I’m extremely anticipated for Halo 4, however, there are a few improvements and suggestions that could truly make it a perfect experience. This is all just my opinion and imagination speaking here, don’t take it too seriously.

HALO REACH ASPECTS

  1. About Bloom: I really have no issue with it, honestly. Many say it allows others to turn the tables in fights unfairly, and make victories near luck-based. For me, shooting at a nice, regular pace is not. That. Difficult. With just a few weeks of practice, bloom can easily be mastered.

I was under the impression that Bungie was trying to implement a higher learning curve for Reach by adding bloom, but as far as I’m concerned, it hasn’t done much for the community.

CONCLUSION: Removing it or not, I am fine either way.

2) Loadouts and Armor Abilities

The crux of the issue with Halo players. IMO, most of said abilities are perfectly balanced in regular games: Sprint is fine, Evade brings a faster-paced and more interesting touch to one-on-one battles (never mind it allows players to actually stand a chance against vehicles), and it’s not especially hard to discern one’s location while they’re using Active Camo. Rather, it’s much more intense.

Armor Lock, I feel, is being tweaked just the right way. The most noticeable problem I had with the technique is the length that you could sustain it - made much more annoying with the invincibility factor. Now, with grenades and accumulative damage being inflicted to reduce it, it will no longer be regarded as ‘unbalanced’. As for its effect on vehicules - if they were just sent careening as opposed to being EMP’ed when coming in contact with Armor Lock, I’d feel satisfied. With said EMP effect, hijacking won’t be nearly as appreciated.

Jet Pack is rather ridiculous. Often have I encountered someone on higher ground who proceeded to use the ability, just to rain down grenades. It doesn’t require much skill at all to use effectively, especially when it returns to full flying capacity within a span of just a few seconds. It also renders map control rather meaningless, as players can effortlessly enter enemy ground without interference. A good solution would be to either reduce its height ceiling, or lengthen the refill time.

CONCLUSION: Sprint, Evade, and Active Camo are reasonable. Armor Lock is being sufficiently nerfed, though Jet Pack needs to go. At best, 343 could place these abilities as equipment-pickups (with a limited usage, of course, i.e., two in a 4v4, four in a 8v8).

That’s all I have for now, concerning improvements Halo 4 could make from Reach.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I’m am excited for Halo: Anniversary, and I want 343 to make a Halo 2 Anniversary! Considering Halo 2 hasn’t been adapted to 360 graphics either, it’d be really cool, since Halo 2 had one of my favorite Campaigns. Also I’m assuming it would come out with a Map Pack for which Halo game is current at that time.

Hello 343i. I made a thread dedicated to discussing ranking, and after editing the OP extensively, after feedback and suggestions, and this is what we came up with. These are all ideas/suggestions. I hope you consider these ideas, and that they help you make Halo 4 the best one yet!

Ranking: This part of the game is just as important as the gameplay. This is one of the things that contribute to the addictiveness and the way the game is played. I think Rank should be broken into two things: Base Rank, and tier.

Base Rank would be similar to Reach’s ranking system. You would get credits, and rank up. You could use credits to buy stuff from the armory etc. This would indicate a player’s amount of time spent playing the game. However, you would earn credits faster if you played in a ranked playlist with a high tier. (See below)

Tier: This would only apply to ranked playlists. In every ranked playlist, a player would go through the ranks of Bronze-Onyx depending on their true skill. The tier is positively impacted by wins, and negatively by losses. (Basically 1-50 running in the background) To prevent boosting, there would be stage after you go up in tier where you have to secure your title. You would have to play at least 3 games a week for a month, while performing at the level of your new tier. Only after you secured your tier would you have the benefits of the new tier.

Display of Rank: These are the things that would motivate a player to play more and improve at the game. Unlike Reach’s Armory, you will not unlock more armor as you level up in base rank.For most armor pieces, you just would need to just need to make a Cr payment. However, some armor pieces could have specific, hard to boost requirements. Example: The Mark V Helmet requirement is securing Gold in the 3 playlists. The Recon Helmet unlock requirement is to secure Onyx in 3 playlists. This would mean a player’s armor would symbolize in game achievements, and would give other players an idea of what they are up against in the pre-game lobby. The helmets you unlock with hard Ranked requirements should be the ones that would other wise be overused. This would make it so the helmets symbolize something, and don’t get trash talked for being overused.

Also, there could be an Armor Effect for every tier above bronze. For example, while you have Onyx in at least one playlist; you would be able to use the “Nocturnal Armor Effect.” However, when you lose your Onyx, you also lose the armor effect. In general, Armor effects could be cheap/free, but have harder requirements. However, these requirements need to be hard to boost.

Pregame lobby profile: Players should also have the option to show their top tier, the playlists they have their top tier in, base rank, a screenshot, or even a short text blurb about themselves. This would give players a cool way to represent themselves, and add to the pride of having a high rank/tier. This would also be nice cause players who had unimpressive stats would have the option to hide them. Also there is an option to rate their behavior next to names in the pregame and post game lobby (In game, not using the XBL thing). Depending on their behavior, you can give them a negative rating from -5 through -5 in the postgame lobby (have their gamer tag up even after they leave).

This rating is hid from everyone but the player. If their rating is below -30 a warning shows up that they will be given much less Cr per match if there rating hits -50. This will encourage them to stop betraying, being a jerk, or quit playing Halo 4. This would also force a Nameplate that says Jerk. Also, If a players rating is above 50, give them a credit boost for every game they complete. They would be given the option of using an All Star nameplate. This would reward the nice, and punish the annoying.
To keep people from abusing ratings, have a warning that says if your behavior ratings are consistently vastly different from others, than you will automatically get a rating of -80. This can easily be set up using Z scores, and checking the standard deviation of their ratings.

