I’ve looked around and this seem as good a place as any to make a request, though a redirect if there’s a better spot would be great.

More Vintage Fisticuffs. More Different Way to Campaign. These two series are what really hooked me into what Waypoint could be. It has been FAR too long since weve been hit with either one.

And only one vintage level each from Halo 1 and 2? For shame, caretakers. No, we need a good half dozen for each of those. Then shore up the numbers with 3 and ODST. Then it’ll be time for Vintage Reach Fisticuffs. Make it happen.

Was there ever any word on why those stopped? Mr. Verocious lazy confirmed.

Halo 4 should be like Halo 2 or 3 gameplay wise, essentially achieved by (in my mind) taking Reach and making these changes for Multiplayer:

  1. Removing bloom on precision weapons and instead add recoil the faster you shoot.
  2. Remove all AA’s except sprint and/or evade which everyone will start with.
  3. Remove loadouts for everything except invasion (should it return) and custom games.
  4. Get rid of turret overheating.
  5. Buff vehicle health, mainly the warthog’s, and make it stop being flipped by hitting a bump or a barrage of gunfire.
  6. Remove fall damage and health packs.
  7. Add the elephant too, because it’s awesome.
  8. Few forge maps should make it into matchmaking.
  9. Large maps should accommodate those who are walking with quick and safe areas to move through (i.e. the passage leading to the other side of the mountain on Avalanche or the side caves on Valhalla), driving, and flying. Medium maps should do the same but instead with mainly medium to light ground vehicles, and small maps shouldn’t have any, save a mongoose or two.
  10. More maps with buttons that affect things on the map.
  11. Grenades should be nerfed.
  12. Jump height and player speed should be increased.
  13. Melee’s should not pop your shield, only take down 75%, and then a second melee should kill.
  14. Melee bleedthrough should come back.
  15. Dual wielding should come back as well as items such as the SMG that work with it.
  16. Powerups should be returned to their former glory and be placed on maps.
  17. Equipment making a return?

Forge:
More like Halo 3 with more objects that can be moved by any force (including melees) and more destroyable items for use in making buttons, elevators, and the like. Budgets and item limits should be large on all maps. All items should be able to be fixed, phased, or normal, and when set on normal, no matter the size, should be able to be moved by any force. Items such as walls and blocks are more important and therefore should be in higher supply than they were in Reach. Objects should be diverse rather than just a bunch of grays and blues. We should be able to have more than just 2 lights. While weather effects would be cool, just adding a filter to have a similar effect would be cool too.

Theater:
Should be able to skip ahead and accommodate up to 4 people. Maybe have a feature to upload directly to YouTube.

Firefight:
Should be customizable like Reach, but should play like ODST where you are weak and trying to hold out for as long as possible with shared lives. Running out of a safe area should cause consequence (namely getting overwhelmed by a mass amount of enemies that were just dropped off). There should be areas to hold out. Rather than infinite ammo caches and different weapons to spawn with, the weapon cache should be limited and you must scavenge for weapons whether from fallen enemies or being power weapons located at certain points that respawn each set with the ammo caches, and you can only have basic weapons when you spawn such as an AR and a pistol, not something outrageous like a FRG. Large FF maps should support enemy vehicles such as choppers and wraiths.

Anything not mentioned here is pretty much fine as is, but that doesn’t mean I’m discouraging you guys from updating.

Team Snipers need more than Boardwalk, Reflection, Hemorrhage, Atom, Uncaged and the two DLC maps that rarely ever show up Tempest and Highlands.

Love this playlist the most, does not get enough love.

Weapons dropped on death vanish too quickly. I’m sure the vast majority of you have experienced an untimely death upon acquiring a power weapon. Your opponent has either decided not to pick it up in a close encounter or they have killed you from afar, so you decide to sprint back to retrieve the weapon in question … only to find that it has disappeared. I’m not entirely sure on the exact time period before weapons vanish once dropped, or whether this differs depending on the specific weapon, but it is an issue which irritates me considerably. It is especially problematic when it comes to playlists which involve larger maps, such as a Big Team Battle, for obvious reasons.

