Check the first post of this thread for a breakdown on the format of the ban timer.
Idle boots happen after 3 min of inactivity. At that point, youâll get removed from the game, so itâll register as a DNF just like a quit.
I got banned for no reason I was supposedly greifing but it was my first couple games back on a new match and it said I got banned for greifing because I fell of the map three times and now it says Iâm banned from playing halo 5 guarding a and I donât know for how long it wonât say anything it just saying Iâm banned like as if to say permanently

You will have to post on the actual gamertag that got banned in order for anyone to help you at all.

Except I didnât do that. I literally played with a group we won several games together and then our whole fire team got banned. We did nothing wrong, not cheating, not deranking, no betrayals, no trash talking the other teams etc. we just got banned for two weeks for no reason. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Checking the Enforcement logs shows there is a member of your fire team that very obviously deranked.

Okay, so Iâm being punished for something someone else did, that I had no knowledge of? Thatâs unfortunate. If itâs so obvious that one member of the fire team deranked why ban all of us and not just that person? Guilty by association I guess?

You only get banned after multiple offences and the time starts out small - only a few minutes, then it increases with subsequent bans. Youâre only going to get banned if youâre quitting or idling on a frequent basis. Additionally, the idle timer in-game I believe is 3 minutes before you get kicked out.
Jumping off to take care of something every now and again is fine, but if itâs happening too frequently then yes you will get banned. Youâre disrupting the game for everyone else playing. If you need to leave, make sure and back out to the lobby or donât start a game if you know you might need to leave and do something half way through

They donât currently have a way to tell server kick vs your connection dropping so itâs all treated the same. It needs to happen often enough for you to get banned, and the first ban starts very short and increases with more disconnects / quits. If it happens often, itâs best to troubleshoot to find whatâs causing the issue (connection quality, open NAT, firewall settings, etc).
You canât reverse bans â unless you dropped out tons of times your ban shouldnât be very long.

If you are getting banned for disconnects, then you are disconnecting much more often than the average player, which means your connection is ruining the game for players that arenât having the same issues nearly as often, which means bans will be likely until the amount of disconnects goes down to a normal level.

I literally just had back to back network disconnections and am being told Iâm banned. No time frame or anything. It was network disconnecting, and I had top gun in one match with no motive or intent to disconnect, just was removed from the server. How is this a âyou are obviously in the wrong?â

If youâre idling enough, you can be banned even if the boot timer doesnât kick in.
Trying to avoid the boot timer is worse, itâs going to assume that youâre abusing the system.
