THE OFFICIAL HALO FEEDBACK THREAD

Dear Admin,

Please pass this on to the artists @ 343. What in THE HELL happened to the look of the Master Chief. Shouldn’t he look at least as cool as the people from Noble Team? He looks like he was drawn by somebody who never played the original game? Please look at the MC Helmet from H3 as a Model, or look at the Spartans from Halo Wars. I don’t know what happened to the MC in the E3 Anniversary Trailer…but he looked like a goob. Please resolve this so he atleast looks like he did in the original game, but w/ more detail. Also what’s with the box art of the MC w/ the Pistol? Is he supposed to look like the MC or Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat???

Personally I cannot stand how Master Chief now looks now why would somebody deliberatly mess with a perfectly good design that has become so iconic in the games history. let us not forget that he is in cryo sleep that means he does not change out of what he is in especially when there is no other suits and no oxygen on the back half of of the forward unto dawn.

IT IS JUST NOT LOGICAL AND IS A SLAP TO THE FACE OF ALL THE FANS WHO LOVE HALO!!!

If 343 wants to keep their fans happy get rid of the change on the armor and get Jen Taylor back to voice Cortana NO MATTER WHAT then we will worry about what all is going to happen in the game until then i expect to see some changes or else i dont think this studio should eve publish another halo if they cannot get the MC’s Suit right i mean come on how hard is it for real.

Just one thing for Halo CE:Anniversary

Red Vs Blue firefight voices! So I can shoot an Elite and be like “You’ve just been SARGED!”

You know I’m right 343i…you know it…

God…some people are never happy.

I bet you anything if it had stayed the same you would be spiting out things like “Oh wow, no redesign? Same thing for the past 5 Years? LAME”

And for a start, thats your Opinion, and IMO it looks great, apart from the …eh…Bulge…

But thats also my Opinion.

Also…ITS A BLOODY VIDEO GAME

For example, Valve, one of the best story tellers in the industry, KNOWN for keeping the lore straight, but even valve change and upgrade things every once and and a while. Im looking at H4 as i looked at the transitions from HL1 to HL2 or Portal 1 to Portal 2, alot of things changed in those transitions, Why? Because they could, they Had more time and better tools at ther disposal, going by your logic, Halo 4 Should look the same as Halo 2 or 3?

I think a new art style will signify a new beginning for Halo now that 343i are at the helm, but um…yeah, please put something over the the uh…‘bulge’, a man has to protect that area, we don’t an elite to “hit his weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE!”

343 I hear a rumor that we will be fighting an entire new alien enemy. That is a nono. You have to bring back the flood. If we face a new enemy the only possibility should be maybe the precursors which in itself is a stretch. The forunners as an enemy could make since but not really because they should hold no grudge against us. Any way please don’t screw this up, this is the best sci-fi series since Starwars and it can and will be better aslong as you play your cards right. Good Luck.

two things one can we have some maps that can be a hazard like in gears 2 the lava coming up so maybe the robots fly by and attack every so often but let us be able to shoot them and second im not asking it to be just like gears but come on your cut with a sword and still in one piece ? and a frag grenade kills you and your in one piece ? and how do you bleed through your armor now i know halo is 100 % fiction but can that be explained ?

Bring back the Halo 2 Ranking system!! It was drastically better then the system your using now! Thats literally the only thing Reach is missing. I hate seeing unqualified players with high ranks, make the game skill based not time consuming… Stop revolving your game around the casual player, your losing dedicated shooter fans. Make it hard to rank up! Plus the Halo 2 rank system was unique, it set the online gaming for Halo apart from the other online shooters. Don’t conform!!

I could go without abilities, or just keeping it to a sprint ability. Have a “hidden” invisibility on each map that re-spawns.

Halo Reach was an incredible game, the physics of it were awesome… So much more enjoyable then Halo 3! Don’t change that aspect of the game, the physics are right where they need to be.

Bring back Beaver Creek!

My opinion for Halo 4:

-Take from Halo CE - 3 weapon mechanics and add to it, don’t try to rework anything, unless it really needed it.

-Back to Halo 2 - 3 movement speed and gravity (obviously seeing we’re Master Chief again). But hopefully we see something as revolutionary as armor abilities, that doesn’t disrupt the flow of the gameplay like armor lock and the occasional jet pack did.

-Beta, will really help. Actually have a decent time frame between the beta and the release date. In other words, the beta should be real early next year so we can have a REAL say on what needs changes for the long term effect, not just what’s bugged.

