the xbox one can’t give us the best looking, best performing 4 player split screen Halo yet!
You know what? I bet that the Xbox One could even maintain 60 FPS with proper optimization…
If anyone has some resources about our topic please post a link to them so that I can add them to the OP if appropriate.

Hopefully it won’t if we’re successful.
4 player split-screen also brings the game to a wider audience. impress your friends and they will be more likely to buy.
