> The following FAQ should answer some of your questions about Halo 5 bans. We will update this FAQ as necessary.
>
> I received an in-game message saying I have been banned. Why?
> If you are checking this page because of an in-game message, it is likely that you have been banned for violating the terms of use and/or committing a code of conduct violation. It is also possible, in the case of an especially egregious violation, that your Xbox One system itself is now banned from Matchmaking. The duration of this ban is based on the type, frequency or nature of the committed violation. In most cases, Custom Games will still be available. In extreme cases, they will not.
>
> How can I tell how long I was banned for?
> Ban duration will be shown on the red ban screen as the ban hammer strikes. First offences are generally low and last only a few minutes, but will increase in duration incrementally with each subsequent ban. The ban timer itself displays times as follows - Days : Hours : Minutes : Seconds
>
> What types of actions can result in a ban?
> Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
>
> - Modifying your Xbox One hardware or game software and services in any way.
> - Idling through games, habitual quitting/suiciding/betraying, or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
> - Impersonating a 343 Industries or Microsoft employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players.
> I shouldn’t be banned. My brother/sister/cousin/dad/mom/friend must’ve logged on with my account and done bad things. Will you please reverse my ban?
> If this is indeed the case, we do understand your frustration. However, it is your sole responsibility to keep your account information secure and not share it with others who would abuse it. We have no way of detecting who is playing with your account, and if your gamertag is caught making naughty, you will be banned. Those are the rules.
>
> I didn’t do anything wrong, and you can’t prove it. Will you please reverse my ban?
> Our automated system builds up a digital case of wrongdoing before any ban is enacted. If you accidentally disconnect a time or two, you won’t get banned. Instead the system looks for patterns that can’t happen accidentally. If the banhammer detects enough wrongdoing, you were doing wrong.

I think I’ve had similar issues.
Have you done the port forwarding and is the NAT open, or alternatively, is the xbox in a DMZ or otherwise bypassing the NAT?
Another issue I had was that the port in the router I used the cable was different than the others in that it was made to bypass NAT entirely, allowing a direct connection to the internet for the device plugged in. Meant for IP TV and so forth.
My problem is that I can’t use a wire connection because the xbox thinks it’s not connected to XBL, when it is.

The rules state in the Playlist lobbies that excessive quitting and disconnects will be punished.
You’re sitting at 39 DNF matches in total over your 64 started matches. That’s above a 50% DNF ratio. You left, quit or disconnected, more matches than you finished. At the time of this writing.
You let us know how it goes with the support, won’t you?

I won’t tell you what i did with the support, but i let you know that i’ll never buy a Halo next time.
That baning system will make you lose many customers, especially me, because i played all the halos since the first xbox, and now i’m coming back to Call of duty BO3 they are more serious and the game is fantastic !

Ok, fair enough, I’m just curious what the Xbox Support says about a refund regarding a game you’ve been banned from. That is, if they ever got the honest version.
I’ll be honest with you. I won’t be awake at night because i343 supposedly lose customers who negatively affect my online experience by excessive disconnects, rage quitting or entitlement quitting due to not getting the map and / or game type they want.
I want players to play with who start what they finish, and intend to play the match to the end.
Have fun playing BO3, if it makes you happy not finishing, then so it does.

ahhahha nice try, but you won’t know anyway
I don’t usually leave because of a map or because of the team i am playing against but if i decide to play an hour, i play 1 hour then i leave even though i am in multiplayer game, or maybe i receive calls or i have to open the door to my friend who comes to visit me… there are many justifications.
If someone buys a product, it’s because he wants to use it every time he wants without limitations. here in Italy the law protects customers: every limitation or defects of a product should be repaired or substituted. of course that if i buy a game and i cannot play to it because of the producer that bans people, microsoft should assume its responsibility… your marketing strategy won’t work especially for a game like halo which is less beautiful than many other games !
of course i am enjoying from 6 months black ops 3 and it’s really amazing

Too bad when you purchased Halo 5, you were only purchasing the rights to use the product. And those rights came with a series of conditions that 343i set up which everyone had to click “I agree” on to play. So the fact that you were ever able to play Halo 5 means, even if you didn’t read those conditions, you agreed to them. And in those conditions is a clause that states that 343i can halt services to anyone for (essentially) any reason. So in this case, you aren’t protected by law. Especially since every playlist tells you that breaking the rules may result in a ban (which in your case, it did).
Also, Naqser was being coy; we already know you won’t get a refund from Xbox support. You’re not actually keeping any info from the world by not saying what happened when you contacted Xbox Support.

It’s actually not that difficult to imagine how it went.
I don’t care why you leave a game, or for any of the excuses you choose to use. You’re still affecting a large part of the gaming population negatively by quitting excessively.
As Chimera pointed out, you signed a contract, Terms of Use. With it you basically give up any legal right and also agree that the developer, or whoever, can ban you for pretty much no reason at all, at any time they want to.
As he also pointed out, you bought a right to use the product, not the product itself, and as the Terms of Use say, that you agree to, they can restrict or revoke your right as they see fit. You agreed to this, and just so you know in the future, pretty much every game you buy has the same Terms of Use. Italian law won’t protect you in that case as it is a contract. You just breached the rules, got punished for it which they can do as you agreed they can if you’re to use the product.
And that’s it. Now have a nice day and go do something productive.
Can we please put quitters/lag out individuals in their own playlist groups. It truly is aggravating down teammates in an arena game, especially when it’s ranked.
Please pass this on to the “important” people. I think it keeps the quiters/lag outs happy (until every game they play someone quits) and the rest of us from having to deal with them.
- I got kicked from a Griffball game for betraying teammates 4 times, when all the previous games didn’t have kicks for friendly fire in Griffball, and this was of course not mentioned at all.
- I played Griffball again, finished the game without betraying any teammates, then got disconnected as the game ended because that’s how Microsoft software works.
- Then I got banned for 2 minutes, but I wasn’t banned from playing warzone, apparently.
- Then, I go back to playing Griffball, play one match all the way through without a problem, then play another match and I fall through the floor, into a dark hole, and remain there for the rest of the match. I replayed the clip again and it seems like I fell into the ceiling through?! I have no idea what is going on with that. All I know is that the people in charge of all of this should never ever be allowed near computers again. This is an absolute farce. Know that unless the people playing this are die hard fans, they will absolutely stop playing this game, this is a giant farce, there’s nothing more to it.

