> You guys don’t get it. Short ban or not. We see it as getting the shaft while buttheads who quit for a living get away with it. I message people when they quit. Nothing happens to them. They laugh, they’re playing in the next game. Nothing is imediate for these guys. Fall off the map a coupleof times in a game, banhammer, go idle in a game, banhammer, but if you quit, you can laugh all the way to the next game. I HAVE PLAYED WITH PEOPLE WHO QUIT ALL THE TIME AND IT TAKES FOREVER FOR THEM TO GET BANHAMMERED. It’s just not right.

Well it seems to take about 10% of your total games in dnfs to get banned, or several in a row. This game has been out quite a while and people like myself have thousands of games played.
I was band for 8 hours can any one help me lol

I have never heard of a ban being reversed, but you can help yourself by not quitting out of games.

does the ban hammer ever reset? I’m currently on a three hour ban. Yes, you can give me flak for DNFing more than a few games. Sometimes I get disconnected, I lose my cool, or I needed to do something at the time and I’m at fault for that. I’m always worried if I’ll get disconnected and bam, I’m banned from matchmaking. So it’s like play at a risk or just don’t play. And if the ban time doesn’t reset after time that’s really disconcerting. Might just just be me, might not. Who knows!

There isn’t a ‘reset’ that I’m aware of. I have a hypothesis that it is based in part on percentages so a significant number of matches without incident would make you less likely to receive a ban.

Ah, thanks! Greatly appreciate. I never really understood the system that much. But thanks for clarifying!
Well, remember that 3 hour ban? Yeah it increased. Why? I got disconnected once again. My internet is perfectly fine but I still get dropped and banned for god knows how long now. I’m just livid that the system is like this. Halo 5 I want to enjoy playing, but this has to stop or at least reset the ban time so I can legitimately play without fear of being banned from matchmaking for three days. The system sucks, it’s probably just me but the system totally sucks. I want to play but I’m constantly pushed away with this ludicrous bans. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go play Halo 4 because the system is a load of bullhonkey.

It will still remember your previous violations but if you play 150 to 200 matchs in a row without incident it dose seem to lessen the penalty significantly for your next ban. So in other words, it’s not always an upwards climb.
From my experience, bans are usually given in this order.
1st - 8 to 15 minutes.
2nd - 30 minutes.
3rd - 1 hour.
4th - 3 hours.
5th and beyond - I don’t know, I haven’t been there.
Yes, the time dose reduce with a prolonged period of good behavior. Approximately 150 to 200 matchs without additional infractions. I even had it start over with 10 mins, though I am pretty sure it still keeps record of your previous bans/dnfs because it will ban you for 2 or 3 dnfs as opposed to 10 to 15 if you NEVER have had a ban before. Yes my very first ban EVER actually took that many but once I got my first ban I have been on the systems radar ever since. Just trying to give people more insight into how this system works.
Last I remember that there was no fault for quitting a match where one of your team mates quit ? I just got the ban hammer
! Has that changed recently?!

Looking at your recent games, I’m guessing you quit out of some social matches. I’m pretty sure the “soft forfeit” feature only applies to ranked matches.
The updates that detail the soft forfeit system suggest it’s for ranked playlists:

I looked through your game history and you either have a serious connection problem or you are quitting excessively. You have a massive amount of dnf’s. If you are running your xbox wirelessly then that could explain it.

SO THIS HAS HAPPENED TO NOT JUST ME?
What drives me nuts in the worst kind of way, is the algorithm will match terrible players with higher skilled players and they will cause the team a game. I’m talking the 3-21 kind of players. So if I’m in superfiesta and it’s 50-30 because of this one player, I’ll quit because you can’t have a sensible game like that, I’m not wasting my time to have my experienced ruined because the matching algorithm does a crap job balancing.
And then I get banned for it.
That player shouldn’t be playing with those players, it’s obvious.
But everyone has to be included.
So the bans will keep on coming and I’ll keep taking halo 5 out and play something else not 343i made while waiting.
eventually I’ll learn to just huck halo 5 back in the case and leave it there till halo 6.

I was banned for connection reasons, my connection for everything else on the home internet was fine so not my issue, I would the three boosts that were wasted refunded back, I also want to make a complaint about not being able to make a complaint, can’t call, can’t email. Just gotta post a message I’m the hope that someday, somebody may read it. Also I had an appalling time dealing with Microsoft just to be sent here. Is really and customer service. Will not pay for re packs again. Had the Xbox 3 weeks, zero trust in halo now, had 360 for years no issue loved the game. Halo 5 been playing for 3 weeks. Just bitter taste in mouth. No confidence that anything will be done. No trust in developers. No excitement about playing the game again. All over such a small little matter. Sort yourself out and don’t blame your customers. I’ll remember this when your next game comes out. Will also remember the way Microsoft treated me when it comes to the new console.
Oh and another crappy reason for DNF.
you leave a game that’s a complete blow out, I mean BLOWOUT 800-245 last I checked, just to go find a new game, and be put into that SAME Blowout of a game you just left!
I mean, it’s bad enough that your matching is terrible, but to force people to endure that kind of crap, no wonder halo is failing.

Just because your connection if fine for everything else does not mean it is fine for H5 as it is a bit pickier. It doesn’t like a wireless connection, your NAT needs to be open and your packet loss should be minimal.

After looking at your most recent 5 dnf games, you were among the most negative at the time of quitting. A player can never improve by playing people of a lesser or equal skill level, stay in those games and try to learn something that will improve your game play and stop ruining the game experience for others by quitting.

Hey, toyota… I appreciate you responding to people in this thread, but please refrain from posting multiple times in a row. You can edit your posts and respond to more than one person in a single post.

But the connection issue wasn’t my fault, it took ages to sync my profile then booted my for a slow connection. All I want is my boosts back that were wasted when I was booted from 3 games I had just started, also I was booted for being inactive when I was running. That’s not my issue. The issue was the games severs. I don’t understand why I can’t make a complaint and get my boosts back. Why is something so simple so complicated to sort out.
