Your internet connection is still all on you. If it drops out and you have no other options then you will have to put up with a few bans along the way.

Immediately lost connection to a game when a friend got online and opened up halo. Got the same “fireteam has changed” error in the middle of an infection game, lost connection simultaneously and immediately got banned. Real tired of this -Yoink-.

if you lose connection during the post game sequence, credits, you are being banned for the game or two before where you quit. you dont get banned for finishing a game.
So I haven’t played this game in like 6 months so I decide to pick it up and play. I get through a few matches and then after the game finishes and its attempting to setup the next lobby I get a message saying I’ve been disconnected. I go back to the arena matchmaking and it says I’ve been banned. WTF? I don’t use a mic, don’t have a modded Xbox or anything, no one else uses my account and I haven’t played in at least 6 months. It’s happened twice today in about 2.5-3 hours of play. In that time I’ve done like 50 arena games and only rage quit twice. (I mean sometimes it happens).
Whats the deal?

Well played 3 games and got banned for 7 hours and 5 min. I didn’t quit a single match. I might be slightly pissed.
I’m pissed. Through all my experience playing every single halo release from the original back in 2001 till now… I’ve probably quit less games than I can count on one hand… the past couple days I’ve experienced for the first time ever… getting DC’D on my Xbox One playing Halo 5… on a fiber Internet connection with ethernet… it’s usually very stable.
But when I was recently DC’D I didn’t think much of it besides being moderately annoyed.
Now today… I did purposely quit one game of doubles… because my teammate quit, someone else joined and then quit…
I figured… quitting one game… there can’t be a reprocussion from that… WRONG!!! Now I’m banned.
Long time loyal console buyer here… bought 3 XBOX 360’s even cuz those POS consoles had the red ring of death problem, and original xbox and a one… with every friggin version of Halo ever created… and this is the thanks I get for being a loyal customer. A ban!?!
Between this and the crappy experience with the buggy Halo MCC this past year… I gotta say I’m not very impressed 343.
I’m probably not like most gamers. I’m nearly 40 years old and a single father of 3. So this Father’s Day I woke up at 7am to do what I wanted to do… relax and play some Halo. Well you can see how that turned out.
Maybe I should do what all my friends suggest… pick up a Playstation.

Your game history shows that you have more than 20 unfinished matches logged in the last week, that will have contributed to your ban. Also, to get a ban of 7 hours means that you will have been banned previously several times to reach that level
Banned after one game ? Is this a thing ? I know you’ll get banned after quitting too many games, but I just got on Halo 5 after not playing for like a month, and my partner lagged out so I left to rejoin them, and I got banned. Is this really a thing now ? I’m not a quitter so this comes as a surprise to me.
I really think 343 needs to change its ban system. Thank you for banning me because of being disconnected, I didn’t choose to quit, I was forced out of a match and I got a ban…God knows for how long, this ban system seriously sucks. I never lag with other games, I never even lag in halo… but miraculously I get the disconnected message and 343’s stupid ban hammer strikes.
it’s probably the worst ban system yet. I didn’t pay 65 dollars not to be able to play online. Ban players who are idle, who quit intentionally… why in the world are players even in the ban system if they disconnect? 343… you guys really need to follow up on players who disconnect and not ban them, I’m pretty sure its on your end of the game. I never have disconnecting issues, only halo… halo is cursed with this message and bans me always. I’m sick of this, I miss bungie
I think 343 should get rid of banning completely bec for 1 they lose fans for that and 2 if your banning people who kill team members maybe you should make it where you can’t kill your own team and 3 it’s very annoying and irritating and ridiculous
I received an 8 hour ban for ACCIDENTALLY backing off a ledge while firing at enemy, obviously resulting in suicide. Unjustified?? Please help! I promise I won’t run backwards anymore!
Feel free to check out my previous game to see if I am lying but, playing in a team of 3 in Team Arena, and I get kicked from the game while we are playing it says my fireteam has changed and I rank down, on top of that I get further rank downs due to a Banhammer that came along with it. I thought the Banhammer sat a few games behind to monitor patterns? I got kicked from that game because of YOUR servers, and I payed the price for it, now my friends are being punished too because we can’t play any games for the an duration. Not to mention losing the game as a result. I have been pretty calm with the crap I’ve experienced with this game so far. But if you don’t help me out this time with an explanation then that’s it. I can only take so much punishment from you.
I I keep getting ban Radomly I would be just done a game and at the lobby screen then it will say I’m banned or even at the mode select lobby I have left a few games cause of lag but it was a 15 min ban then it started happening and now it is at 8 hour ban can you please do something???
