I went and rebought the MCC after i kept getting disconnected and my ban time increased all the way up to 24hrs. I’m kind of afraid to play halo 5 sometimes.

Your ban hammer came right on down after I made several attempt to play and the game kept booting me due to server issues! I know my router configuration is correct and I know my connection speed is awesome. So the game is imperfect and that part needs to be admitted because you have enough people who work in similar fields who know what their talking about. This is getting ridiculous!

I hope to god you guys don’t make halo 6. Pitiful trash this game has become under your command. I regret buying this game this month, along with my $400 xb1 which was only for halo 5, what a bad decision…

What’s the quickest way to tell the poster’s age? They resort to the old “I’m gonna get a lawyer and sue” or some derivative. Makes it painfully obvious you’re under 12 and never getting a lawyer. Especially when all the adults know there’s absolutely no case here that’d make it to court…

Dude in the last 10 matches you played you quit 8. Disconnects, while still counted against you, don’t show up on your game history as DNF’s. Only games you intentionally quit out of do. And you’ve quit 80% of your last 10 matches. “Why was I banhammered 343? You suck for banning me! I did nothing wrong!”

Don’t really know about (disconnect not showing) cause he had two matches that show none of his statistics. I’ve had some matches where players were booted right after match deploy count down and match only show 3 players intro scene. When I looked at carnage results, it showed he had left without any statistic result. Other than that, he did quit 6 as DNF.

“PnP”?
Or what you’re trying to say is “UPnP”?

Online isn’t free on PS4 bro. A simple google search would tell you this.
DNFs (Did Not Finish) should not stack pile like they do.
It shouldn’t be, “Quit X amount of games = Ban”, but rather something like, “Quit X amount of games in a certain time period = Ban”, with a cool-down period.
That’s the reason players are confused about the bans, and you get stuff like, “I only quit one game!”
It’s because the last time they quit was two days ago, and they don’t remember that. But, like I said, it was days ago. Those quit should’ve been forgiven. The people who should be banned are habitual quitters, not the average dude who just had a bad game.

Easy on the caps there. I’ve mentioned this a few times, including on the previous page, but a fast connection does not automatically mean a perfectly stable one. Even in 2016 there are still a huge amount of factors that should be taken into consideration when dealing with network connections, Wired vs. Wifi certainly being the biggest one.

That’s what the current system does though, it tracks patterns of quits, betrayals and AFK’s over time and strikes the hammer accordinly. If it did track any of this data nobody would ever get banned. We’d all be suffering team killing, idling and quitting without any sort of repercussions because the next day all would be forgiven.
I think the main problem with the ban hammer in Halo 5 is that it works and players don’t like that they’re finally getting proper action taken against them

This may work very well in cases of betrayals and intentional suiciding, but many players have been banned simply because they had network issues one too many times. For now, the banhammer has no way to positively distinguish between network based disconnecting and intentional quitting. A lot of players don’t intentionally quit games and are actually innocent, but the system interprets their disconnects as intentional quits, and infers that they have done wrong. OP’s notion that “*f the banhammer detects enough wrongdoing, you were doing wrong” is not just disingenuous, it is flat out incorrect.

And you would be wrong for the same exact reason. Repeating yourself doesn’t correct your mistake. You take OP on his word that disconnecting one or two times won’t result in a ban without examining the observable reality. Many players actually have been getting banned for disconnecting from a couple of games. The “digital case” against many players is based on an inference (not confirmed fact) that a player MUST have been doing wrong because they disconnected from a couple of games.

The system does not work. This right here proves it.
I’ve mentioned this a few times, including on the previous page, but a fast connection does not automatically mean a perfectly stable one. If it worked people would not get banned for a network dropping. It 2016 and we can stream movies, send data everywhere in seconds but yet the BanHammer can’t tell if it’s a disconnect. Hell at work we can tell if it is a network issue or if some one just unplugged a cord or shut down a pc, yet 343I still can’t… sounds like a incompetent company to me. Lets just punish people even if it’s not their fault so we can thin down the population more. We don’t need anyone playing our game. Then all you people who whine about quitters can whine that t=it takes 5- 15 mins just to get into a match because of the low Pop. Do you know what would cull some of the quiters (not all)… a desent ranking and matching system.
Good or bad, whether you leave for quitting, or just get disconnected, as hard as that last one might be, it’s still players leaving games.
Checking to see if a player left on purpose, or for a genuine connection reason would not work. If they changed the system to detect genuine disconnects, and didn’t ban those players, then when somebody wanted to simply quit, they would just pull the plug on the LAN or disconnect via whatever means. They would be able to easily circumvent and exploit it.
You should be allowed to quit out of matches in which a team mate or teammates have already quit. It’s annoying knowing that you have to sit through a 2v4 match and get your … kicked because you don’t want to get banned

> Will being disconnected by lagging out of a game cause a ban, or count against me, aside from losing whatever XP or RP boost I had used?
It has happened to me, luckily it only lasted a couple of mins but I did get a ban message for a short time.
so i disconnected once yesterday and as a result it quit, came back in and played a game but then was banned for 8 minutes the next. okay, fair enough. i quit a match once today and im banned for 45 minutes. ive quit maybe 5 times or more in a day every day around the time the game first came out and nothing. one disconnect and quit once manually and im banned for 45? did they just really make this super hardcore strict all of a sudden?
note, im not complaining im banned for quitting cuz i did, but it seems so strict. i only quit 2x in a week technically so jsut curious why the ban is so long all of a sudden and seemed so strict. idk if they upped the banhammer so just curious.
