My point was, that there is clearly demand for coach gaming. It’s up to developers how they deal with it, but it’s their job to make gamers happy. If that means they have to work harder on graphic engine (so it smoothly renders 2 or 4 scenes instead of one), so be it.
I remember a couple years back, my buds and I were at my friend’s house doing 4 player split screen on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Then we tried to play online and saw that the game only allowed 1 person to play match making.
At that point I said something along the lines of:
“What kind of -Yoink- is this? If we were playing Halo, all four of us would be able to play online…”
What happened?

Sure 343 should take some responsibility for not doing proper QA on the game but for the most part it is not their fault.
Yup. With Halo 5 they have no excuses for their failures. Right now they’re about to make a huuuuuge one.

Graphical advancements on a game that was vastly outmatched by CoD’s graphics in recent years. Combined with the amount of action on screen and the detail going into 5, its not a long stretch

That is the problem though it is not possible to have everything, everyone wants great graphics and a solid frame rate and new exciting experiences and innovation problem is we can’t have it all the problem with having the Halo 5 push for a solid framerate and the best possible graphics for the type of game we all want is we have to lose something in return you can’t have something for nothing it just does not work like that. Like I said previously unfortunately because of the direction for campaign Halo 5 is obviously taking we lose split screen but at the end of the day it is for the better not worse.

Halo 5 on the other hand is built from scratch and designed to push the X1 to its limits, to give us the best possible experience in their minds and vision for the campaign of Halo 5 split screen has been dropped unfortunately but there is nothing we can do about. It will be missed for sure but I don’t want the game compromised in any way and held back just for the small percentage of people who like to play split screen I want the best possible experience for Halo and its campaign and if that means no more co-op split screen so be it.
>
>
> First, you seems to miss the point. It was possible to upgrade Borderland’s split screen for next gen - something 343i failed to do with Halo. Now the same 343i is telling us that it’s impossible to bring split screen to Halo 5, because it would be same mess. They are using their own failure for explanation why they’ve failed again. Instead of working to get better results, they’re making lame excuses.
>
> Second, even if you’ll never see split screen by yourself, you’ll aprieciate amount of optimalisation that split screen requires. We’re not talking about taking out content - we’re talking talking solely about graphic rendering, that will be pushed to the max, so split screen players will get playable experience. I don’t know what’s your knowledge on rendering, but that means you’ll end up with best performance and best details on single screen (while 2 players have half of your details, 4 players have quarter etc.). Reason why some parts of Halo MCC are choking up even on single screen (like some matches on Stone Town…) is that noone cared about optimalisation.
Borderlands is no where near the graphical intensity, and thats because of the focus of their art direction. They rendered the entire world at the same time, not procedurally generated it. Now if a game has 4 different routes to do the same thing, and optimize the game so that all 4 characters go the same way, what happens when 4 human players decide to go different ways? They’ve already said multiple routes through a level. But rather than scrapping the 3 frames that were not going to be in use for the 4 characters in a single route, they now have to dynamically allocate for all 4 routes, as well as having consistent features across all characters in all seperate areas.
So then what, they decide to cut down their campaign and “optimize” it to only one route through co-op? i doubt that. Rather than leave a few features in and hamper the game, let it go. People should be complaining more about this being the first new Halo game not available on the Xbox 360, but instead they are complaining that they want their dynamic and fully tooled campaign to be playable co-op on this new console, while 343 has specifically said they dont have the power for it.

