The official Halo 5 "Why was I banned?" thread

> Hello, I got ban from halo and I have nothing to hide. I legit did nothing wrong and got ban you can check every single game I have ever played and watch every single match and you will not find anything. I barely play this game and in fact do not really enjoy this game that much but I would still like to play halo 5 when I want to as I’m not sure why I get online and have a very long 192 day ban sentence??? Could I please be unban because I legit did nothing wrong.
>
> I also have 3 other brothers and one of my brothers did get ban so maybe that’s why I got ban as we all use the same ip. If that is the case you guys really need to fix your system. Im only worried about myself right now though, they can fix there own issues. I would still like to be unban for not doing anything though. Thanks for reading my message have a great day ( We game share off two Xbox live memberships aswell, if that is a issue I could just go buy a seperate Xbox live but we are not the richest family so yeah). More in that we have 4 Xbox’s so instead of 4 memberships 2 of us are with one membership and 2 again are on another which allows for us to all play aslong as our membership does not run out.

If you share Xboxes with your brother, and your brother gets the ban, you will all get the ban for this type of ban. This has been explained many times. You are responsible for what Xboxes you play on and who you let use your own Xbox, just like any other law.

I am using my own Xbox??? I don’t share Xbox’s I share Xbox live. Would that still explain why I got ban??? That’s seem a little unfair if I was ban because my brother got ban and we use the same Xbox live. Also restrain from using law in your argument as Australians have different laws to America.

One last thing if I am ban for someone else’s act despite us ‘sharing’ Xbox live not Xbox one does that not contradict the point of game share because what you have stated if that for me not to get ban I need my own Xbox live and therefore another copy of halo 5. If so that’s a super poor way of banning people as people are in fact being falsely banned. As I have been

Can you explain why you feel you are banned? We aren’t showing you as banned on our systems so I’m not entirely sure you’re going on about.

Happy to dig into it but need more information. What are your brothers’ GTs?

Thanks.

My brothers gt are ( I’m Xbox shared with Eromancy) my two other brothers are ( Thorny acorn Xbox shared with DARKSTEEL911) (Darksteel911 is also used by our cousin as our older brother does not play very often at all).

So so basically I’m gameshared with Eromancy he has Xboxlive so I home Xbox him so we can share off the Xbox live and Darksteel911 and ThornyAcorn are Xbox lived membership shared. I don’t believe they have been ban but I do know Eromancy was ban because he had a massive fit at home about it.

So everyone’s gt: (me) silverbl4de40, DARKSTEEL911, ThornyAcorn, Eromancy - We all have each other’s accounts on our Xbox’s but never use them we just did it so we could home Xbox each other to allow us not to pay for multiple Xbox live memberships and 4 halo 5 discs. Also another thing I’m super interested in how the ban system works and what you base the ban off is it a ip ban or Xbox live ban?? If so that’s why I am getting affected from this, the onyx difference is I got a different Xbox serial number. I can send screenshots of the ban notice but idk how to link it to the forum to see.

I feel like your in a predicament here, for bans can’t be reversed, and they don’t like people to share accounts. Good luck with your ban sir, miracles do happen!

> The following FAQ should answer some of your questions about Halo 5 bans. We will update this FAQ as necessary.
>
> **I received an in-game message saying I have been banned. Why?**If you are checking this page because of an in-game message, it is likely that you have been banned for violating the terms of use and/or committing a code of conduct violation. It is also possible, in the case of an especially egregious violation, that your Xbox One system itself is now banned from Matchmaking. The duration of this ban is based on the type, frequency or nature of the committed violation. In most cases, Custom Games will still be available. In extreme cases, they will not.
>
> **How can I tell how long I was banned for?**Ban duration will be shown on the red ban screen as the ban hammer strikes. First offences are generally low and last only a few minutes, but will increase in duration incrementally with each subsequent ban. The ban timer itself displays times as follows -
> **Days : Hours : Minutes : Seconds****What types of actions can result in a ban?**Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
> - Modifying your Xbox One hardware or game software and services in any way. - Idling through games, habitual quitting/suiciding/betraying, or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior. - Impersonating a 343 Industries or Microsoft employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players. Why was I banned for winning a match / quitting one match / quitting a custom game? __You weren’t. The ban system runs at least 1 game behind so your ban will have been placed for a previous offence. After completing your next event, whether it is a matchmaking game, custom game, forge session, spectating a friend or viewing theatre, the system will then show you a message telling you that you have been banned. As it takes more than a single offence to earn a ban you will never be banned for leaving one match, it will be multiple offences that have led to a ban being placed on your account.
>
> **I shouldn’t be banned. My brother/sister/cousin/dad/mom/friend must’ve logged on with my account and done bad things. Will you please reverse my ban?**If this is indeed the case, we do understand your frustration. However, it is your sole responsibility to keep your account information secure and not share it with others who would abuse it. We have no way of detecting who is playing with your account, and if your gamertag is caught making naughty, you will be banned. Those are the rules.
>
> **I didn’t do anything wrong, and you can’t prove it. Will you please reverse my ban?**Our automated system builds up a digital case of wrongdoing before any ban is enacted. If you accidentally disconnect a time or two, you won’t get banned. Instead the system looks for patterns that can’t happen accidentally. If the banhammer detects enough wrongdoing, you were doing wrong.
>
> **Will posting in this thread guarantee my ban will be lifted and that someone will respond personally to every post?**Unfortunately, no. We simply don’t have enough eyes, ears and typing hands to respond to every single post. However, the community will help keep you honest. You have a public game history for everyone to see. If you post you were banned unjustly, the community is in their rights to check out your history to confirm or deny your claims. Please, just keep it clean.
>
> The purpose of this thread is to keep all questions pertaining to bans in one place. Without a megathread for such questions, the rest of the forum will almost certainly turn into a cavalcade of ban questions.
>
> If you were banned and think you have a case, this is the ONLY thread you should post in. If other moderators see posts pertaining to bans in other threads, they will either be deleted outright or a kind-hearted mod might just move the posts to this thread.
>
> If any users are caught habitually spamming ban threads in other threads, we will consider that a violation of the forum Terms of Use. You will risk being banned here as well. We don’t want to have to ban anyone, but we do want an open, honest and positive place to post about all things Halo, so a thread like this is necessary.

