Roughly 40+% of the population playing are students, I’d bet a tone use split-screen for coop and multiplayer (online and off) due to living with up to 12 other people for 3+ years. For a game that makes as much as Halo does that’s a huge audience using that feature quite regularly.

This is me, right here, I am only in my first year of high school and have a twin brother who plays Halo ans shares the Xbox with me, I am not going to go out and by a second one of each, that is just a greedy money grab. I play customs with my friends a lot, and our best frineds are in the same vote, first year, and have a twin brother who plays with them.

I is confuzed.
Josh holmes seems to state there will be 2 player splitscreen for Campaign and MP.

Do we actually know what we will and will not have?
Please 343, some clarification…

And your ignorance goes further. They have to deal with the hardware they are given (X1). The X1 is very low-end compared to a good PC and can only do so much without crashing. We don’t even know what all is in this game yet, but from what’s been said, it’ll have the largest launch offering of any Halo yet.

And fun fact, I’m married, no kids, work full-time, and go to school (nights/online) with next to no help. Its fun assuming stuff about people you don’t know huh? From the way you type though, you sure represent the above description pretty well. “343 Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie” is all I’m hearing from you

I know how it feels. I have to share my Xbox with my twin brother and younger brother and older sister. Without split screen, we’re bound to be alienated. Discarded. It’s pitiful.

The only Splitscreen option where you will actually be able to share a screen with someone (couch Co-op) will be 2 player split screen in online multiplayer only.

Not to be mean, and while he may be saying this in a good way and all, but, at the end of the day, it sounds like, if you don’t buy another $400 console, you are just an extra who does not matter much.

BigSeen00 and xVWx TK, please do us a favor and knock it off. This isn’t the place for arguing about who’s ignorant and who isn’t. Let’s stay focused and not turn this into a flame war, or I’ll have to start using the magic report button.

I was looking forward to Halo 5, I just hope this is cleared up at E3.

“You have to acknowledge the possibility that the pro testers had some influence on these decisions. Halo 5 is going to be extremely competitive and not very casual-friendly. And that’s a shame because I’m a casual gamer who has a K/D of 0.76.”

I’m sorry, my phone doesn’t play nice when I’m trying to edit, especially for quotes.

If what you say is true, though personally I have my doubts, it would be a mistake. A low entry level doesn’t mean there isn’t a high complexity to master a game. Sales wise it would be a mistake not to make a game easy to learn for the wider (read “monies”) audience.

I personally believe in making slower, simpler games that can hook casual players and be enjoyable. As well as have the depth like skill jumps, weapon combos and placement for players looking for that.

Hell it’s worked for Halo up to this point, as well as Fable, and every Nintendo franchise going.

Don’t worry I’m out. Good luck in your efforts

Another locust, you took the words right from my fingertips. I’m a huge halo fanatic, I’ve played all the games, read all the novels (including the forerunner saga), and I’ve read most of the graphic novels. I’ve bought all the video games in the legendary edition and currently have the legendary halo 5 edition preordered and 50% paid off. Yet when I heard the news about 343 industries mutilating halo 5 by removing the split screen function I was furious and had to stop my self from calling game stop and cancelling my preorder. Halo was the game that redefined multilayer in way that was never seen before combat evolved, and when online multilayer came out with halo two it was yet another game changer. Now with most other game developers moving forward on next Gen consoles to create the biggest MMO servers seen on console it’s easy to see why a feature such as split screen might fall through the cracks. However in terms of halo split screen has always been a fundamental part of the alien butt kicking experience. Other games, like call of duty for example, only had certain game modes that were split screen friendly, and they were different for every “COD” game. However every game mode on every halo has always been split screen. Now in order for me play campaign on the new game with my girlfriend I have to buy a second game, and a second xbox one? That’s a waste of my money, and I don’t think I’ll be buying halo 5 if the split screen mode isn’t put back into the game due to this factor.

Guys, keep the Twitter flood going. And remember: use #Halo5SplitScreen to let this spread like a wildfire.

Well I’m guessing right then… You are out of touch with family gaming. You don’t have kids. You lose out on that argument for split screen being obsolete. Your very premise as to why it is not needed is fundamentally flawed

ever since i can remember i have played HALO with my mates and my brothers using splitscreen and for it not to be included in halo 5 Guardians, it feels like an insult to the fans and i for one have been let down by this news. i have finished the MCC 4 times with my brother using splitscreen and halo is a brother thing in my house me and my brothers get halo on day one and absolutely smash the game and the online. i would happily have not as good graphics if it meant i got splitscreen. i think since 343 got their hand on halo it has gone down hill, The halo 4 story didnt feel like halo, i still just fire up the 360 for halo 3, now they have removed splitcreen yet have given the master chief a team.

343 need to sort this out or i know now that they wont be getting my money for the first time ever i wont be playing halo. i hope other fans will do the same, if they want halo to stick to its roots then it needs splitscreen otherwise its just a generic sci fi shooter with what used to be an amazing game.

RIP HALO!!!

Knock. It. Off. Please.

The argument is over. Let’s keep it that way.

I’m more disappointed with the lack of co-op splitscreen than reduced multiplayer, but both bother me.
My oldest son and I had a “coming of age” where we went through all of the Halo campaigns co-op. It’s very sad to think we won’t be able to do this again, or work on campaign achievements together (something we are still doing in Halo MCC).
Occasionally, I and my two oldest boys will play Halo multiplayer. Even more occasionally, my younger boys will get involved (in local custom games, not online).
It’s a bitter disappointment that what has become a family affair will be so limited with the next installment.

> > >
> > > I’m just spit balling here but what if you were to be able to give orders to your AI Spartan companions via voice commands. This would surely use up more CPU power of the box but would be a pretty nice immersive feature.

I always play the first campaign walkthough with my brother in every single Halo. But. I will give that up if 343i has made the Halo 5 campaign longer, more rich in story, and more immersive and smarter AI + more enemies on screen. I will sacrifice that. In this case I am thinking of buying another xbox one.

> time to sound like a mega noob, but the co-op only affects campaign right? If it works for multiplayer, it should work for custom games too, right?

correct, kind of. Local splitscreen for multiplayer is only supposed to be 2 players, and not the usual 4.

exactly my point as to why it must be supported in the game!

Get a load of this: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/clarity-regarding-halo-5-guardians-online-co-op-access

There was a mistake in the GameInformer, but unfortunately, it wasn’t what we were hoping for. It turns out that you will need a Gold account to do online coop. GG.

I don’t care what they do, (As long as there will be Split-screen Multiplayer, Co-op, I don’t mind it being only over Xbox Live, as long as it’s free.

Edit: Just Read the post about gold required for Co-op: SCREW THE GOLD TRIAL! GIVE ME SPLITSCREEN, OR FREE ONLINE CO-OP!!!