I posted this in the multiplayer section and I think its interesting feedback:

So I was playing the king of competitve FPS Quake Live last night and after being humbled as I usually am when I return to Quake and getting my Yoink! handed to me a couple things struck me relating to movement speeds/jump heights and how they work with weapon balance/game dynamic:

  1. Quakes movement speed/jump heights make aiming much harder, but also really help to balance the weapon Sandbox as landing shots with every weapon is difficult. They allow players to use all weapons effectively as you can get from long range to close range in less than a second allowing players to effectively use any weapon in the Sandbox. Players have to strategically use every weapon in the Sandbox to their advantage, but pure aiming skill will allow the best players to use for example the railgun at all ranges at a risk. They also allow for prediction shots with weapons like the grenade and rocket lancher.

  2. The insane movement speeds allow players to reach all weapons on the map relatively easy, whereas in Halo that is not the case. This creates for much more weapon variation and seemless gameplay. The weapons/power-ups are also on shorter timers which in case fits the extreme game pace.

  3. Quake is the prime example of how to balance and make a FPS with longer kill times with weapons as pick-ups,role-weapon balancing, and power-ups on the map.

So how does this relate to Halo? Well, as we know Halo also has weapon as pick-ups strategically placed on the map and power-ups. Halo has longer kill times, only in the case of Halo it comes from regnerating shields/health(except CE) not armor and health(which do not regenerate btw). Halo has emphasis on map control, as does Quake. Halo has weapon balancing and some weapons similar to Quake only it has differing reticles and movement speeds/jump heights. Now Quake is not like Halo, but it shares some similarites.The huge difference I think in what makes Quake a much better balanced FPS with similar layouts, is that Quakes much faster movement speeds/skill-based gameplay balances the weapon Sandbox and allows for much more weapon variation whereas Halos much slower almost tactical FPS movement speeds does not.

The flaw I see in Halo is that never once does player ability come into the balancing act. If you ignore the skill-requirement of balancing, role-weapon balancing (like Halo has) will always fall into RPS. . Halos sandbox is much more rock,paper,scissors as the result as encounters more likely come down to who has what weapon and player execution rather than player skill and strategy. Greater movement speeds would alleviate this problem and open the whole Sandbox up to players at all times.

I know alot of people might disagree with me, but I beg the question:
“Why did Bungie decide on tactical FPS movement speeds usually seen in games like CS and CoD for a more Arena FPS with longer kill times and weapons on the map as pick-ups?” Was it because it was made for the Xbox rather than the PC so they had to slow it down to compensate? Was it because they wanted it to be more tactical? This has always been the burning question in my mind about Halo, why the slower movement speeds/jump heights in a game like Halo? What advantages does it bring over faster movement speeds seen in a FPS like Quake with a similar layout? Why not increase the movement speeds significantly to allow for more weapon variation/better weapon balance and a more in depth FPS overall?

Now im not suggesting Quake movement speeds/jump heights but about half of that or faster movement speeds/higher less floaty jump heights would be very benefical to a FPS like Halo and I think it would open the whole Sandbox up and make it more balanced as well. I dont know the negative consesquences this could have on the game, but I am intrigued as to what Halo would be like with faster movement speeds and jump heights and thus more Arena like. I think it would be a much better balanced/ more in depth and dynamic FPS overall although and would alleviate any balance or weapon /variation problem. So, could Halo benefit from more Arena FPS movement speeds/jump heights(not exactly but closer) or are the current movement speeds/jump heights better? How does Halo benefit more from the slower movement speeds/jump heights it has now, rather than faster movement speeds/higher jumps that would open up the whole game?

  1. Remove all armor abilities except sprint Armor lock & Jetpack are blatant cheating and promote unskilled gameplay, other armor abilities are pointless

  2. Stop people from entering Multiplayer matchmaking until they have finished campaign on legendary, I have often seen new players who are still trying to work out how to change weapons and melee etc, how can they possibly be allowed in matchmaking

  3. Stop allowing groups bigger than team size into matchmaking, if you have 4 members of a group on one side and 2 on the other its pretty obvious that 9 times out of ten the two on the other team are going to play badly or betray or just AFK I’ve seen it again and again, it promotes cheating

  4. Stop mixed ability teams in matchmaking, it just doesn’t work, an inheritor+3 recruits does not equal 3 generals even if stats wise it does, in team games it is about team work, if you have no reasonable team mates then you are at a huge disadvantage, maybe think about having a skill level that maybe runs from 1-50 and match teams and opposing teams based on that :stuck_out_tongue:

  5. Stop quitters, there should be a 20’000 credit deduction per quit out and a 1 week ban from matchmaking every 5 quit outs, if you quit out 30 times in a month then your account gets reset to recruit

