Unfortunately, Enforcement won’t accept “I didn’t know” as a reason and they almost never overturn a ban, and this forum isn’t for overturning bans, but for asking why.
Just like previous examples we’ve given in this thread, if you are with someone while they are committing a crime but you just “didn’t know” that won’t work as a defense.

i understand. “didn’t know” don’t work for your rules, and it’s ok. but is a real defense in the real life. I cannot ask each person with whom I play if he breaks the rules, he could tell me the fake. i’ll wait that the ban will be finished, but there is no justice for good people with these rules.

Ive played with one person. A random person who invited me to a game. 2 weeks for a first accidental offense is ridiculous.

Ridiculous by what measure? Ever since Enforcement added that aspect, overall deranking plummeted. So it’s not ridiculous to them because the very rare few ( I know of maybe 2?) that get caught accidently are worth the massive amount of players who otherwise would quit playing because of it.
It also encourages more awareness of who you are deciding to play with, which forces derankers to stop deranking because no one will play with them.

I like that the system is enforcing this stuff, but I think a two week ban is a bit harsh especially if a person joined a stranger’s party hoping to make new friends. I saw that you used a crime example as a counter to the I didn’t know defense, but there are cases where the unknowing person will receive a lesser sentence or even be acquitted of wrongdoing.
I think a lesser ban for first time offenders would be better since it won’t completely turn them off to playing with random people to try and make new friends, but it will also make them more cautious about it and it will still punish the actual bad apples that are trying to manipulate the system.

Ridiculous because it’s a first time offense and I’m banned for 2 weeks. I paid for the game and now I can’t play it cos I joined a random player who just so happened to be deranking.

2 weeks is the lesser ban here. The negative impact on pop of deranking is huge and measurable.
In addition, it doesn’t seem reasonable to expect Enforcement to somehow figure out who “didn’t know” and who did. They’re definitely not going to just unban anyone who claims they don’t know, and that’s not an easy thing to verify.

I just never join a Fireteam, or allow anyone else to join mine. It’s the only way you can be sure, so just be super paranoid. I like to pretend there’s a massive cooties outbreak, and 100 out of every 100 people are infected with it. I got one friend that plays maybe once every 2-3 months for 4 or 5 games, and he’s all I ever play with. This way I’m forced to play by myself, except an hour every season basically, BUT I don’t have the cooties. Good luck with the ban.

Hmm, not worth it. Most definitely not worth it. Even one innocent that gets falsely tagged with a ban is one too many. It’s not only a grave injustice but it’s probably bad PR for 343 and Microsoft. So even if it’s about not losing players and money due to the cheating/deranking problem the PR nightmare is going to hurt 343 just as bad if not worse. Smh, this is ridiculous. Couldn’t you guys take the extra time to collect more evidence against the people you suspect of partying with derankers? Like if it happened once maybe they actually didn’t know but if there is a pattern of that behavior then yeah they probably are up to no good.
Yeah I can’t imagine how angry I’d be if I’d paid full price for the game. 2 weeks for something a random person in my game had done. I bet if I checked that player isn’t even banned themselves.

Message him, and see my good sir! Goodluck with your ban my fellow … I only know of my experience, wherein a guy gets on here, and for the sake of anonymity, let’s call him ShnataShnack. He then makes a post about me idling, and states “So i’ve ran into this guy for two weeks now in the Mythic playlist…” Therefore I get banned due to that, even though we had only played with this dude twice in 16 days, I went back hundreds of games to check, and due to that one person, I was checked on for “Pages” of low kill producing firefights. So some person you guys have beaten, might have hopped on here to do the same. Though in which case, surely everyone in the party got banned.

Oh definitely man, they can investigate single persons you’d think. They surely did me, I get reported on here, and got banned, from somebody who just kept running into me in Firefight, twice in 16 days mind you, from placing 6th, 7th, and 8th in firefight. Super idling as it were. I took my solitary confinement like a champ though, and came out a reformed man.
Been banned again.
No idea what for this time but for almost 200 days?
Literally all I enjoy in life is playing Halo and now I’m being stopped from playing again?
I mean that’s great and all but when halo is all someone has, kinda ruins their life man.

Last time you were banned like this (back in February), it was for playing over a dozen games with a deranker, effectively manipulating matchmaking.
You’ve likely been banned for repeating that behavior. You were told that continuing to do that would lead to longer bans.

I’ve literally played with the same people I always play with. How am I supposed to know if they are a de-ranker in their spare time? This is ridiculous getting banned twice because of other people doing crappy things? I’m not like that and would never intentionally ruin someone’s game play because it happens all the time with me, champs getting unranked people to quit the game so we lose more rank.
I’ve been banned as well while playing with I FoundYoou, I’ve never been banned before, that I remember of at least. I don’t know why is it my responsibility to run a background check on whoever is playing with me. Also what makes you think someone deranked on purpose? I know plenty of people that just use their kids account or a guest use account. I’m not sure where the problem was either as I recall the games were not completely unbalanced, ranks wise was similar and quite hard matches so where was the gain really? You should re-think your ranking system as I have hundreds of matches where I don’t rank up because someone quits and immediately rank down 30 points for a balanced loss or even going positive 10kda. Also the match selection, since it looks like if you get a party of champs you simply can’t get a match and therefore you look for a lower rank to get matches. If he deranked on purpose, this shouldn’t be our concern. I think 200 days is ridiculous even if you were right…I guess this is the end of us, shame. I guess no one ever got banned from any of my reports but I play 1 evening with a low rank and that’s it. At least I can still sell my elite controller for good money since I won’t be needing it anymore. How do we contact 343 exactly? I have some things I’d like to discuss. I played Halo 2 with bungie and got destroyed by hackers all the time and still had fun, you ban me with no proof of anything and think this is ok? FYI, I only play halo, any history in another game was when I shared house.

Neither of you noticed that the guy that placed silver 6 was outslaying Diamonds and champs? In my opinion, that is a huge red flag. Also the other guy stated that he played with the same people he always does, but the account in question is an Sr8 with zero campaign.

The silver 6 we didn’t know, and didn’t even realise they were a de-ranking account. Obviously it makes sense now, but It’s impossible to run a background check on everyone you play with. The silver 6 didn’t even speak in party. I don’t understand how we get penalized for someone else’s decisions? We were slaying diamonds and champs because we had an onyx/champ on our team or so I thought at least. Ever thought these people might be getting people banned just so they can stay at a higher rank themselves? I don’t understand but I’m genuinely heart broken over this.
Halo is my escape from my miserable life and I’m not even being dramatic when I say it’s literally the only thing that makes me happy. Without it, what’s the point?
