The Official Splitscreen Thread

Another Locust: have you heard anything back on Twitter about this? I don’t have a twitter account, so I’m out of the loop. Really hoping for any sort of news that 343 is at least noticing our requests.

I took a look on Twitter but didn’t see anything new about split screen. I’m pretty new to Twitter just signed up to support split screen so I may have missed something but I doubt it.

Lol, it’s been a while since I visited my thead. (Sorry about that everyone.) (I feared that it had died and found myself really, really, really busy with other things and didn’t have any time to check Waypoint in general.)

As of now, I haven’t heard anything from 343 on Twitter, but I haven’t checked in a while either. I’ll get on that pretty soon (like, now basically,)

Anyway, what did I miss?

Also, the OP now has 32 likes! Thanks for your support, everyone!

I really don’t understand why 4-player split-screen is not being implemented. This would be the perfect game to use this because of the introduction of Blue Team (Fred, Kelly and Linda). Maybe this is telling us that we will not be fighting alongside them at any point.

Without split screen I will not be buying this game. I picked up the MCC because it has 4 player split screen. I picked up Borderlands for Xbox one because it has 4 player.

I have three sons and 4 controllers for a reason.

There are luxuries and necesseties in Halo life. Graphics: Luxury
4 Player Split Screen: Necessity, almost like steak.
Massive support from me to the creator, you are one of the reasons why I love Halo, and the Halo community!

Split screen is very important and the community needs be involved in the effort to get it back. We CANNOT let this happen.

P.S. I meant support to the creator of this thread.

I use 3 or 4 player splitscreen all the time. I have family I play with all the time. I have always had more fun playing with friends and family then online. I will usually get a couple family members on my xbox and a few friends online and get custom games running.

Sigh. I really, really hate people necroposting. You ‘bumped’ this thread, even after it was gone for 6 days. Get out of here, they won’t put 4 player split screen. Stop it already.

Love this. People just don’t get it, but you do!

…What? Graphics are what makes Halo on the NEXT GEN console…NEXT GENERATION.
4 player split screen obviously isn’t a necessity, considering they aren’t adding it. Christ. You don’t even KNOW what necessity means.
GREAT Graphics are not a necessity, but graphics themselves, are. They want to produce the best graphics, so THEY are making it a necessity, Your 4 player split screen isn’t. Bye.

Yeah! Bring back 4 player split-screen. It is a vital part of Halo and it could be a selling point for Halo 5. Most shooters (the ones on this generation of console) only support 2 player split screen. It might be a good way to keep halo feeling unique.

Yeah all the people I used to play split screen with now live far away and we all have different schedules. However, when we do get a chance to play together its always over live and it gives us a way to keep in touch. Like some others have said I haven’t used split screen since college. Having said that, split screen was definitely something that got so into halo and other games that had it. Couch co-op was a blast. I just know I would rather have the best optimized game possible for one person on each console vs incorporating split screen. Having said that, it is just my opinion, not sure if I can be that selfish, for those who still have the opportunity for couch co-op.

Yes, bye. Please just leave. You are adding nothing to this discussion.

So your criteria for something being a necessity is if 343 includes it? What, then, were the “necessities” for Halo CE back in 2001? Textbook case of circular logic.

“Great graphics are not a necessity, but graphics themselves are”… what the f**k does this even mean?

And if you think that simply “the best graphics” makes something “next gen”, then please leave every gaming forum and never come to E3, because you’re in for a rude awakening.

This is what defines “necessities” in Halo: what the community wants. End of story.

Believe it or not, posting in a thread that was gone for six days is not considered a necropost. A necropost refers to reviving a thread that was dead for at least four months. You’re quite a bit off there, buddy.

Also, I wouldn’t call my post a bump, but more of a “how’s everything going, what did I miss?” If I had posted something like “Gotta keep this alive” or “bump,” then there’d be an issue.

Anyway, I understand that you find 4PSS an undesireable feature, and I see where you’re coming from. You’d hate it if visual fidelity was sacrificed so that a handful of gamers will be satisfied. Since you’re pretty firm on your opinion, I’m not gonna try to convince you. I hope you enjoy Halo 5, because I might not be able to.

I think 343 has assessed the value of splitscreen improperly.

There were probably some statistics thrown out like this: (completely fabricated values)
-only 50% of gamertags have ever used splitscreen
-only 4% of online users are splitscreen at any given time
-only 10% of splitscreen sessions involve more than 2 players

While the numbers may make it seem like the impact of removing 4 player splitscreen would only change the playing habits of <1% of the online population at any given time, the effects are certainly more complicated than that.

Halo has not been the most popular game within my group of friends since Halo Reach, this is almost certainly because of the sub optimal split screen experience in Halo 4 and MCC. The games we play online when we are at our respective houses are always the same games we play when we hang out.

If we are really into playing MCC online together but simply can’t because of performance issues or non-existence when we are playing locally, we are literally forced into playing other games.

I agree. I hope they are not going by the Halo 4 numbers for their decision. Then you have to consider the people that don’t use Xbox live. I’m sure a higher percentage of them would use the split screen feature since they are not able to play online. I remember when Microsoft tried to make the xbox one online only many people where upset.

Considering though how many players have replied and shown their support in this thread, I’m sure we’re definitely NOT a small portion of the fanbase here. Maybe not a huge chunk but a sizable portion nonetheless.

Keep it going, my brothers and sisters!
