The Bad (Knowing the bad thingsyou can avoid, to make improvements)

If this is a game about a planet being invaded and being utterly destroyed by the entire covenant armada, wouldn’t you expect to witness the mass invasion and the planet’s annihilation? Where were the epic, large-scale battles? where were the moments where the player felt like a hero? It baffles me that these key moments are completely non-existent. Instead of a cut scene or epic level, the player is introduced to the covenant by this simple phrase, "The covenant is on Reach." I repeat the covenant is on Reach".

That’s it? It wasn’t even that great of a line. In fact, it was an awful line. 343, if you want to create an epic game, this isn’t the way to do it.

The same can be said with the game’s ending. The player hardly saw Reach in ruin. Sure Sword Base was in tatters, but that’s really the only indication that Reach is going to hell and perhaps the shipyards… Jeez Bungie, the game’s marketing message was “Remember Reach” and" From the beginning, you know the end" and the player hardly saw any of “the end”. How wasn’t this in the game? Why wasn’t the ending more dramatic? Why was the entire game lacking in dramatic and climatic effect? For a story that was supposed to be emotionally investing, removing the most dramatic moments was a huge mistake. Nothing stands out. Why is that the Halo 2 EA DEMO looked more like a city being invaded.

Up until the Defiant Map Pack did we see the things that SHOULD have been in the actual campaign it self. Reach being glassed, Cruisers glassing, we did not even see a Carrier even in the distance on Reach. It didn’t feel like a invasion. It took effort just to find the Cruisers in the distance on POA level. If you have to split the disc in two for multiplayer campaign you should 343.
Secondly, the campaign should’ve explored more interesting locations on Reach. Space, New Alexandria, and the mountainous areas were all neat, but it would’ve been better if you added to this collection. Bungiehad a whole world to work with. What about a snow, desert, or forest level? During the campaign, the player was always around the same terrain. After awhile, it got… boring. It all looked the same. It definitely looks pretty, but the same mountainous areas just don’t hold up after 2 levels. Again, lack of variety is your main problem. On Tip of the Spear we are after the engagement in the cutscene we are quickly and LITTERALLY the player is cut from the action. Succeed where Bungie lacked after Combat Evolved and so far Defiant Map Pack is a great first step.

What I want:

*- 1: A long campaign, no campaign that lasts 5 hours …

  • _2: A greater number of vehicles and resume vehicle such as Halo Wars “grizly” Rhino AMP …

That is what should change / replace / add in the next Halo for me.

I really don’t have any feedback to give, other than saying that all six games have impressed me so far. I guess I just want to say that I can’t wait for the next game, and I hope the story is just as good as what we’ve been getting :smiley:

No Yoink! that still happens, you can’t ban someone halfway through a game. That would be the ultimate Yoink! move!

The thing you need to remember is that AFKing for 1-3 games earns you nowhere near enough to rank up, and they’ll be banned by then.

I’d like to add some things.

  • Seriously, is this thread an April fool ?

  • The novels are great, but we already know that there are the Forerunner novels and the Onyx’s sequel coming soon. I think that’s fine, but there are already lots of books coming, so please wait a bit before announcing other unknown novels. :slight_smile:

  • What’s about the Halo 10th anniversary ? I hope there will be a real event to celebrate it. If there aren’t any Halo 1 remake… There should be something special, maybe at least a giant map pack with tons of legendary maps…

  • The Halo universe is going deeper, I love that. Continue to do it please. I hope there will be more events about post-Halo 3 events. Not only as novels, but rather as games ? Master Chief must have more adventures. And please, do NOT make Cortana to die in the next Halo title. I would also love to see the return of true Forerunners installations in the next Halo title. We just saw part of them in the last games (ODST and Reach), and I really miss the exploration of Alpha Halo and Delta Halo in the previous games. We should also see more of Jun in the near future…

  • If there will be a Halo with Kinect, I hope I won’t be obliged to buy and use Kinect, I hope the game would still be entirely controllable with a classic Xbox controller.

