> Gameinformer article specifically stated that “splitscreen co-op in Halo 5 is NOT supported”. But, you don’t need XBox Live Gold to play on-line. Who cares? If they are removing 2-player split-screen from Halo 5, I will most likely not buy the game. Part of the fun is being able to play with my teen-age son. Not planning on dropping another $400+ just to get back functionality that we’ve had since Halo:CE. I get that 4-player split-screen may be technically unfeasible (due to hardware limitations of the Xbox One), but 2-player? Come on, that’s lame.
Where did it say that? you got a link?
That’s bull. Better be a damn mistake or they just didn’t play a complete version
Mags get stuff wrong. They reported stuff for other halos that weren’t true
Please 343 don’t ruin the fun. 2 player coop please
I dont think the campaign supports two player splitscreen but Im fairly certain that multiplayer will support two play co-op at least splitscreen

Can’t post a link - digital version of the Gameinformer magazine. However, the exact quote on pg. 69 or so is:
"The only bummer is that split-screen co-op is not supported in Halo 5. On the bright side, players won’t need an Xbox Live Gold account for online co-op".
So, there it is. Unless something was completely misinterpreted, I think local split-screen co-op play is out. Too bad. I would have liked to play the game.

Damn that sucks. I really hope they ment 4 player split screen? Id take 2 player co-op. I just want to play halo with my wife. I really hope that’s bad info or misinterpreted info.
What i don’t understand is: Why Josh Holmes said that the campaign of Halo 5 will be split-screen local for 2 players while now saying that there will be no split-screen local ?
The GI article specifically mentions CO-OP splitscreen. Hopefully that means multiplayer will still be split-screen, as it has always been. This campaign seems to be very immersive, and maybe they did this to avoid solo mission being able to play co-op at home. Maybe it didnt adhere to the quality and visuals they wanted to get out of the campaign.
And for all the people saying to lock frame rate at 30 or 40, they had already said it would run 1080p/60FPS for the whole game. With Playstation selling so many copies on power and framerate alone, I think its a bad idea to have a flagship game locked at 30FPS
Are you serious!? It was bad enough that we weren’t going to get 4 player split screen, a standard feature in 2001!! But now we might not even get 2 player coop?! This is turning into boycott material pretty fast, every time I board the hype train, one of the cars is gone and soon the whole locomotive will be taken apart, and all we’ll be left with, is a sad memory of what was, and what could have been.
Just asked Holmes for clarification on if 2PS will be in non-PvE gamemodes. Here’s to hoping he says yes!
God I hope its in. 4 player out sucks but its not a game destroyer
But come on. IDC how low you gotta make the frame rate. I’ll play 25 30 fps rather than no fps
343 don’t you mess up. You just made a awesome sounding coop that’ll be fun and fresh DONT mess that up
The news that split screen wont be supported just made my speeding hype train smash right into the back of the modest paced MCC appreciation train.
This is utterly disappointing - playing split screen is so important to me.

You know, I really want to look forward to Halo 5, but every time I think about it, I’m reminded by this. It’s devastating.

10 bucks says he doesn’t reply
Guys, be on the lookout for hints about splitscreen in the Halo 5 GameInformer.
Hopefully they’ll reconsider but the game is near done so don’t hold your breath.
Now i have no reasons to buy halo 5, i bought the xbox one for halo cause i loved playing the campaigns on the 360 co op with my brother and having 4 player split screen matches with my friends, now i wont be able to do either of those two things so whats the point of buying halo 5? You’ve put so much effort in putting ADS, booster packs, kill cams, weapon skins, different armor types and spartan ops that no one asked for, and removed things that people liked about halo like firefight and now split screen! Good job 343, now i wish Bungie was still making Halo games.
If there is no 2 player multi player splitscreen I am not buying this game. That is unacceptable. I didn’t buy a new console to LOSE features and functionality.
We can’t just idly stand by and watch the death of the splitscreen experience! Playing split-screen Halo has been a bonding experience for me and many of my friends, it’s an enormous part of what I love about Halo. I’ve played through all the (traditional fps) Halo campaigns with my bro.
To quote the tgp: “The Xbox One is being billed as an entertainment device for the living room, but living rooms aren’t built for one person. When viewed as a Trojan horse console, akin to the Wii in that regard, the inability to push for split screen support makes even less sense.”
The face-to-face experience must be conserved!
Halo fans must rise up! Raise a greater protest than that against sprint and ADS! Split-screen is central to Halo. Don’t give in to apathy, rebel!
Oh, so it does have split screen for two people then. I thought it had none at all. Fine with me, because I don’t think I’ve ever done local split screen with more than one person except for one time when I had a Halo 3 LAN party.

Source?
Ive always played atleast 3 player splitscreen multiplayer and have always done 2 player campaign., well up until halo MCC because the framerate is terrible if you try and run splitscreen.
and now they are going to tell me that i have to buy 2 more xbox consoles to play like that again