  6. Bring back the BR, personally I like the DMR, but I think there is no reason not to be able to have both in the game it would be quite interesting to see how BR vs DMR battles would go, so just bring back the BR and stop people moaning

  7. Power weapons need to be toned down, I really enjoy playing swat on countdown, it’s a good map, but playing it in slayer etc is horrible because it’s all about camping with armor lock or camo with the shotgun or sword, it really is pathetic and again promotes unskilled play, you should make sword and shotty 2 hit guns, slightly decrease the speed of shots from the concussion rifle, tone down the grenades, make being stuck a full shield remover instead of a kill

  8. Fix the lag/connection issues, if you are playing swat or snipers against people from a different country you don’t have much chance, also people who lag badly seem to be able to still shoot you properly while you can’t shoot them because they are lagging all over the place, you need to make it so that the laggy players are the ones who suffer, I actually think you should start using centralized servers, measure the delay on packets sent to users then introduce an offset delay for each user so that everyone in the game has the same chance

  9. Stop allowing under 16s to play, or introduce a kids section for them where they can play kiddy slayer where they all run around backwards shooting at the sky and teabagging each other after using 10 rounds of AR ammo to get one kill

  10. There is a lot of work that needs to be done with regard to the reach menu system, its a nightmare if you have a lot of films maps screenshots etc there is no organization, no rename function etc etc, you should also allow versions so that you can update files on your file share without losing all your downloads, films should be sortable by author, gametype, map etc, forgeworld maps should show up in your files and on the website as the real maps name instead of just sating forgeworld, its not much help is it, please do lots of work on the file management and on the website, also rendering videos should free, that is pretty obvious

  11. Stop sensoring the forum lol, i posted this as it’s own post in the main forum and it got removed for no reason at all other than the fact that they don’t like hearing the truth, what is wrong with you people

  12. GET ON WITH IT!!! I’ve been putting up with this for a year now, I paid for the game I expect to enjoy myselfct to enjoy myself

The Credit system currently used in Reach is really unfair on offline users. I’ve only ever been able to use Xbox Live once and because I did I can now earn only 100 credits per game. I understand that Bungie added this to prevent people from cheating their way to earning more credits but in doing so they made it worse for other members of the community. I hope that this can be fixed so that users in my position can rank up and unlock armor permutations just like everyone else.

I agree.

I think the first strike medal should be taken off from being a top medal in game modes where it can only be achieved once. Team slayer, my friend got a perfection, wasnt a top medal, first strike was, as always. I’m pretty sure perfection deserves it more. Likewise for many others.

And for halo anniversary it looks really cool for what I’ve seen. One of my fav things to hear was that the pistol will be the same halo 1 pistol, one of the first things that pops into my head when i think of halo 1. I was skeptic and kind of still am about bungie handing it off, but so far it looks like 343 has a good handle on it. Halo 4 will be the deciding factor on that though.

yeah, halo ce anniversary looks like it’s going to be a huge success, I know I’m going to play it, and on the bungie note at least 343 is being trusted with it, halo 4 would be a trainwreck if a company like treyarch was trusted to it, in my opinion only bungie or 343 can make a halo game, other developers would just make it feel like a reskinned cod game, so we got lucky.

This is the feedback thread so I’m prosuming it’s for the title update also.

Although I play limited Reach, from the Grifball community I do have some issues we would like to see resolved.

First, no Bomb Stop medals in Grifball. This is very sad to us as we prided ourselves as defenders.

Second, the bomb not showing up on the radar. This is one of the most annoying features that was removed from the Halo 3/Reach crossover.

Thirdly, the bomb plant does not show up on Radar. Very difficult to watch the radar in Grifball and have no idea where the plant is, although the bomb not showing up is a larger issue.

Lastly, the melee system. I don’t need to say more because I am sure its a broken record on the forums.

This place feels wrong. I feel bungie had a better feeling and touch when it came to having a forum. As a halo fan scens halo 2. I can say i feel you people should just leave halo alone. I feel halo should come back when the time is right and bungie feels its time for a new halo with their name.

Dear 343i, This is a MUST. As an active H3 player as myself I stand for all and say Please bring more support to H3. There are still derankers/cheaters/AFKers in every playlist ruining the game. We need double xp really bad and some sort of thing to keep the game alive. There are still well over 30,000 people still enjoying it and playing it like myself. And its the last place we can go to enjoy Halo and get away from the terrible disappointment known as Reach. Please 343i bring more support to H3.