Now it would be fantastic if you would take it out of multiplayer entirely. I mean nobody likes bloom because it all it does is slow down gameplay and ruin Halo. It made millions of Halo fans upset and leave Halo. So I ask you to please remove bloom from every playlist entirely and Reach would be perfect. Or at least from most playlists. Fast Paced gameplay is what Halo is all about in terms of multiplayer. Keep up the good work 343 :slight_smile:

Well i would like a Hammer Assassination

Elite On Spartan - The elite slides around in a spiral stops and then slams him in mid air with the hammer.

Elite On Elite - The elite shoots his energy daggers at the elite then throws the hammer at him like a spear. ( The dagger strike the face and the stomach )

Spartan On Elite - The Spartan jumps on the elite and then slams the hammer while standing on him in the face causing him to slam to the ground.

Spartan On Spartan - The Spartan hold the hammer backwards, slams the hammer upward causing it to hit the other spartan’s helmet also causing him to fall back a little then he turns the hammer upward slamming him down to the ground.

Now the dmr is bloomless and the pistol is like the ce pistol, the ar is useless to me and since the damage is bad on the assult rife compared to the dmr and ce pistol maybe in beta hoppers a game type with Ar’s having a faster fireing rate like in ce’s with the dmr and the ce pistol. :smiley:

I have some feedback. No game has clan systems anymore. Some have clan tags but that is pointless. A Clan System that is like HALO 2 clan system where you can invite friends and people to join. That was the greatest thing EVER!!!

I completely agree with that. Halo 2 was amazing with clans it really gave friends something to do and could go in and play other clans. No game has ever done clans since Halo 2 and Halo 2 is the only game to do clans they way they did. I really really think it would help and bring tons of players if it made a comeback.

I don’t like how bloom is. It takes 3 shots and I am dead; or one beat down, or three shots with a pistol. It gives a player no fighting chance. I think you should decrease the amount of damage it takes on a person because it seriously frustrates me and many others.

Armor Lock: It still knocks out your shields when you hit it or when they pop out of armor lock. I thought you weren’t suppose to take any damage?

All the other abilities are good, just that bleed needs to be fixed badly!

and you need to add in this feature to prevent camping “camping soft kill boundary”. If your in a area for over 60seconds a 10 second kill countdown will come up because we have so many people just sitting in one spot in the game and it really makes the game unfair. This is not COD or BF where camping in okay to do. Maybe increase the length of camping but not where you can stay in that radius for the whole game.

Also you seriously need to fix the spawn points on every map especially Asylum because many of us get spawn killed all the time. Also if a enemy is near by in some kind of radius you should not spawn. I know you can choose where to spawn but you shouldn’t have to worry about being spawn killed.

Also when your playing SWAT you should be able to take someone out by hitting them in the back of the head the same way you do when you shoot them in the front of the head. Not having you needing to aim a little lower on the head mainly towards to neck.

Also find a way to get rid of modders because I am sick of playing with people who teleport all over the place and losing games/dying when I don’t even have a fighting chance.

Also please get rid of the community maps in Team Slayer and put the community maps back into their own playlist

i like EVERYTHING except RoF needs to be decreased slightly on the magnum and a tad bit on the DMR. the needle rifle should remain dolphin gun, destroyer of worlds.

Okay. So far in the Halo franchise we have seen Spartan III’s and Master Chief who is a Spartan II. But you know what I wanna see?

I was hating Halo Reach hardcore but, then today that tu Beta playlist with the ZB Slayer I was amazed!!! It made Reach 100% better. It brought back the classic feel a bit. I would love to see you guys continue with the zero bloom and also get rid of all the annoying “perks” like armor lock and jet packs etc. just stick with sprint, or even better get rid of them all. Stick to a classic feel, it is great and for a game I nearly despise, it made me interested, and for once I was actually having fun. Soooooo… I LOVE!!! the zero bloom. If you could add a playlist or even modify the whole game with that I would absolutely pick up a Halo game again. BRING BACK THE CLASSIC HALO 3 RANKING SYSTEM! The 1-50 ranking system from Halo 3 and the zero bloom, Ohhhh maaannn that would just bring back old memories, and I know my friends and I would totally play the crap out of that.

I have my own Feedback based on the “TU Beta” Playlist:

Armour Lock: I thought this was going to be nerfed or something? Because every time I fought against someone with it, they still sit there, impervious to damage and stickies, as if the note on the Armour Ability was for nothing.

Zero Bloom: I find this very annoying. It practically turns a Needle Rifle or a DMR into a power weapon, considering the little effort that goes into having to aim and take your time to make every shot count.

Grenades: Did you do something to these? Because people seem to like spamming them at someone a lot more now.

Sword Block Removal: Oh please, I’m begging you, put this back in. The power that people have when they can sprint at you like a madman, and by the time they’re within lunging range they have no shields and half health? That’s why sword block was implemented. It might not be realistic, might not be practical, but as they say; it’s a video game, not real life.

Reduced Bloom but not full removal: This, I love. You still have to pace your shots, but it’s not to the extent that your loss is guaranteed if someone is close and spamming you.

Bleedthrough: This, is, Halo’s, promised, land. It made double pummeling less useful, and my shots that go into a guy sprinting at me count. For this I am truly thankful.

I’m still playing “TU Beta” So if this thread is truly where you post your feedback, I’ll be sure to have some more feedback. I thank 343 for their efforts of rebuilding the Halo community.