  • Halo Plushies FTW!!

I love Halo, and I think every games were great. I still play Reach and I hope the next title won’t come too soon, because reaching Inheritor rank is such a pain ! What about double-credits week-ends ? Thanks to listening the community as Bungie did, 343.

I would like to see the big come back of the battle rifle and why not a spartan IV project?
And what about all the lost Spartan like Kelly,Jun and Red Team ? In Reach , Jun said the Red Team was busy to the civilian evac, so you could maybe make campaign with this squad?
For me Halo Wars isn’t good but there are many things great like vehicules for maybe Halo “4”.
just a detail : in Reach, we’re armors are dirty not uggly but unpainted on the corners (i hate that! in halo 3 the armors were painted at all !)
And please stop cash graduation it’s too easy to rank up it was better in Halo 3
Oh and a last detail if you could make a code to put the weapon down useable online thats will be fantastic!!

-In Halo : Reach, i would like more power-up, helmet, and others kind of armors
-An others world forge with a new environnement ( as condemned )
-More gun ( or gun of halo 2 or 3 )? why not ? and new vehicles or old ( as the hornet )
-More kind of game with the grenade-laucher in new map where we have to use bouce in matchmaking or with the scarab ( the first team who destroy the other scarab win … ), game with two team of banshee and to the end some game with the Sword in the space against phantom
-A new longer campaign
-Map just for living dead
-bigest map for more players
-To custom the elite armor or choose the covenant class of our choices ( grunt, etc…)
-In forge world, more capacity of object, and several design for the same object ( as elevator or else)
-And a very very good system for betrayers ( sometimes i can’t expulse a player who betrayed me volontary !)

Forge World: I loves it! Alas, I would prefer to have options a little less monotone. Don’t get me wrong, I rarely play in Forge due to my own creative abilities, but the community has made some awesome maps, but having them all look and feel the same due to them being created from the same color palette is a little displeasing aesthetically.

My wish - I’d pay top dollar for every map remade (not in Forge). Remember that map pack that came out on disc for Halo 2? I would love to see something come out for Reach - or the next game in the future if need be - that showcased each map in high def glory!

Make a game about normal marines or Johnson

Make cortana bright pink

Halo Reach is an excellent game. However it feels that Bungie has let go of it. There needs to be a title update to fix some of the flaws that this game obviously has.

More motivation - Rank is a good idea but once a player reaches Mythic they no longer have motivation to play. A ranking system with visual effects would be better for shorter motivations.

Armor Lock - Ruins the gameplay and slows it down. Team Classic fixes this but this brings me to the biggest problem.

Bloom - The concept is their but it is not perfect. Either fix the bloom factor or get rid of it altogether and make it like Halo 2 or the older games where bloom was not so strong.

Extra Armor - Seems that this is not possible but if armor is not possible to be added for motivation for the higher ranks like Noble and higher ranks then a better ranking system is needed in Arena or a new idea.

For one all the halos is about some major epic batte. Relating here back in world war II america turned the tides during midway and gained the offensive. Yet barely anyone knows what happend in midway. I would like a halo focused on a planet that did do something for the human race or the covenant in any way that we didnt notice.

Here is my list of feedback.

Bloom: Do not remove it. It is a great mechanic but could use adjustments. it should get much bigger and reset faster so the person who paces is rewarded by a huge majority over the person who spams.

Grenades: Blast radius needs to be reduced by around 25% As they are right now, in normal playlists, the only way to avoid them is using Armour Lock.

Armour Lock: Reduce sustain time. Remove EMP. Remove “frost” effect.

Active Camo: Remove the “moving while camo’d makes you easier to be seen” thing and just make moving use camo alot faster then being stationary and make it last less time while stationary too.

Jetpack: no complaints

Sprint: no complaints

Evade: Maybe make it so if you are hit while evading to get a brief stun period to reduce its “i must escape this bad position I got myself into” effectiveness and perhaps make the delay in being able to fight after coming out of evade abit longer.