Screw the bans. “The banhammer strikes” because I decide I’m not going to waste my time with -Yoink- players who spawn kill with the over power brute hammer that literally kills you from 20 meters away. If I can’t play then what’s the point in staying in the game. They’ll stand right next to where you spawn in and before you can even move. Boom! Dead. Then that goes on my career record? Screw that. Learn how to give everyone a fighting chance at playing the game and enjoying it instead of allowing people to be -Yoinks!-. I might as well play COD if I wanted to never enjoy playing online. Even they’ve sort of fixed that problem.

Hello. I am wondering why I got the Attention: Error authorizing user with Halo 5 Guardians services. You will be unable to access online modes.
I did all the steps like uninstalling and reinstalling, remove my account and get it back, hard restart my console.
I figured it was a ban because my xbox account didn’t have gold and I used it while not gold, but now, I have gold and was wondering when I can get unbanned.

If you have a Halo 5 ban, you won’t see an error message; you’ll see a ban message. There will be no ambiguity. That attention message you see is due to a sync error. You’ll have to continue troubleshooting.

“You have been placed on a cool down from Arena matchmaking for intentionally choosing to ruin the fun of the game for other players”

so i have been banned for 2 weeks and im assuming this is why

So the other day a friend came round mine and my brothers house who has never played halo before so instead of him deranking my account or my brothers and destroying my MMR I made him a account (Shearmanator20) he played really bad ended up getting bronze in slayer the next day I wanted to show him how to play so I searched team arena (so I wouldn’t match noobs cause he was bronze in slayer) after a few games I realised I was matching noobs so I backed out and never played on tht account again once he left cause I felt bad for other team .

now I come to find out me (Mockit WarLord) and my brother (Mockit Outkast) have been banned for 2 weeks. im assuming your thinking I made an account got it to bronze and was gna just slay noobs but I would never do that look at my KD in team Arena on MockIT WarLord its above 2.0 at champ level I don’t need to make a new account to do that and if that was my intention why would I only play a few games on that account and like 70 on mockit warlord since that accounts been made it doesn’t add up I never played on tht account ever again since my friend left my house.

im pleading that you show some mercy here I mean fair enough I shouldn’t have played those 4-5 games but I was just chilling with my friend and stopped imedidatly once I realised I was matching noobs consistently. all I ask is that you reconsider.

also if I am way off and this is not the reason I’m banned lemme know.

If they never played before why have them played ranked? Back in my day when we would have some one who wasn’t good or haven’t played we wouldn’t play ranked. I never quite believe these “it was my friend” stories.

because if they search ranked they match people around their level

I’m not in enforcement, but I can practically guarantee that’s why you’re banned. 0 kills in 10 games and then 126 kills in 5. Honestly from what I’ve seen, 2 weeks is kinda merciful, most bans I’ve seen are 198 days. The ban is almost certainly automatic, as Dr. Menke said, the system is now consistently banning for anomalous behavior. This certainly fits that. I do have to ask though, you were as high as champion 1 and have tons of days played and it never occurred to you that playing on a bronze 1 account would lead to matching all low ranked players? As a side note, if it really was somebody else playing, having him play terribly on your account would have also led to the same ban, the system would see it as intentionally deranking. Actually it could have been possibly worse on your main, I could be wrong but I think if you’re a champion you automatically get a ban for this season and next season if you or somebody else on your team is deranking or boosting.

yeah I assumed I would match bronzes if I searched slayer so I searched team arena instead but still matched bronzes

That’s because the hidden MMR is borrowed over to other playlists the first few games.

Hello my name is Arnold I was banned for lagging too much and ended my game because I didn’t want to drag the teammates :upside_down_face: on the serious note they should be lenient if it’s due to network issues. There’s alot worse out there like unsportsmanlike behavior and trash talking than a person just having a bad time with their internet provider.

Bans for leaving games are usually pretty short if it isn’t habitual long-term. So, I would say that is pretty lenient.

So half the players drop out most games of Husky Raid, leaving team members to be camped because the opposing team sits on the flag.
So we have two choices:
to simply spawn and die over and over again because the other team wont cap the flag until time runs out
-or-
leave game, only to receive bans because of how prevalent this occurs
Pretty sure those making decisions as to the criteria of gameplay can go fook off

Why my ban is directly passed from 10 minutes(4 days before) to 66 days! for idling in warzone? screen
Why 66 and not 67 or 65; how this works? Why did you choose exactly 66.
I wanted to know if I am the first one or not.
What can I do to keep other players who “do idling” away from my own mess.
