> Yeah, I feel you. I don’t even play multiplayer, games are for having fun with friends over at your house (1v1 isn’t really a game). Don’t get me wrong, multiplayer is still very necessary, but I don’t have a reason to buy the game anymore. At least not for $60
Well, I do play the Halo multiplayer, however, I still want to play at my place with my friends. A relative of mine doesn’t have a Xbox and since the release of H2 he came to my house to play it together. In over ten years that has never changed and now this…
Its pretty obvious why 343i is doing this, and Microsoft in general. More money. Here’s a scene.
You buy an Xbox one, you are excited to play with your friends. Then you realize, “Oh! No split screen coop!” So all your friends buy one console each, and I you have friends or family that want to be in the same room, they buy Windows 10. The trend here, buying! They want our -Yoinking!- money! Its greed -Yoinks!- nickel and dining our sorry consumer -Yoinks!-. But Halo 3 sold over 9.6 MILLION. If they gave us what we want they’d still keep their stupid profits. I was actually excited for Halo 5, then I read those fateful words.
“The only bummer is that split-screen coop is not supported in Halo 5.” WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO MAKE 343 LISTEN! ITS LIKE TALKING TO A -Yoinking!- BRICK WALL!
Every single Halo, ive played through alongside with my sister. After the mistakes of MCC i think 343 should push for split screen, why anger the community anymore. Ever since the e3 2013 H5 trailer i got hyped to play once again splitscreen with my sister. i understand the difficulties of adding split screen in, lag and things of the sort, but please 343 find a way.

we want 4-Player coop via split screen
well i guess there are some technical problems and there might be some laggs if they do it with 4-splitscreen-players but i rather want a lower graphic game with 4 players splitscreen than a high graphic game with only 2
just my opinion

Clearly it is as it seem I’m finally getting what I want and that less split screen.

I don’t do splitscreen myself, but I can see why people are disappointed. Maybe 343i have had their orders to push people into using windows 10 streaming to another device. If people are so passionate about split screen then keep going and see if they break. Good luck.

Yes I understand, That is why I tweeted him again to see if he will confirm for co-op. Hope it was a mistake on Game Informer

I said this in another thread: Anything more than two players for splitscreen co-op is just detrimental due to lack of screenspace to accommodate all the chaos of campaign.

As bleak as it Looks keep up the tweets, the messages, this post. We haven’t had an official word from 343i. even still, they can add it to the game, institute a framerate drop on splitscreen, or even add it in a patch. We still have time people. Keep it up!

According to game informer its single player only local. But I’m only quoting someone else on another thread. Who knows.

Holmes has tweeted that two-player local co-op is still a thing.

Unfortunately that tweet was in DEC of 14. Nothing recent.
To the people that are -yoinking- about “nobody ever plays splitscreen. im glad its gone” why does it effect you? Shouldn’t it be there for the people who want to play with their wife, kids, brothers sisters, friends? and you can just ignore it? it literally has no effect on you. Those of us part of the previous list deserve to play with the ones we love without having to drop another 400 bucks and a new TV. At least 2 player campaign needs to be in the game. AT LEAST. I get that now a days people don’t play TDM or anything like that split screen as much. If there is going to be split screen its usually going to be Co-op. Or guests on XBL.
No campaign split screen doesnt seem so bad. I mean sure its a loss, but it seems like the campaign is going to incorporate a lot of visual and graphical fidelity. The issue is probably that they cannot run 4 players locally without some sort of graphical fallout in the campaign. In a flagship game, running on the One, it should run at 1080p 60FPS.
Here’s the thing… I love split screen as much as the next guy, and I’ve played every Halo so far, co-op with my best friend right beside me on the same TV. But the fact that you do not require a gold subscription, is sort of Microsofts compromise and solution to the problem. You don’t need to pay any additional money to play with friends. As long as everyone has the game, you can still coop even if you don’t pay for gold!
I think this is a great solution, and lets them make sure that the game is at the highest quality, which I’ve heard is very difficult to do nowadays with split screen.
I’m not trying to start stuff… but I like how they came up with a solution to the problem and are hitting this touchy subject head on.
I am a Halo player since Xbox Halo CE. I played a lot of Halo split-screen before owning the console.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 are the games I have the best memories playing with friends, 4 player split screen and lan parties on a 14´´ televisions, it was hard on the eyes but well worth it.
Halo Reach split-screen was terrible in some maps, mostly in forge, didn’t play much of online because of AAs, they ruined the experience.
Halo 4 campaign was great, online was terrible, multiplayer maps sucked. split-screen was unplayable, screen freeze, lag, frame drops. Played close to 0 Halo 4 multiplayer.
Halo 5 is looking amazing, but taking out split-screen is taking out a HUGE part of an Halo game.
Shame on you 343.

You soul have to buy another Xbox or a windows 10 device, so I’m pretty sure you do have to spend more money to play with friends in coop. Unless I misunderstood you, which I might have.
