This attitude is very disrespectful, what are we, just extras? We don’t matter? just because we don’t want to drop $400 for another Xbox and game does not mean we are nobodies!!! I happily play online, but How will I play at the same time as my brother when we are in an online custom game? do we have to take turns? let one watch as the other has tons of fun?

So If you don’t care for the people here why are you still here? Good bye? Why don’t you get out and stop bashing and trolling people? There’s nothing worse than individuals like you that can’t feel empathy, If the halo community wouldn’t miss someone It would be you.

To see if we can organize this a little, like this post if you want split screen to be put into the game.

like this post if you want split screen to stay out or don’t care.

(yes, I know this is not the best method, but I cannot think of anything else to do, the only thing comforting me is that we got a good look at the new ODST like helmet.)

Not everything lasts forever. We live in a world where video games are becoming more and more geared towards internet only. First it was system link now its split-screen who knows whats next, so we need to except change or we will be left behind.

remember that adding split-screen will have barely any impact at all on those who just want to play coop online or play alone

But, like most things, not everyone can stay in touch, this is why things start to die out, they become to complicated, to expansive, eventually people just leave, and then it dies.

This issue actually goes beyond a simple feature Halo used to have. (since its beginning I might add) This extends all the way into some of what console gaming is all about over PC gaming. Go ahead and call me flippant all you like but it will never change the fact that consoles are losing more and more of the advantages they had over PC’s. And one of the big ones by far was being able to sit on the couch and plays with your friends right there on one TV, on one system, and one game. As long as you had the controllers.

which is also true but System Link was succesfully removed from gaming due to more and more games not having the feature, & i’ve been seeing more & more multiplayer games without split-screen being released so its beginning to look like its next to go

Been playing halo since halo 3, and this is the one announcement that successfully undid (or even could have undone) all of the hype built up since the beta. I’m sure campaign will still be fun… once through. Playing a campaign once through doesn’t really warrant $60.

E3 better provide a better reason than “but 60 fps”, or I’ll have to wait for a price drop.

No split screen at all?!?! Wow, the only way I play Halo is either system link or split screen. First they did away with system link, and I said “at least we still have split screen”. Now they did away with split screen, so now basically I have nothing. I couldn’t care less about 60fps, and I don’t play online. 60fps is a “would be nice” feature, but split screen is essential. I’ve been holding off buying an XBox One until Halo 5 came out. Halo 5 was the one reason I would buy an XBox One. So now, basically, I have no reason to buy Halo 5, which means I have no reason to buy an XBox One. Well, at least I can still enjoy all the other Halos on my XBox 360’s. I guess those were the best we’ll ever get. I think 343 has basically killed Halo for a lot of people. They’ve somehow lost their direction. Graphics and FPS are not what make a game fun. Gameplay is. They seem to have forgotten that. Sad. So Sad.

Edit: Honestly, I think Halo Reach with it’s great Firefight mode was the best of the Halo’s (and even Halo 3) and we’ve just been losing feature after feature since then, or we have to pay for XBox Gold now for features we used to have for free. It’s just not worth it.

Split screen is one of my favorite features of the Halo games and I am a little sad its gone. That being said Halo 5 still looks like the best Halo game to date, IMO, and I am definitely going to buy it.

If split screen was the sole reason that you were going to buy Halo 5, then I think you are clearly missing the point of all the other great features that make this game worth buying.

Besides there is still MCC for local Co-op or even Halo 4 on Xbox 360 (though I admit that was a little buggy).

I can empathize with people being bummed out about the feature not being included. I cannot empathize with the sense of entitlement this community has or the notion that they would bumrush employees of 343i in person at E3 over this. Not to mention the amount of death threats I’m sure they are getting. Also counter-arguement is not trolling, last time I checked.

How so?

What does this have to do with replayability?

Except the whole game’s mechanics was built around the 60fps & split-screen lowers the fps to about 30 which would mess with the game’s mechanics

It is different, system link was an attachment, we are talking on the scale of having to by another console and game.

I’m guessing 99% of the people on this forum (as we’re on halo waypoint) will buy halo 5.

That being said, people have every right to be upset about features being removed (and arguably a core feature) when the step to a new console is made. Halo 5 is set to lose a lot of its more casual audience to call of duty (if what I heard is correct, they’re adding split screen) simply because they enjoy playing the game with friends. Even over xbox live, its nowhere near the same.

While I am not happy and will agrue againt this chose, Death Threats though are unacceptable.

Halo loosing split screen and CoD adding it will be a huge blow to Halo 5s player base.