Drop Shield: no complaints

Hologram: Perhaps make it look abit more like normal players but make it so it doesn’t get a “red reticle” or a name over it’s head while being aimed at.

If I have forgotten any other abilities, it’s because there isn’t anything wrong with them.

Maps: This is the worst part by far. Needs less forgeworld. Perhaps add a “human” style version and an “covenant” version so its not all boring grey maps. As for the default maps, most of them suck and nothing much can be done about it.

Spawns: Just fix them. The game is meant to block spawns enemies are looking at but on many maps, it gets the exact opposite affect. Also, alot of maps have static spawns when they should have dynamic and other maps have the opposite.

Movement: Use the classic movement modifiers across the whole game. Feels much better to play.

Can’t think of anything else at the moment. I may add more at a later date.

Objective based game types need to have a greater incentive to win. There is too much Slayer type play. I understand this might help to a degree. However, for example I would like more CTF games to end in 3-2, 3-1 instead of always winning or losing by a 1-0 score.Players seem to sit on lead no matter how small. IMO that isn’t that fun for anybody. Even Basketball has a shot clock so you can’t just hold the ball indefinitely. A Credit Bonus or something is needed to entice players to go for the objective especially in the Objective playlist.

Ok guys now that 343 is taking over halo i think we should tell them what we want from the game that will provide a better experiance for the halo univerise. So this is what it will be in the form of a list.

  1. A brand new engine to work off of
  2. The ability to use a knife as a weapon
  3. Breaking guns and armor when they take to much armor they chip and break and get bullet holes
    4.Diffrent HUDs for each kind of helmet
  4. Custom redicles
  5. Big battles liked clamed in halo: reach
  6. 10v10 mutiplayer (higher multiplayer caps)
  7. Huge Mutiplayer maps
  8. Enviorment editor in forge
  9. Assassination creator
  10. buttons in forge (when hit select path and choose what it does)
  11. Paint mode in forge
  12. Elite Armory
  13. Pelicans in mutiplayer and forge
  14. Longer Campain
  15. Dark, grity, enviorment (see vidoc 1 halo: reach)
  16. Forge firefight
  17. Armor (elite and spartan) DLC
  18. ODST drop invsion ( see new halo game mode in bungie halo reach pinned fourm)
  19. All vehicles in halo are acsessable
  20. Fly a drop pod to the surface of a planet

  33. Firefight as diffrent charactors, grunts, elites, brutes, hunter etc…
  34. No ranks that arn’t military (inheritor, noble, etc…)
  35. New grenade (spread grenade it lands and spreads out in a circle not instant kill but does some damage)
  36. You can select mutiple objects and turn it into a path object like a falcon and make a vehicle with forge
  37. No campain paths instead large feilds that you walk through to get to a objective

Yes that took a long time to type :frowning: but i hope it was worth it 343 this is what i want. Fans what do YOU want from the next game post it here and we might just get it!!!

It’s weird, when my opponent has no shields the grenade will not kill him, but only lower his health, but when I or someone else has at least 25% shields still protecting them they will die of the grenade.

There has been a lot of discussion about the future of the Halo Gaming Franchise. Some have suggested a remake of the original Halo CE. Others have pointed at the cliffhanger at the end of the Halo 3 campaign as a sign of a brand new storyline involving Master Chief and Cortana. My personal suggestion would be a detailed account of the events between Halo CE and Halo 2, using the book Halo: First Strike as a template. But regardless of the campaign, I have an idea for what could make Firefight Multiplayer an even more amazing experience. 343 Industries, get ready, cause here it comes.

The addition of the opportunity to play as the Elites in Firefight in Halo Reach was not only innovative, but the inspiration for the idea I would like to propose.

