THE OFFICIAL HALO FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi 343i, how you doin? OMG this is soooooooooo freaking Super Amazingly Awesome!!!

Omg, Halo 4 is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Awesooooooome! I mean in a scale of 1 to 10 its probably a 100, thank you 343i for bringing Halo Back, its beyond words!!! The graphic is mind blowing, the lighting is epic, the sound is soooooooo freaking Orgasmic litherally, the physics are incredible, the vehicles are awesome, the weapons are soooo realistic, gratifying and leathal, the campaign is mind blowing in scale, design, spectacularness, epicness, mind blowingness, vehicle friendlyness, environment change and scale again, really Braaaaavo for a Halo of such magnificence. Yeah, and the music is adequate!!!

Now on the not so good parts, I want to see Cortana again, periode, also I wanted to point out that the music is adequate but not mind blowing and Iconic like what Marty O’donnell use to make for Halo, except for a few of the track that Neil Davidge did, like ‘Haven’ which is epic, specially in that high melody notes of the violin in that track which is very memorable, also the ‘belly of the beast’, & legacy are superb track specially ‘Legacy’ with the hungarian chanting which is kind alike what was use in the ODST launch trailer which is very memorable & Halo Iconic, there is also the track ‘117’ which has a very great Halo Feel to it with its High strings melody and drum patterns, also the track ‘to Galaxy’ & ‘Arival’ are also great additions to the Halo theme music for their feel, iconic and relation to the Halo univers because the fit well in the narrative and experience of the game. Specially ‘Revival’ is a great addition because of the Monk chanting style which is a total Halo flavor that we need to use and abuse sometimes!

Also why does the Halo Theme Song was not use & redesign as it always do, its the core of what Halo was, is, and will always be!

Now those soundtrack music that I just mention 2 paragraphs ago are superb addition to the Halo music theme but I find myself half the time in the game playing campaign being unexcited or utterly indifferent or unconcerned about what going on in the situation of the game in the campaign due to a lack of emotion in the music, lack of music littherally in some little key moments or more specially techno style music or addition to the music that aren’t in any way Halo themed and most of this techno music is quite arsh to the ears and can be associated with ‘‘white noise’’ in some way, I would recommend instead using pads, melodic sound envelopes with patches that are using different soft sound waves(u know sound envelope, ‘‘Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release’’), accoustic instruments in all kinds, with an abuse of the ‘‘Chorus’’ effect for these experimental sounds when mixing kind alike in the music of Halo 2 but you should use less of your digitally process techno gizmos Neil Davidge!

Notice: In these little times where the is no music I would recommend using the same music formula as in multiplayer where in the last moments of a game the music seems to spike up & pump everyone into an adrenaline rush to go & kill everyone with ‘a’ feeling of invincibility like superman, use that same style of music to pump everybody with a great emotion at stake in a musical performance that will define that periode of time & push everyone to unite to your cause that your trying to bring out & translate! And make sure that there is no moments in the game where there is a musical silence unless it is a really specific, unique, intended & super intense moment, but in that case bring a special sound FX that will intensify the moment, but in conclusion Neil Davidge, I like your style of music and I would gave you another try for the next Halo encounter but make sure that ALL your music & sound are Halo themed with lots of emotion, high melodic stance, feel & spike that are memorable with lots of rythmic Halo style drums & not a rock style drums kind alike Marty use to do, with lots of strings, violins, trumpets & any of the brass, (because trumpets announce a presence, V.I.P or majesty) and know that each instruments have a feel, a presence and a meaning to them and a section of the same instruments amplifies the same feeling, presence and add a greater meaning to them, and each instrument represent & announce different messages or stories and make sure to use and abuse Monk chanting because its total Halo style, pianos because its a prime instrument in the Halo univers specially in its lower register and also Hungarian chanting because just like in the ODST Launch trailer, it announces a tragedy or a sad moment, something epic, and in all I like your style but make sure that everyone looove it at all time and make it more Halo Awesome, Iconic and Epic Neil Davidge!

PS: Its very important 343i, please do a patch to enable game saving and recent game played available in the theater because I couldn’t save my first game and its super frustrating not to be able so save our game with unlimited saving capabilities, thank you 343i for such an awesome Halo 4!

Make sure to keep adding in a lot of sneaky easter eggs and other ‘cheeky’ sort of stuff, the sort of stuff that added to the previous Halo game’s entertainment factor, whilst not detracting from its serious side. :stuck_out_tongue:

-I feel that when shot you should be taken out of scope

-Remove or extremely raise the xp cap

-Let us drop the god forsaken flag in ctf!

