> The ban hammer rule needs to fixed for the fact the social playlists are now involved it needs to be updated for the fact rage quitting happens or a kid needs to go do something in real life and they get banned for the fact that life gets in the way of multiplayer gameplay like seriously ranked play I see the system working perfectly but social needs to fixed.
This is so true. Nobody should get banned for leaving a social playlist.

> The following FAQ should answer some of your questions about Halo 5 bans. We will update this FAQ as necessary.
>
> I received an in-game message saying I have been banned. Why?
> If you are checking this page because of an in-game message, it is likely that you have been banned for violating the terms of use and/or committing a code of conduct violation. It is also possible, in the case of an especially egregious violation, that your Xbox One system itself is now banned from Matchmaking. The duration of this ban is based on the type, frequency or nature of the committed violation. In most cases, Custom Games will still be available. In extreme cases, they will not.
>
> How can I tell how long I was banned for?
> Ban duration will be shown on the red ban screen as the ban hammer strikes. First offences are generally low and last only a few minutes, but will increase in duration incrementally with each subsequent ban. The ban timer itself displays times as follows -
> Days : Hours : Minutes : Seconds
>
> What types of actions can result in a ban?
> Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
>
> - Modifying your Xbox One hardware or game software and services in any way.
> - Idling through games, habitual quitting/suiciding/betraying, or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
> - Impersonating a 343 Industries or Microsoft employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players.
> Why was I banned for winning a match / quitting one match / quitting a custom game? *
> You werenāt. The ban system runs at least 1 game behind so your ban will have been placed for a previous offence. After completing your next event, whether it is a matchmaking game, custom game, forge session, spectating a friend or viewing theatre, the system will then show you a message telling you that you have been banned. As it takes more than a single offence to earn a ban you will never be banned for leaving one match, it will be multiple offences that have led to a ban being placed on your account.
>
> I shouldnāt be banned. My brother/sister/cousin/dad/mom/friend mustāve logged on with my account and done bad things. Will you please reverse my ban?
> If this is indeed the case, we do understand your frustration. However, it is your sole responsibility to keep your account information secure and not share it with others who would abuse it. We have no way of detecting who is playing with your account, and if your gamertag is caught making naughty, you will be banned. Those are the rules.
>
> I didnāt do anything wrong, and you canāt prove it. Will you please reverse my ban?
> Our automated system builds up a digital case of wrongdoing before any ban is enacted. If you accidentally disconnect a time or two, you wonāt get banned. Instead the system looks for patterns that canāt happen accidentally. If the banhammer detects enough wrongdoing, you were doing wrong.
>
> Will posting in this thread guarantee my ban will be lifted and that someone will respond personally to every post?
> Unfortunately, no. We simply donāt have enough eyes, ears and typing hands to respond to every single post. However, the community will help keep you honest. You have a public game history for everyone to see. If you post you were banned unjustly, the community is in their rights to check out your history to confirm or deny your claims. Please, just keep it clean.
>
> The purpose of this thread is to keep all questions pertaining to bans in one place. Without a megathread for such questions, the rest of the forum will almost certainly turn into a cavalcade of ban questions.
>
> If you were banned and think you have a case, this is the ONLY thread you should post in. If other moderators see posts pertaining to bans in other threads, they will either be deleted outright or a kind-hearted mod might just move the posts to this thread.
>
> If any users are caught habitually spamming ban threads in other threads, we will consider that a violation of the forum Terms of Use. You will risk being banned here as well. We donāt want to have to ban anyone, but we do want an open, honest and positive place to post about all things Halo, so a thread like this is necessary.

I hate the banning system. I get banned for hours for loosing connection or something that makes no sense
Hey why isnāt 343s Halo 5 banning itself for dropping players? Seems like a double standard to ban us yet not punish themselves for the same behavior.
Hey can someone please remove my my ban. Earlier today I quit a ffa because i was rubber banding due to lag. I just won a free for all, game ended and then it said I lost connection and the banhammer struck. I can still see the score of the game when I press select. Can someone please help me.
Just received my 2nd ban in as many days. This time due to fireteam issues. Iāve been getting a āfireteam has changedā error everytime it crashes. Happened twice in a row in the pregame lobby and then again in the second round of a game of infection. Banned for not finishing matches. Not only do I get screwed out of playing and finishing matches, but now Iām getting banned for it. 343/Microsoft, you guys are embarrassing.
Make that a 3rd ban in 2 days. Once again, fireteam has changed error message. Stopped trying with a fireteam, finished one game and then next game that was booting up, disconnected again with a fireteam has changed message. Just as I suspected, Iām up to a 40 minute ban now for putting up with this crap, why do we even pay for xbox live/halo if itās just gonna be crap?
I have absolutely no idea why I have been banned. I donāt even play with a mic so it canāt be for bad language. We have also had multiple storms that have made the Internet/power go off. I really hope this is a mistake because if Iām banned from a game I spent $60 on this will be the last $60 you ever get from me.
While I understand that the system runs one game behind, the only thing I did was quit one game, and play a different game. I had to back out of a game to take care of something for my daughter⦠I do not have a habit of quitting early, in fact I hate it when other players do it. But is one game that big of an offense to ban a player for 9 hours⦠thatās how long Iām banned from Arenaā¦
Iāve been banned permanently once for no reason and it only lasted around a few seconds before someone probably realised they screwed up. Thank you for whoever did that.
Today after lagging out of one game, several matches later I was banned again for a couple of seconds due to āquitting too many gamesā despite just lagging out of one.
This gameās banning system blows, now compensate me with ten gold REQ packs for making me mad and wasting my time please and thank you.
Yes i quit a few games in the past month, so what? My life doesnt revolve around halo. When your crappy servers kick me 3 times mid game and count as me quittting, seems as though you need to fix your detection systems for quitters. If you cant properly determine when ppl quit vs your servers cutting put, how can you bann ppl? I recorded the most recent one. Fix your broken game pr ask bungie for help.

It can and does detect between quits through the menu and dropping of the server, what it cannot detect is why the disconnect happens. Itās note currently possible to know if the server itself is what caused the connections drop or if the player simply dashboarded / turned off their box / unplugged their ethernet cable / turned off wifi. All of those have the same effect,

This is why I argue that the system is dumb and should not exist (like other games). Lets say Iām a judgeā¦
āI canāt decide whether you committed murder, manslaughter, if another person committed the murder or if this was a suicide but Iām going to give you life in prisonā.
What I donāt get is that I I have had multiple FFA games that I have one 1st place on⦠Yet they still show up as DNF⦠I live in a very rural area and I donāt get the best internet but itās all that is available⦠I have been banned so many times I canāt count any more⦠They banned my for over 48 hours once.