Imagine it… Your spartan stands ready to defend your favorite firefight map from the covenant, as always, plus beside you stand computer controlled Marines and ODSTs, when a new threat arrives. Swarms of parasitic zombies, infamously known as The Flood now blanket the area still filled with Covenant. Your job… is to annihilate all opposing threats, both Covenant and the Flood.

Like Halo Reach, you can also join the Elites and vanquish the humans while attempting to contain the infectious parasite, with Brutes and other covenant fighting at your side, much like the Marines and ODSTs assist the Spartans.

Not a big fan of the Covenant? Sick of fighting as a human? Good, cause I saved the best part for last. This new 3 Way FFA Firefight mode gives Halo fans what they’ve wanted since the release of Halo Wars… A playable Flood. Experience what its like to take on both sides of the Halo Wars in an all-out rampage to feed the Gravemind.

This new game mode would stretch the boundaries we know of, not only in gaming mechanics, but in NPC Intelligence. The pure hectic true Firefight of always defending yourself from 2 opposing forces, no matter which team you choose would bring to the new Halo title what Bungie always wanted from the Firefight game mode… An insane fight to survive. It would take a great deal of design and planning. And I wouldnt be terribly upset if it wasnt practical enough, but the word has to get out if anyone is even going to look into it. I guess thats really all I want from 343, is to at least give it the old college try

Noticed that tanks get bullet holes in BFBC2, i think this would be cool

In Reach i would like more pistol ammo, just two or three more bullets, also a guardian and midship remake

In new halos i would like to see the BR come back also the faster movement of the older halos. I also would like AAs and Bloom to leave and never come back

-Some real Brutes, like Halo 2: Very strong, very aggressive, very resistant and uh… “GNIHIHOUHAHAHA !!”
-Some funny Grunts !
-Some Marines who say idiots things !
-Glorious Elites, with honor (And allied with us ?). And they have their real armor like Halo 2: Only the color change ! And the Zealot are gold ! Not like in Halo: Reach ! And Only with a Sword and Plasma rifle ! Not a Rod canon or others big weapon ! It’s for Grunts and Brutes !
-Forerunners structures back !
-Musics like the real Halo ! (Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3. Halo 3 ODST is an exception, but I still love the music !)
-We are Master Chief ! (That, I think it’s sure)
-Halo 3’s light effects. On Reach, they not cool. In Halo 3, it was beautiful.
-Battle rifle Back ! SMGs too ! Turret minigun too ! BruteShot too (and others brute’s gun) ! Carbine !
-A REAL MULTIPLAYER LIKE HALO 3: EGALITY ! NOT THIS SYSTEM OF CLASSES ! And please ! Not the Armor Lock in multiplayer ! That’s the awful things !

There are some other little things I would like, but I think the other fans will complete me :slight_smile:

So as long as we’re discussing things that should be brought back, I got a few for you.

Dual Wielding.
I understand the Needler being an exception. I played the Halo 2 Online MP… I remember the original “Fear The Pink Mist” moments.

But the SMG, the Spiker, the Plasma Rifle… Those guns are dramatically underpowered in PvP game modes when you can only carry one. (However, if you bring back the Mauler, it too needs to be an exception, Dual Wielding a 2 shot weapon isnt necessary)

The Magnum’s current damage makes it, too, a little sketchy in Dual Wield scenarios, so consider this. Remove the Magnum as a weapon in the games weapon set. Make it so that everyone has 3 weapons. Thir primary, their secondary, and their sidearm. I think this to be a little more physically accurate as well

And while we’re discussing the Plasma Rifle, the decision to revisit the Brute Plasma Rifle in ODST was phenominal, and should be a serious consideration for future Halo games, but in addition to, not in replace of the original Plasma Rifle

And finally, as a veteran Warthog gunner, the mechanics of the Halo 3 Warthog machine turret were by far the best. In Reach any turret is so inaccurate that youre better off getting your Assault Rifle out and sitting in the passenger seat. If you are concerned about the Warthog being overpowered in PvP combat, the overheating feature in Reach was tolerable, but please fix the accuracy. Its the right thing to do.
