It’s basically THE genre these days, so it’s trendy to dismiss a game simply because it falls under this popular genre.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen people on Youtube or some other forum sites say “Oh, I HATE Halo/Bioshock/Insert Popular Shooter Here!”, only to back it up with “oh, well I just don’t like shooters.”

I used to be one of those people. I hated the shooters because they were shooters. The aspect of it, killing other people for ‘the heck of it’ disgusted me to point where I looked down upon those who found it fun. It didn’t appeal to me at all.
Of course, I grew older, and when most, wait, make that all of your friends are playing these games, I had to experience eventually. It was inevitable.
So, I played a shooter for the first time. It’s name was Halo 3.
And I liked it.
While the aspect of killing people for fun in games still hits me wrong and unnerving, I take solace in the fact that Halo is built around aliens and people completely encased in armor. Then there’s Call of Duty, and maybe it’s the mechanics I don’t like, but one big reason I dislike the franchise is that the people you kill have actual faces.

I usually don’t like humans as enemies either. Mostly because in this day and age, where it’s all about “Modern war”, I find that the humans as enemies do not offer varied gameplay. I mean, in Halo, you’ve got enemies that have different requirements to defeat, but that’s not really the case in say, Call of Duty.

Well yeah, Call of Duty has sucked in this regard, but it’s not impossible for human enemies to have variety.

But, with the war and pointless killing there is today, it seems a tad off to play it in the comfort of our own homes and have fun with it.
Now, I know saying that, and then me being a Halo fan and all is looking hypocritical, but… well… Halo has aliens and futuristic super soldiers (whose faces you can’t see) to kill. CoD and most other shooters have realistic looking humans to kill. It doesn’t fell as appealing to me. :\

With every Grunt you kill in Halo, his wife becomes a widow and their baby Unggoy becomes an orphan 
Think about that the next time you go on an alien killing spree you monster.

The Phalanxes? I treat them like Jackals, shoot them in the arm then go for the head when they flinch?
That being said, their shields can send you flying for miles.

I do Like the Vex, When they are almost dead they come to you so you can easily finish the job

The Vex snipers are annoying yeah. Luckily he Fallen can’t aim if their life depended on it

I’m in love with Halo…I miss Halo, I miss the skill, I miss the story, I miss the feel…
343i, keep doing what your doing PLEASE do not tell us your game is something it is not…I have a lot of faith in you all as you are doing your best and are being open with us.
Keep it up, set an example in the gaming world. Be the shining star that we as gamers look to. I already hold 343i as one of if not the greatest game companies out there, not even for fan-boy reasons.
(The gaming industry is bumming me out)