343i happened… the worst thing that happened to Halo since… well ever…
343i didn’t do bad with Halo 4. I really enjoyed it, and I’m not asking for all the stunning in game visuals to be the same in single player, and in couch co op… I just want them to do the right thing here… EVERY HALO GAME HAS BEEN COUCH CO OP, and I don’t think 343i realized how important it is to people, until now… If they know that it isn’t possible with the current hardware, then this means that they have tested it. Go back and lock the frame rate at 30 and test it again, what does it look like… Pull back some of the shading and try again… You know how important this is to people… I haven’t bought an Xbox One because I was waiting to by the HALO 5 Edition (cause you know they’ll do it) and I know there are others out there that are doing the same. If this doesn’t happen, I won’t have a reason to buy it, and neither will they. I am really surprised that they are willing to take this course of action with the XBOX crown jewel… Kinda sad
So, people are basically saying “if 343 is not able to add split screen because of MICROSOFT’S flawed and limited Xbox One system, 343 is bad company”
We need to have Split screen for halo 5! One of the best parts of Halo was being able to play split screen. I have had every halo game since it first came out back in 2001 for the original xbox, And I still have it! Halo is the main reason why I even have an Xbox. Back then split screen was all you had. I can’t tell you how many times my best friend and I played and beat C.E. on split screen. Not everything needs to be online only. Playing split screen with my best friend is how we have beaten all the games on legendary. It is a classic way of playing and should always be available. If there is no split screen coop I would be sadly disappointed in 343.

Hey, folks.
Frank O’Connor has responded to some tweets about #Halo5Splitscreen. Here is the conversation: https://twitter.com/franklez/status/608840793487347712
Though I’m glad he’s not remaining silent, it seems that the excuse given for why they can’t do it is because “the game can’t handle it.” They’re talking about the code as if it fell out of Heaven, and they’ve got to do their best with what they’ve got. But that is a lazy excuse. They designed the game engine to apparently not even be able to function in anything other than 60fps (I’ve never heard of such a thing. Game’s don’t process in 60fps, the display in 60fps).
It seems that Microsoft/343i is unwilling to let Xbox One’s “flagship” game be anything other than 1080p/60fps 100% of the time. This foolish obsession is leading to poor game quality and complete disregard of what the community wants in a Halo game.
They better have some answers at E3.
There are people who care more about 60frames than fun
There are people who don’t find lack of coop and/or 4player SS to be horrible
There are people who think 30fps can’t work for Halo despite it working fine for over ten years.
There are people who think people who want SS/CoopSS are the idiots LOL
There are people now on this forum and in this community who believe gaming is meant to show off some “standards”
How about the FUN standard
How about the HALO standard
How about the doing whats good standard
60fps has ruined halo
>-Yoinked!- up halo2 glitches though they were promised
>ruining split screen
>Spawned a bunch of kids who think halo is about graphics over FUN

Hello, everybody. I understand that many of you are upset about 343 Industries’ decision to not develop split-screen local cooperative play. Mr. O’Connor has sent me to calm everybody down and collect your objections in a reasonable and orderly fashion. Please file formal complaints here: <mark>Link Removed by Monitor</mark>
Thank you for choosing 343 Industries.
when I go to the link I get an Error code 343.

You know what this means?
We’re done -Yoinked!- is what it means.
They’ve designed the -Yoink!- game on 60 FPS.
Which means if its not running at 60FPS, then weird -Yoink- can happen.
the 1080p/60FPS -Yoink!- crowd ruined our Split Screen.
To say that I am upset is an understatement.
sigh

This is what happens when everyone’s main issue with the Xbox One is 1080p/60FPS. Dont just blame the gaming crowd either. On a highlighted feature article on Gamespot today, one of the edtiors “hopes” for E3 was a way to get 1080p 60FPS on Xbox One… Meanwhile the Playstation E3 Video is full of cheers and their favourite games
God, so many of you are acting like you’re entitled to having split screen, and if you’re spamming peoples’ twitter accounts, you’re really immature. 1080p 60fps is the new standard with big titles like this, and games have been moving further and further away from local multiplayer for a while now. You’re all trying to make it seem like 343 is so terrible because they’re not including split screen, but I’m sure if they could, they would. Being displeased about something is fine, but acting like how some of you are acting is kind of pathetic.

Yeah People need to stop focusing on 1080p/60 fps and center on games, this decisions comes with a poor excuse.