-I know its a quick CGI cutscene a year n a half advance but fix what seemed off about chiefs armor, his legs seemed lacking and his back seemed back with the jetpack, please no armor abilities. Liked them in Reach but that’s about it.

-A working transport fighting vehicle, doesn’t quite have to be a pelican but would be nice to have more than a falcon, where we can have multiple passenger seats and 1 - 2 guns.

-Start with a wide variety of enemies, while we don’t know our story yet atleast have a shout out to the old Covenant number of enemies to square off against. (Elites, Grunts, Jackals, Hunters, Drones, Brutes, Skirmishers) Hopefully all the enemies have unique abilities, not like all the other shooters where its just guys with different guns where it doesnt matter once you kill them anyway.

-Epic battle. Not quite done yet, and by epic i mean hundreds of enemies on screen at a point, while it is only the beginning of the new trilogy might as well start with some hint at expansive battles.

-Lots of customization for multiplayer, 3 had great selection, and reach gave us the armory with multiple different subsections from helmet to kneepads, keep it simple but in an abundance. I dont think we need armor effects, but style paints, but nothing extreme could be cool.

-Start with a healthy number of multiplayer maps, with a solid 3 of each type meaning; Small (Guardian), Medium (Last Resort), Large (Sandtrap).

-Please have forge, it’s safe to assume you will, with a possible forge world like Reach.

-The whole motion blur thing while moving in Reach got a little annoying after awhile in my opinion.

-A new burst weapon that isn’t the BR, nothing against the BR, just something new with a possible little blowback.

-Seeing chief is crash landing on an “alien” structure. he’s bound to possibly not have any weapons that we aren’t used to, this leaves a huge door for some creativity.

-A pistol, a real pistol.

-Many, MANY different vehicles. While this has never been a problem in Halo, it looks like (from my assumption) a forerunner planet so that’s bound to have quite the selection.

-12v12 multiplayer matches.

-Epic music is a must, I don’t know who’s composing for the game, I’m assuming Marty isn’t seeing he works for Bungie but it’d be nice to bring him in on a couple things to give the Chief his due when it comes to the music.

Please keep that “large-scale, galactic battle, vast universe” feel to the Halo games. Halo: Reach felt a little too small in terms of scale.

I want to explore the spaces of the Halo universe without being restricted to “Activate that button.”

I want to look out at a landscape and think “Hey, I can go there!” or “Hey, I can go explore over there!”
Please don’t let any of your games have motion blur like Reach did in its Campaign.

Good luck 343i.

I have really high hopes and a lot of faith in your abilities to pick up where Bungie left off and to even do better!

I think the Chief model we saw in the E3 Anniversary footage is little more than a glorified placeholder right now, I hope so at least. It looks like a basic mesh with rough lighting added, it looks nowhere near finished. Look how much CE changed from trailer 1 to final. Please make sure you get Chief right in Anniversary, it’s looking mindblowing. Basically, make him look like the cover art that’s doing the circuit, but the old green, and you have a winner:)

> Personally I cannot stand how Master Chief let us not forget that he is in cryo sleep that means he does not change out of what he is in especially when there is no other suits and no oxygen on the back half of of the forward unto dawn.

The explosions coming out of the side of the Dawn as it’s pulled toward that bigger ship in the teaser suggest there is oxygen in some parts of the ship. Just because it’s zero-G doesn’t mean there’s no oxygen.

> Please keep that “large-scale, galactic battle, vast universe” feel to the Halo games. Halo: Reach felt a little too small in terms of scale.

I agree with that assessment, I think we will all be happy with the return of large scale battles. I think reach was lacking because the story was established in such a manner to allow the players to experience the battles from a squad perspective, but now that the one man wrecking ball in master chief is back, I cannot imagine 343 not maximizing on the large scale battles marine vs. enemy with master chief running things like only MC knows how.

Yes you have a valid point in that. I was mostly taking into consideration that the ship as cut in half by the dyson sphere closing on the ship.

Also, I am fully up for redesign completly i can understand how one thing over the course of time can be a bit tiresome but at least we would need a reason and an explination fo the redesign, not just have it happen and just hope the fans accept it with out any though or idea of how thoes said supplies got there all the way out into the void of space whit no real logical way for him to change mid cryo sleep and then wake up and fully know how to use ever new detail with the new set of armor.