-Yoink- off arrogant !
i am not here to debate you about laws and to make you understand the differences between laws and norms, but i want to underline that law is not customizable…
Microsoft is using a different approach marketing with its customers, they are using the so called “relationship marketing”… i bought black ops 3 titanfall, fifa 16 ghost, need for speed, battlefront… from the microsoft store and no one of those compagnies are using that ban -Yoink-… and i’ve never had to ask for a refund because they all worked pretty nice, there is more much freedom,
The xbox support told me that they make refunds only in some cases, i can notice that they don’t care about you banning -Yoink-.
I want to underline that halo 5 doesn’t deserve those norms, i mean the banning -Yoink-, because it’s not a very nice game, better to say it’s not the best.
I will not reply again to your arrogant comments… and enjoy halo 5, remember that in the next halo you’ll see that less people will buy it !
343i,
THE BANHAMMER NEEDS TO BE REMOVED ENTIRELY. Why force a player to play a match that they either can’t finish because of life’s disruptions, or simply don’t want to because they’re getting annihilated by the opposing team? People will ALWAYS quit, no matter what you do to them. THEY WILL ALWAYS QUIT. Stop wasting time and resources banning them, and just let them quit. You can’t force a player to do something that they really don’t want to do, it’s actually wrong of you to do that if you really think about it. These are PAYING CUSTOMERS. They paid for your product, and you’re banning them from doing the thing they PAID YOU to do. You’re essentially robbing them. Let them quit, absolutely no one should be banned from playing a game THEY -Yoinking!- PAID FOR. In order to discourage players from quiting, why not simply demote them? Give 'em a huge drop on their rank, that’s why people quit anyway - they don’t want their rank to drop. Banning them only pushes your fanbase away (quite literally). A player will only go through so many in-game -Yoink- whoopings before they decide, “-Yoink- this, I’m done.”. And after a few rage quits resulting in increasingly lengthy bans, they’ll start to think, “Man, -Yoink- this, I get my -Yoink- kicked every time I come on here, that’s no fun at all! And I can’t quit because then I get banned for several hours, and that’s even less fun! It seems to me that every time I play this game, all I get is stressed out and frustrated, and that’s definitely not why I pay $60 for videogames. This sucks, I can’t even play what I paid for. I think this was a waste of money”. And so players will start to leave, and they might even stay gone when you push your next installment out - remembering how unenjoyable your previous product was. IT IS NO EXAGGERATION WHEN I SAY THAT THE BANHAMMER INFURIATES PLAYERS TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT THEY WILL LEAVE THE FRANCHISE, AND STAY GONE. So PLEASE, remove the banhammer altogether, and instead demote quiters for quiting. Cause they’re always gonna quit, and you know what? They have a right to do so, they paid for the damn game. No one should be banned, it absolutely BLOWS.
Thanks for your time 343i, and despite the tone of this message, I actually love what you’re doing with the Halo franchise (except the banhammer), and you can expect for me to continue supporting you guys for a looong time (yes, even if you don’t remove the banhammer). I’m angry because I care <3
A true fan, JAAS12

You’re the one who brought up Italian law, norms were never part of the discussion. No, law is not customizable, you interpret it, that and laws can be bypassed by law abiding contracts, like the ToU you signed, which essentially is another “law”.
I do not care what those games do and how they handle their quitters and disconnectors.
Of course support does not refund a game you’ve been banned from, your rights were revoked momentarily for breaching the rules as stated in the contract you signed that allow them to revoke your rights. Also, if I’m not mistaken, when you buy a digital version of the game, even DLC, it tells you that there are no refunds.
I don’t need you to respond either way, I know you’ve read my response anyway. Human curiosity is very predictable, I know from my own experience.
Oh, I personally have no problems if Halo sell less if it means there are less players who can’t be bothered to finish what they’ve started, have poor time management or such busy lives they only have time to start matches and not really finish them.

OK ! you are talking about signing a contract all time. and if there were a contract that i should sign to buy a game, i would have never bought it… conditions must be made before purchasing not after.
it’s not about “human curiosity” but it’s a marketing approach, and till now i gave you many interesting informations, that you can use in order to improve the game and to get more players… you are not talking with a simple consumer, you are talking with a great seller…
Have a nice game !

I thought you wouldn’t respond?
Agreeing with the Terms of Use is signing a contract. You do know what a Terms of Use is? A series of terms you must agree to in order to be allowed to use the software.
The curiosity wasn’t about marketing, but about me knowing you’d read my response.
And now as a a great seller you know about software ToS / ToU, Privacy Policies and so forth, and how they work with software licenses. I recommend reading them lest you want to give away your first born. Yes, such a ToU has existed as an experiment.
If you think I work at i343, I do not. Because it seems you think I do.