-Take out kill cams in TSP there aren’t any mini maps for a reason why give us a kill cam?

I thinks it is time for halo to have a custom set of controlle, the preset work well but i think put a costom controller seting should be better to enjoy more the gameplay if i take a reference to GRIDE by codemaster they put custom controler layoute and it’s for the best. Or for me i would like to see the fistick controlle set to have te crouche on the right stick clic because on the B buttom it is very usless ( sorry for my bad english !)

ok so ive been playing halo since day 1 on the original xbox, i rarely post on forums but im so disappointed with the changes that have been made to halo, after playing for a couple of days here are the major game breaking issues that come to mind

1.instaspawn - should be timed like all other halos how its always been, you need the penalty for death

2.weapon locations - why? ruins map control and flow, and if we are going to have random weapon spawns whats with tagging where they are

3.loadsouts - why ? another game ruining feature, i dont want to have br/dmr battle every game it gets boring

4.no skill ranking and boring exp ranking (SR) - bring back halo 3 style ranking with skill number for each playlist and exp rank

5.perks

6.poor selection of game types, need classic games/rules

7.no elites

8.no teabagging - ok not a major issue but it was a part of the game that made it halo

9.lack of team play now

10.kill cams

for me the game has been pretty much ruined, even slayer pro without all the added COD style crap isnt fun with the random tagged weapon spawns

can 343 at least give the old school halo players some classic playlists/gametypes with classic rules ? completely cutting out the old fan base isn’t a wise move

Please hear me out on this. And I know it’s a big post but I took my time with it and it so hopefully someone reads it.

Starting with the campaign, I will say I absolutely loved the story telling with it, game of the year material I must say, but the enemies are a tad excessive. With having to use upwards of 2-3 clips of DMR to kill a Knight is obscene, and the AI wasn’t what Frankie said they were going to be.

They were supposed to “learn” our play style and counter us, know when we’re weak and engage us before we could really regain our shields, be coordinated with Crawlers and flush us out and engage, but all the Knights do is look at us, and take pot shots at us while the crawlers get cleaned up and the air support get taken out. So I was rather disappointed with that. They just made them extremely hard to kill and forgone the cunning AI we were promised.

The music was superb I must say! But there were a few instances when the music didn’t seem to fit the situation and that slightly bothered me.

Although I’m willing to bet 343i was pushing the limits of graphics and all the unseen behind the scenes, the campaign was too short for my tastes, we beat the game on legendary in about 5hr:43min. And that’s too short for someone who loves campaign, it’s kind of lacking.

Now for Spartan Ops, I will say it’s much better than Fire Fight, I like the CGI episode, but each of the 5 missions don’t really feel connected and are rather basic, with no real feeling of immersion, I don’t feel like my avatar is my Spartan in matchmaking, and I don’t get any sense of progression of the mission.

It just feels like it plays out as: Go blow that up, go get that, go over there and survive a hoard, time to go now, just gotta blow a few more things up.

I feel it needs more of a story than just what the first episode portrayed.

As for multiplayer…I’m not a fan of instant respawns. I have redbarred, died and gone and cleaned up the kill before their shields even start recharging. I would say it needs a minimum 3 second respawn with our option to take longer to respawn as we go through our loadouts.

The audio sometimes messes up and I don’t hear anything for a while, this is probably a bug that’s being fixed but it’s notable.

Armour abilites seem slightly too useful sometimes and not effective enough. Thruster pack is not really as good as I think it should be, the other abilities are pretty much far more effective. And I don’t really like camo on loadout, it used to be a powerup for a reason. And Hardlight shield seems to take more punishment than it should. Most of a clip of SAW and it didn’t even get effected.

The weapons are not really balanced that well. With everyone having atleast 2 powerups/weapons a game in addition to weapon drops, it can be rather hectic. The SAW literally rips people and vehicles apart, the scattershot is relatively useless, needing more than half the time 2 shots to kill, the UNSC sniper has too much bloom IMO and the difference between DMR and BR is annoying.

The DRM beats the BR in every instance, if two equal skilled players met with one DMR and one BR, DMR wins at all ranges. There needs to be some tweaking for that I believe.

And the kill times just don’t feel right, I can round a corner and get DMR’d to death in what feels like less than 1.5 seconds, it just doesn’t feel right to me. I am an average good player, my K/D has pretty much stayed the same from H3 and Reach sitting at around 1.30, and I’ve never used a weapon that I could easily and consistently kill people with the final shot being the head. The DMR is a 5 shot kill with a headshot and it’s very easy to achieve that for me.

