> EDIT: To be fair to HaloArchive (I don’t want plain Archive bashing, not really my thing and it doesn’t look at the good things about them), I would recommend it if you’re deeply interested in the lore due to the level of detailed discussion there and the blogs are so detailed it blows my mind.
> Halo Archive was a website set up by a bunch of people who were really invested into Halo Lore-“Waypoint Frustration” where they bash the Waypoint Mods and Waypoint as a whole behind their backs.
Hello and Glad you are aware of us.
The Forum was created in part by lore members and those permanently banned from Waypoint. One of the founding premises of the community was no censorship which is being a hard tenet to keep when people are constantly plagiarizing our information and exaggerating certain faucets of the community.
Yes there is a thread for people to vent about Waypoint bans as many members were originally from here and are upset they cannot return. To be honest, a good majority of the community doesn’t even post in that single thread nor does it even have the Administrations attention. It is literally a single thread for people to discuss a topic in that way it doesn’t clog up other areas when something happens. But hell, seeing as I was about to appeal my ban others may as well and the venting may stop. That would surly make the entire Halo community joyous for some -Yoink- (strange) reason.
To be blunt, I don’t understand why so many people care about that thread. We also have a politic thread, depression thread, and even one about freaking cats; yet I never see people ranting on about how upset that makes them. We are a community that just allows are members to talk about more or less anything, yet that seems to upset forums to no end.
> one of the mods (don’t want to say who, that’s being a little rude as this is behind his back) used the HaloArchive official twitter to ask a mod on Waypoint why someone was banned and Sitri (who’s not a mod) replied a little bluntly (it’s Twitter, you only have 140 characters)
> So then, the mod goes and complains about Sitri behind his back on the HaloArchive forums thinking he’s a mod, but he learns his mistake and Sitri personally comes onto the HaloArchive forums to call him out (props to DecepticonCobra to calling him out on it earlier though)
I don’t understand why you’ll bring up Cobra for “Calling out” Media yet not say his name when we all know who you are talking about. This “incident” is being played out as some big deal across Halo communities when we honestly forget about it until somebody brings it up, on another site.
Media is new to the Admin circle and thought Sitri was a mod because
A. He was the last time Media came to waypoint.
B. He responded to a Tweet that was about the mods.
C. His bio still said he was a mod.
So for all intents and purposes we thought he was a mod and vented accordingly. Seeing as everybody gets “soo upset” that some members are angry they are perma-banned from Waypoint and we allow them to talk about it. No big deal.
> So does the mod apologize at all? Nope, he changes the discussion to being scared of cows and later hides the chat thread to non-members where this was all taking place, thier Off-Topic is was also hidden at the same time which includes the thread “Waypoint Frustration” where they bash the Waypoint Mods and Waypoint as a whole behind their backs.
Nobody apologized because Sitri wasn’t being spoken to in the first place and got in a conversation that wasn’t directed to him, with attitude. Not to mention Media later ended up seeing tweets (which were deleted) about coaxing us out to start drama on the official Archive twitter to look bad, which is probably why people try making this into such a big deal. That been seen, the conversation was changed on my behalf to show how little we care for all that.
I have been on Admin break for a while and will say those areas were only hidden for that time so we could figure out what to do. We really don’t care that other communities are so upset that members are allowed to talk about their Waypoint bans on the forum. -If they are still hidden I’ll undo that because we have nothing to hide and if people want to creep on our site just to find “flaws” to pick at so be it. -That is confined to a single thread, doesn’t represent our capacity whatsoever, and is literally irrelevant to anything we do officially. For whatever reason that seems to be the focus when anybody speaks negatively about us (which is funny despite all the other stuff we allow on the site)
> Thinking of joining the place if I ever decided to get invested into Halo Lore, no way I’m doing that now, much more content here and on the Beyond forums.
Thats cool and you guys continue to do whatever it is your forum is about. We literally aren’t aware of you guys, what you do, or what you are about. Yet, there seems to be growing disdain from the Beyond Entertainment community and Adminship. The latter is referencing Little Moa’s (I think that is the exact name) attempt to throw shade by saying “Protip: Don’t start stuff on your official account, it makes you look nonprofessional” or whatever, on his main account, when he created/runs said community.
So there wouldn’t have been any difference if Beyond Entertainment just said that themselves as far as we are concerned (which we aren’t). It would have been better if that comment wasn’t made directly after that “incident” so nobody would know who was being referenced. And again, nobody at the Archive even remembers this because it isn’t a big deal to or for us.
The Archive literally has no issue with Beyond Entertainment or even knows you guys. We just stay in our lane and work within our little niche. If that is making other communities uncomfortable so be it, but I (we) are not understanding how us not working in a “conventional matter” royally upsets people. That being said, If any of the admins want to contact us to work things out or schedule a playful gameday we are more than happy to receive the invitation. All we want to do is talk about Halo all day, whatever can be wrong with that?
> I see them definitely finding success in the future and wish them the best of luck, 110% going there if the Halo 5 Plot is madly confusing.
We thank you.
May any response be direct to me in a PM or on the Archive board? Really no need to talk about this on Waypoint. Not to mention I feel a rule may be broken somewhere down the line, if not already, and i fully intended to respect the authority here.
