> So how long does a ban stay on your record? Forever? I just went through my game history, and I only bothered to count up to my last 115 matches because it give a plenty clear picture. I just received an hour ban for quitting my 2nd game in 115 matches. I got banned a couple weeks ago for 20 minutes and didn’t want to push it, so I haven’t quit since until today when I was placed on 3 of the worst teams I’ve ever been a part of on social slayer and I just couldn’t take it. I figured my record would be cleaned after not quitting for over 100 matches, but NOPE! 1 hour ban. Give me a break. So you’re telling me I can never quit a game again for the rest of the life of this game otherwise I’m going to be banned for it?
>
> EDIT: Decided to look up to 5 quits. 5 quits in 161 games. That’s what’s considered “habitual” quitting?
If you get banned, the reason is simple: you have multiple DNFs on your service record. That doesn’t mean that it’s fair though. There is clearly something wrong with this autoban system. The main issue seems to be that it won’t forget about a DNF until you get banned for it. no matter how long ago the DNF was, it will use it against you when it deciding to ban you. A simple solution would just to make the banhammer forget about a DNF after a few hours, short enough not to punish people for just playing the game, but long enough so that the people who should be getting punished can exploit it. I’m no coder, I don’t know how hard a change like this would be. However, this is a definite issue that needs to be addressed.

Ya it had to be more like a law. A statue of limitation as you will. They still hold records of prior offenses but if you are not a constant quitter than you are not going to be punished as severely as a constant QQ.
It should like this:
only remember about a weeks worth of quitting, after that it is forgotten/forgiven.
the more offenses, the longer the penalties (keeps tally marks)
if you go a whole month without QQ penalty than you get 1 tally mark removed.
Simple easy and not banning everyone for quits that are weeks apart and giving longer sentences each time. i mean to actually get banned and my last quit, which was a disconnect, was a week ago and apparently that was enough to give me a like 5 min ban was ridiculous and it says it gets worse. so what? next one if i quit a game a month from now it will give me an hour or 2 ban? there has to be a point in which the game stops counting. Its like Autodesk Maya when i try to rig. Maya: “hey remember that joint constraint? Well i remembered and now you deleted it by accident, so now i’m going to destroy your mesh and now crash. Have a nice day” Me: “damn you maya you piece of -Yoink-!” crashes and 30 min of work gone Induced Rage Activated.
I keep getting banned for no reason because at the end of every arena game I play I without fail get disconnected and now I’m getting banned for it, why does this keep happening at the end of every arena it doesn’t happen in warzone. I get my XP and what ever rewards I got but I just keep getting banned. The only time I would ever leave a game is if I was playing warzone and it was that map with the monument in the middle, please remove it’s a horrible map.
I keep getting banned after I finish games. After the game has ended I get a message that says lost connection can not retrieve data. This happens a couple of times then I get banned. My current ban is at 8 hours. My gamer tag is - oO THE MEZ Oo please can you help me
After the game ended It started cycling to lost connection can not retrieve data, as it does that a lot when it wants. Then it tells I’m banned for the next six hours for idling. Your can check my last game,

What gives? Twice in two days.
Or is this just another dead so called support thread?
What, exactly, is the point of posting here if NO ONE from 343 bothers to read and/or respond to the complaints and inquiries? It’s not like this thread is gaining 10 pages a day and the questions can’t be caught up with. My question from days ago still hasn’t been answered and there have only been a handful of posts since then.
Got the connection lost message after finishing a game twice in a row, now I have a day long ban, this issue needs to be fixxed, please remove this ban

The lag is what got me kicked and it just retard that I can get banned for one single lag out I believe that should give us several dnfs before we are banned
I just got banned for 3 full days! and then i get unbanned, and then I do nothing wrong for 2 days, no quitting, betrayals, afk, and then all of a sudden out of no where I get kicked from a game and now im banned for another 3 days?! I am so pissed off.

> I am probably going to be banned for a week now, because I fell off the map twice during a game. I didn’t do it on purpose. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any halo game in my life.
i do feel for you n all because i think its over kill. but i count several DNFs in your history which is why the ban is getting triggered like a feminist on tumblr.
I’ve played 77 games since purchasing halo 5 on March 27. I have quit out of 3 games, never back to back and never more than one time in a single day, yet I have been banned for 2:45:45! This is outrageous! I’ve only quit social slayer matches, nothing ranked. Also, the rules state that banning is cause by “habitual quitting” and I certainly would not consider 3 out of 77 habitual by any means.

If you have only just recently got this connection lost after the end of a game then I would say yes the ban is unjustified.
However, your history tells a different story:-
23/3/16 - 1 DNF out of 5 games Arena / 1 DNF out of 4 games Warzone
24/3/16 - 3 DNF out of 11 games Arena / 2 DNF out of 3 games Warzone
27/3/16 - 3 DNF out of 7 games Arena / 3 DNF out of 13 games Warzone
28/3/16 - 1 DNF out of 3 games Arena / 3 DNF out of 9 games Warzone
29/3/16 - 1 DNF out of 2 games Arena / 1 DNF out of 3 games Warzone
30/3/16 - 1 DNF out of 2 games Warzone
The stats on waypoint does not show if you AFK’d or betrayed, these can also contribute to the banhammer although you can’t see them.
To get a day long ban you must have had previous bans already, albeit they would be minutes then hours long, most likely going further into you history would make a clearer picture.
As we do not know what the paramaters of the banhammer is we can only guess that it takes all of the above into consideration.
My advice is that if you are getting the DC message then try turning of your router so that it makes a fresh connection, and if you are playing wireless then go wired if at all possible(that is if location of the x1 will allow it)

In regards to your original question(and what some Monitors have said) I think it does stay on forever, if that is tha case then I think 343i should do a periodic reset, then everyone can start with a clean slate.
The one thing that I think we would all like to know is does the banhammer just count the number of games that you play or does it go by number of games played by date, then we would all be able to figure out the nature of this beast! lol.