Oh, and another thing that bugs me is the possibility of not being able to play Spartan Ops again in the future. With each mission being streamed, if they ever pull the plug, we don’t get to play it again.

With all that said, Halo 4 is a great game, I just feel it could do with SOME tweaks.

That was from a thread of mine on Halo 4 section but honestly, it’s so over-run over there it should be avoided at all costs.

One last thing I would add is the ordinance drops needs to be seriously tweaked or removed from BTB. The amounts of BS sniping going on is obscene, after 4 games of hell we quit, one of us just left so we played dominion, then CTF.

Some of your new stuff is seriously starting to repulse us from parts of the game.

Ok, I can instantly correct the highlighted issue, Tea-baggin is still there, And faster than ever! lol

I really enjoy Spartan Ops, don’t get me wrong. But judging from Reach’s map packs and your map design I just wish that Firefight was still an option. My friend came over this past weekend and asked if this was still a feature. I told him no and everyone involved in our weekend fiend session got quite sad. That being said, if you claim that this is the next step in the “Halo Sandbox,” why is there no firefight? I would absolutely LOVE to fight against waves of Promethean knights and tweak the wave settings to make it incredibly hard. I just think it takes a lot more from the game than you might have previously thought. Again this is my opinion.

Secondly, I think a more robust set of playlists is in order for MP to be less, stale. It’s great but the same modes are getting repetitive, esp. from the given set of 10 starter maps. I’m really looking forward to having a community playlist that you guys’ think are the best community made maps. We’ll see!

Third and last, I love the game. Campaign was action packed and I really wanted to see Chief through to the end, MP is awesome with great map design, and Spartan Ops is a nice break or two from MP. Just keep coming out with content and we’ll all be happy little Halo fans. Thanks!

Let me start by saying that I absolutely LOVE Halo 4. I think it is a wonderful game, and 343 has a lot to be proud of.

I have my minor criticisms, just like anybody else. But there is one area in particular that I feel deserves extra attention and discussion: Storytelling.

I think 343 has done a great job with their handling of the Halo fiction over the past couple years. I enjoy the weaving of many narrative threads back in to the main plot. However, I feel Halo 4’s narrative fell victim to becoming overly reliant on the extended fiction.

In other words: If someone hasn’t read the novels, watched Halo legends and Forward Unto Dawn, and studied all the terminals, then Halo 4’s plot makes absolutely no sense.

For example:

Halo 4 introduces us to Master Chief’s first true nemesis. This is a truly pivotal moment in the series. But when that moment comes, it is too bewildering to have any dramatic impact. When the Didact appears on screen, everybody (including Cortana and the Chief) seems to know who he is, except for the player. I’ve read the novels, so I am fully aware of who this character is. Yet I was surprised at the complete lack of a proper introduction. Cortana goes as far as mentioning him by name despite the fact that his name had not been said by anyone else up to that point. The game gives no insight or explanation as to who this character is or why he is important until much later on. Only at the very end of the game is the Didact given a proper introduction.

There are many other examples of this trend. Why is the Chief fighting the Covenant again? Cortana says “a lot can happen in a few years”, but that’s the extent of the explanation given to the player. Why are there no Brutes? Lasky mentions the fact that he and Chief have met before, but gives no clue as to where or when.

These details are all great connections to the extended universe, but the Halo games still need to stand on their own as a complete and fulfilling narrative. To have so many crucial details left completely ambiguous will not draw newcomers into the story; it will alienate them.

Some will argue that all the relevant detail is there in the game, hidden away in Terminals and other easter eggs. I would argue that hidden videos are not the place to communicate key segments of the narrative. Use them to give background detail, or to tell a side story (a la Sadie’s Story in ODST), but not for information critical to the plot.

Of all the lessons 343 will undoubtedly learn from Halo 4, my greatest hope is that Halo 5 will tell a more clear and contained story. Connections to the extended fiction are great, but the games themselves cannot be completely dependent on knowledge of that greater fiction. The games need to stand on their own as the pillars that support the entire universe.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for making such a fantastic game!

You NEED to add a search preference, i am not a big fan playing on a american host i have 2-3 second grenade lag this is making me not want to play the game AT ALL!! other than that i think it;s quite good also please bring double team and snipers to the playlist!!! other than those this game rocks!!

Best Game EVER! 343i ignore the haters and halo3 babies. Just keep on doing you’re doing, which is making a halo better than bungie ever did.

I’d like to have Elites be playable in Multiplayer for the next title.

There are many connection issues, the AI aren’t as Smart or Ferocious as they were in previous titles, lack of Campaign and Spartan Ops theater, and the demonizing of Elites.

