Translation: Doom is about strafing.

Speaking of riddles, there is none riddle that i never got an answer for.

It goes something like this:
100 people end up in Hell. The Devil gives them a test, where he puts all of those people in 1 round line.
Then, he gives 50 blue hats and 50 red hats to random people, so 50% of the people have a blue hat, and 50% have a red one.
But, the hats are in a random order. So, no red-blue-red or even blue-blue-red-red.
The people there don’t know their own hat color, they only the hat color of that who stands in front of them.

The people are not allowed to say the color of the persons hat who is in front of them.

There is a way to save all of the 100 people without telling anyone of them the color of their hat

Besides Revy and I parting ways, I have never felt so hurt twice as much in my life…apparently, i got an email from my boss, to me and to my staff that one person in our building (an this individual has also been a member of our forums), said that he is somewhat “afraid” of us due to the fact we are trained professional Network Administrators. Now he’s the kick, and i mentioned this a few pages back about MLP Forum staff jumping over what my career is. So this guy got jumpy b/c he thought we were somewhat linked to “Internet Police”. Now first of all, yes we may “somewhat” fit their profile, however, we are more precise on watching what goes in and out of a network. So you could say, we do some moderating, however, that doesn’t mean you should be afraid of us. Yet, as he said that, I felt utterly hurt b/c this is perhaps the 5th time i heard this (4 times, i got over it, but now, its really hitting hard). Not to mention, lack of trust, and that is just heartbreaking. Like ask yourself, our job is to “protect” you…not “fight” you. Why is it that people are afraid at certain individuals when it comes to IT security. I even question myself if this was the career for me, b/c A. it puts food on my table, B. I enjoy watching out for others, and C. I’ve been around PC’s since the 90’s so i understand a lot of it.

Anyhow…gotta take a breather, b/c Im literally feeling achy. @Cobra and Andy, yes the Answer is Venus. Here’s another one, for you guys:

“I am one known as the bringer of age, my belt is my shield, my moons are my guards, and if you approach me, and thou shall fall.”

> *snip

I’m very sorry to hear that. It’s pretty ridiculous that they aren’t willing to trust you. We’re all human here, in the same company.

Jupiter.

What a second, you can ask to be a moderator?

What if I want to be a moderator?

@Riot- Sounds like a typical workplace to me.

@Andy- To my knowledge, you can’t ask to become a moderator. You receive an e-mail PM asking if you want to join. They usually introduce new SIs in batches or at least that is what I’ve seen and went through myself.

@Yiazmat & Andy

Yeah. Its truly upsetting to have people not trust others, b/c they are afraid of your career. When i go to work, I get about 10 different reports and out of those 10, 4 of them involve open letters involving security

And also, from what i know, you receive an email if you want to join. I for one, would love it, yet, i’ve got other security to worry about, tbh. I follow in a similar process as the mods, but by watching “who is worthy and active” to be one, if im not mistaken.

Lastly, its not Jupiter…close though. “The Bringer of Age” is the hint,

The Sun?

If the answer is not related to celestial things, im gonna say:

Mother.

Nope…The answer is Saturn. Known as the Bringer of Age, Its “belt” which is its Rings are its shield, b/c if you look at the rings, they are actually moon debris. Its got 67 moons (53 named, 9 provisional as of March 2011) and they represent the planets “guards”, and if you go near the planet, and not only its rings, but the atmosphere is its defense mechanism, b/c of the temperature changes, possible to kill us.

Yea, my knowledge about the solar system isn’t that great.

I don’t even know the order of the planets, but i do know that Earth is the 3rd planet from the Sun.

Right?

I’d like to be a moderator or just someone in general who can help with stuff like that. However my track record on Waypoint isn’t exactly the cleanest, won’t go into that but I’m less of the person I was before. X3

Then again, would you really want that sort of responsibility Andy?

Whoever invented London Broil needs a big handshake. It’s very delicious, especially with potatoes and carrots.

Same here…yet, that was b/c i was to overly judgmental and was like bothered by the slow response to Reports. That was b/c at work, once we get a report, I immediately jump on it, b/c I want to settle the problem there and now. And if i were to tell you how many reports we got, from one individual in our building viewing inappropriate content, it was outrageous. Yet the report was sent 2 mins after the guy posted, so I jumped in and closed it and pin pointed which PC was it. Once we did, we had the cops show and the guy cursed us out. And the sad part was…that was on our forum, so yeah…I have the tendency to get on admins and mods cases, b/c i tend to worry about members safety, lol.

I didn’t say he asked to be a Monitor. I was playing Halo with him and he said he would like to be a Monitor.

A good number of community members probably would like to become Monitors, but not everyone can be moderators. I imagine it’d be a lengthy process for them to find community members who they think are responsible and fit for the role.

I agree. IMO, and from what i can tell you, to be an admin or moderator, you need to be somewhat “on top of your game” and know that being part of staff is rather “challenging”. So people I run into ask me that question as well, yet I tell them, I watch their activity, maturity, their WRITING SKILLS, their DEDICATION and PARTICIPATION on a subject, and have the POTENTIAL to ASSIST a member confused on a subject. That is what “I” look for, and from what i can tell you…I was actually thinking about Cizlin, b4 these guys made the decision, tbh, although I did not expect him to hit Superintendent, but thought Community Leader. I was overly impressed by his motivation as well as providing perfect detail and support to members on several threads. He has my support,

I love when games have references to pop culture. Games like Bioshock and Borderlands have a ton of awesome pop culture references. I couldn’t believe that there was the famous quote “So it goes” from Slaughterhouse Five in Borderlands 2. That was one of my favorite books in High School.

Agreed, moderating seems to take more work than some people think. I don’t have any experience moderating forums but have done some things similar and noticed it takes a lot more work than I expected.

I didn’t think much about Cizlin as a moderator, but I’ve seen him as a “community leader” as you said. He’s a very bright, positive, engaging, helpful, and passionate member, and helps brightens up a Halo party when he’s not betraying you and killing himself in ODST Firefight.

My hat off to Cizlin, I think of him as a community leader.

> Agreed, moderating seems to take more work than some people think. I don’t have any experience moderating forums but have done some things similar and noticed it takes a lot more work than I expected.

It does take time, but we’re all volunteers. We do it when we have time. The hardest part is balancing being a moderator and being a member. Sometimes one trumps the other.

If you want to be a mod, the best advice I can give is just be a a good, helpful member of the community. There really is no mystery there. Be helpful, be welcoming, be respectful, and instill a sense of community in all that you do here. After all, and despite our own individual opinions, we’re all here for the same reason.

So Mike, how do I apply?

Totally kidding.
Don’t ban me

I concur for it does take time, :D. Although im not a mod here, but searching for the right individual takes a while,

Anyhow, gonna step out, and drop by Microcenter to exchange a Hard Drive. See ya later.