All I am really saying is that the people who play thes games have a mind to understand the dynamics of change and fully appreciate it when it happens especailly if it happens to be to a very iconic Character like the Master Chief.

Now personally what Bungie did for Reach and being able to customize your character and have it show on screen and be apart of the character really added a feel that you were choosing some part for that character and added even more sence of depth to the character. Granted everybody has their own opinions on the said subject but i think that being a new trilogy you could throw out some of the old rules and start anew in certian aspects. I mean we all play as the Chief shouldnt he reflect what we think of him and how we choose for him too look or not is entirely up to the developers.

Halo is a great franchise and it has so much potential i just want to see it go furthure as much as possible and if that is me expressing what i can on a forum i am more than happy to do so. Whethere 343i decides to listen is entierly up to them but I do expect them to do their very best to make the fans as happy by looking into what everyone says and make every stride to make the best Halo possible.

Please don’t make “halo reach 2”.Halo 4 is after Halo 3 so no more AA’s , bloom, DMR( BR must back).
Give us a lot of skill in MP. And mabye fix halo reach because now it’s game for noobs

love Wasyl

Yeah, Reach felt more like a little military mission rather than a huge adventure. I wasn’t a fan of the squad perspective idea. Although Reach does tell a great story.

I trust 343 will make Halo 4 what we all are hoping for.

The main problem I have with reach is the BLOOM and AA’s. And that’s is basicly about the MP part. Remove AA’s it totally ruins the gameplay. And the bloom? Why do you wanna add a luck factor to a game, it makes no sense. Remove the bloom make the Halo 4 MP like Halo CE mp or Halo 2 MP.

What you are gonna make off the SP I really don’t care. As long as the MP is good

Regarding Halo 4, with all due respect for people who designed the Chief’s new Mjolnir armor, I think you guys should go back to the Mark VI. The armor featured in the trailer seemed to anime-ish if that makes any sense, and the MC’s cup is…huge (watch where you point that thing!). I’ve read somewhere that the armor featured in the teaser is part artist interpretation, and if it is, I hope we get to see the new armor soon.

For Anniversary, I hope you guys aren’t done with designing the Halo ring. Judging from its brief appearance in the trailer and from what I’ve seen of the main screen, the actual Halo is missing that clean look on the outer side we’ve come to know of Forerunners and was featured in Halo 1 and 3. The inner side of the Halo does not look it has an atmosphere.

For Halo 4’s multiplayer, I hope you guys move away from Reach’s model and return to the model of Halo 2 and 3. I think most of the armor abilities need to be removed (sprint, jetpack, evade, armor lock especially, drop shield). Sprint hurts the base player speed and encourages it to move at a slower pace than what we’re used to in MC’s shoes, Evade makes sword and shotgun hard to, er, evade up close, Jetpack limits player’s options because a fall damage and a stun effect are needed to prevent people from using it, Armor Lock is the great equalizer and encourages folks to be careless in multiplayer because they don’t have to fear from the consequences (and I like my sticky kills to be a guaranteed kill), and the drop shield needs to be split back into its two components that were in Halo 3.

Basically, armor abilities need to be scaled back to their equipment counterparts in Halo 3. The bubble shield, regenerator, energy drainer, gravity lift, trip mine, the hologram, However, they should be treated like semi-power weapons in that they should be pick-ups and their respawn times should fall between the spawn times of regular weapons and the spawn times of power weapons.

The jump height and base movement speed should at least be as much as Halo 3’s, and there should be no fall damage or stun effect. Their corresponding settings in Reach help inhibit my enjoyment of the multiplayer. No longer is it fun to jump around.

Mancannons should also make a return. They are one of the single funnest additions to Halo’s multiplayer in the series ten-year lifespan. There’s nothing quite like being vaulted into the air and landing harmlessly dozens of feet away.

In regards to Halo 4’s campaign, look to: Halo 3 for gameplay and size and design of encounters; ODST for the atmosphere; Reach for consistency in level quality, presentation, and gun feedback (but no bloom!); Halo 2 for the story; and Halo: Combat Evolved for that sense of awe and wonder, level design (a single objective for a single mission) and how your weapon choices affect how you approach the rest of the level.

I would say more, but I feel this post is already long enough.

Meh, i like the look of a more detailed chief armor, but i get your point, it’s not what we’re used too

Nice job to 343i and everyone involved for the recent HALO: Anniversary and HALO 4 reveals. Looking good.