Servers down for over 6 hours today
can not join party to play Co-Op or MP with friends

I’ve posted details here at Xbox360A

details of errors I see

Bring on Grifball!!!

Also, theater mode is eerie when the video is paused and no ambient sound happens like in previous Halo games. Could we bring that back? It would give me something to listen to while I’m in that mode for hours.

Like what most people have said here, you have made a wonderful game here, it cannot be stressed enough, the campaign is hand crafted greatness even though it’s lacking in some spots.

Such as the explosions, it might have been too much to render big epic explosions of the particle cannons from the Mammoths MAC or the ship we board and blow up, but it was all really lacking for me.

The final mission was kind of lacking for me too… It just felt like a complete copy of the trench run in Star Wars and a mashup copy of Star Fox and flying into the death star to take out the reactor. I will say it was fun, but I also didn’t like dying from random things, I’d constantly die going through passage ways for absolutely no reason.

Now for the multiplayer aspect. I have played roughly 160 games and I’m less than 7 wins away from the monthly challenge winning 117 games. So I would like to think I’m fairly knowledgeable on how the game flows and minor issues.

And firstly I’m going to mention the loadout issue. Plasma pistol shouldn’t be on loadouts for BTB. It makes using vehicles impossible. The hog is underpowered as it is, but when you throw ordinance into the mix you don’t go anywhere with it.

On top of the plasma pistol issue there is the plasma grenade. It should be considered a power weapon in the grenade department, it’s deadly to all vehicles and perfect for suicide sticks, and I feel it should be limited to 1 sticky per loadout.

Ordinance itself is a wonderful addition to Halo, I just find it can imbalance the game a tad too much in some instances and just needs a bit of tweaking.

And one of my biggest grievances is the Ghost. I like to think of myself as a decent expert at splattering, I was featured in Anoj top 10 splatters and was runner up to first place.

And my two issues with the Ghost is that it’s hitbox area is extremely small, I can’t splatter anyone most of the time, it’s utterly easy to avoid being splattered it’s just sad really. And my second issue is with everyone having a plasma pistol and the ease of jumping over the Ghost means after you miss your target, you will probably be EMP’d and killed.

In addition to the frustrating difficulty to splattering of the Ghost, the damage done to the enemy seems off, I’ve ran into people at about 50-70% boost speed and just push them and the same has happened to me. But along with that, the Ghost seems to like to flip the moment you hit a wall or small rock.

Oddball is another issue with me. Apart from some broken maps that allow people to cheat, the ability to throw the ball has lead to teams throwing the ball off the map more often than seen in previous Halos. From the games I’ve played, a team will either hunker down or move around depending on the map, for like Solace, a team will hunker down, if you manage to take out most of the team, the ball carrier will throw it off them map by the time you’re shooting them, at which time his team is in the middle of the map ready to pick the new one up, making it frustrating.

A simple fix would be a severe penalty upwards of -30 points or more when intentionally thrown or taken off the map, since the game monitors who throws what and you can get interceptions, this should be possible to do.

I would lastly say the Warthog turret needs a power boost slightly, it is dangerous but it’s not anywhere near what the other games have been and it’s just a bullet magnet that will blow up shortly after. It’s so easy to be sniped out as well.

And lastly, the lack of variety in BTB making it boring after a while. I play with friends and they often bring in their friends/family, and atleast for half of every Halo night we play BTB which can be like an hour and a half of play time. 80% of the maps we play on is Ragnarok, and it’s always slayer, BTB always had objectives and that variety made it more fun.

The Sangheili community would like our elites back in multiplayer.
And, if its not too much to ask, we’d (Not just the elite community) like a halo 3 ODSTish game or DLC that takes place as a Zealot squad.

I love everything,

Except:
Lag in splitscreen
Lost dynamic lighting
Lost slow down trigger in left stick in forge
Lack of my zoomy stick in forge

That is all
But i am very happy keep up the good work.
Love the campaign
The ending… So so sad. ( in a good way)

I have only one suggestion.

I love the attention you’re giving to my country (Brazil) by translating the whole game to Brazilian Portuguese in the last Halo titles. That’s nice, since the game market is growing everyday over here.

But I’d really like an audio language switch option. Not despising my fellow brazilian voice actors work, but lots of people here prefer the original audio + pt-br subtitles.

And that’s it. Thanks for making these great games.

Nobody said it was easseyy

i just love how much i kick everyone’s -Yoink- with my BR and btw 343 is doing a wonderfull job with halo and that’s all i have to say and intresting spartan ops missions
