You will be unable to access online modes… I it happen when we got the Xbox one x. It and moved over the account… I all other users it works for just not this onw
The same thing happened to me, it should fix after you restart your xbox a few times. If that doesn’t work restart you router or modem. It should fix.
I’ve been on a 24 hr ban because i lost connection to the server…
If you lose connection it shouldn’t give a ban.
i was banned because i was playing bad. i never played the map and ended up suiciding frequently because of that. pretty rediculous that in sumation for paying for a game, a console, and an internet service (xboxlive), buying dlc, microtransactions, and then being told by the game youre banned because you keep unintentionally dying. i demand a refund from microsoft or 343 or target, whatever phone number youre gonna give me for the classic customer service runaround. why should i pay for a game that doesnt let me play cause im not good enough? i payed didnt i??

Paying for it doesn’t mean you automatically have the right to do anything you want in the game, there are still terms associated with playing online. With Halo there are certain matchmaking rules that are in effect for online play to help make things as fair as possible for everyone, this includes preventative measures against other people ruining matches. Without these rules then somebody could easily continue to jump off the map for an entire game without consequence, I don’t think many people would enjoy that.
If there is a map you’re having trouble with, I recommend loading it up in Forge or in a custom game and run around it for a while. Get used to the jumps and practice areas where you have been falling. Might make it a little easier when you play it in matchmaking. If a refund is the route you want to take though, you would have to take that up with the retailer you purchased the game from - so either the retail store or Microsoft / Xbox Live support is you bought it from the MS store.
Were you swearing in the in-game chat? If so that might be why, or just being inappropriate. For almost every arena game it says it follows community guidelines, but I don’t what they are.

while im aware there is player etiquette while using these services, i dont really expect a refund, just trying to make a point. also, i was just playing bad, simply put, and it wasnt even a ranked match. i didnt use any foul language, no one reported me, i didnt verbally attack anyone or any other misconduct that would induce a ban on my account. while i agree with the idea of practicing and learning the maps, its not a requirement to play a social arena game. i just wanted to enjoy what i spent $600 on like everyone else without being penalized for playing bad. and since i realize what i say here isnt really going to change anything, i reserve my right to complain about this issue and appeal this to the community. i cant be the only one this has happened to.

No, not the only one. In the past year I remember seeing maybe 2 other complaints about this issue, both complainers also saying they were playing an unfamiliar map. While it may be frustrating for you, the banning for suicides is there to prevent griefing and deranking, which are much more prevalent than accidental suicides. Even social games need a set of rules; just because a playlist is social doesn’t mean it’s okay to try to ruin other people’s experience. Not to say that you were trying to do that, but the system detects patterns, so while one suicide isn’t enough to make a pattern, a bunch of suicides (even accidental ones) looks like a pattern to the system.

thanks for leveling with me, you clearly understand what i was origionally getting at. not everyone is forum savvy, and point being made, i undserstand there is an algorithm for this type of situation/ player outcome. is it too hopefull that there will be a deterrant to the unruly specific algorithm in the future, or will the fate of the player lay with the halo community?
also, ive been playing halo for a long time, like most of us have. is it really that rare someone has a bad round and just played crap all the way through? we’re all guilty of that at one point or another. the fact that it singles me out of something ive been paying to play for years and years, then, end up being treated like a wal mart customer cause i wasnt standing around watching the dev work. thats the standards im experiencing now with this game and its franchise future. bungie handled this franchise like a champ and since the disbandment it hasnt been the same. its an activision halo, but destiny is the newest halo? its all messed up, i wish whoever went back in time and f-d up our current timeline to stop bungie from discontinuing contracts with microsoft. or even better the timeline where microsoft realizes they cant make consoles or games witbout them. thats where im at, can i get a hollah back or what?
I have been banned when i have done nothing wrong.

You were banned for idling.

You can’t see who reported you, but you can see what has been reported about you here. This thread is about being banned.

I have been an avid halo fan and have owned and played every game since Halo (the original) on Xbox. I am however reconsidering that over this BS ban business. I am a parent of a one year old and still like to play Halo 5 from time to time(this time is limited and precious to me). So when I have to put my controller down to change a diaper I get banned for 10 minutes. 2 days later I had to put my controller down to pick up a giant cup of water my son spilled. Bam 30 Minute ban which is about all the time I had left to play. I literally just picked up my controller after not even 8 minutes to get back in the game and as soon as I hit a button I was kicked out and banned.
This is complete BS and a great way to alienate loyal fans and players. People in idle for a few minutes not even a complete game do little to no harm. People who constantly quit, mod/cheat, play against the rules and their teammates do way more damage and that’s who this “banhammer” should be targeting. Not people who want to play but also have to adult and be responsible while playing. I wasn’t even idle either time for an entire game. This seems like an extreme punishment. If you want to keep fans especially loyal ones like myself I highly recommend you rethink your position.
Why the hell did they ban mean for accidentally dying too many times that’s b******* I didn’t kill anybody else on my team I didn’t I just had people rush me one too many times when I was using like a rocket launcher or disintegrator I think one of them was the plasma caster what the hell 3 for 3

One of the things that can get you kicked from a game and banned is because intentional suicides in the game can be used as a form of deranking and griefing. So suiciding 3 times in rapid succession will look like a pattern to the system and it will boot you.
I got banned again today because after 10+ games that were all horribly matched… I mean the worst matches possible (which is weird because apparently they fixed the mm) I got tired of paying for a service and game that wasn’t even close to being enjoyable to play so I started quitting a few games so that in the time I had to play… maybe I could find a game that was closer to being balanced and that I could be a on a team that had a chance to win.(I don’t need to win, I just want a chance to) Nope… banhammer. So what, I’m just supposed to play bad games forever ? Sure, banhammer me. I can banhammer back with my wallet, and since 343i is Microsoft my Banhammer won’t just be isolated to 343i games. Oh, and my Live account expires in June, will I renew? What’s motivating me to?
Also interesting note to make. I wasn’t the first player to quit in the instances when I did. A large portion of the teams I was playing with quit prior to me, so I followed… yet I got banned. I wonder how many other players suffered the same consequence, especially because I was under the impression that the ban penalty only affected the first player that quit.
I started Halo 5 and there seemed to be some connections issues because 3 times in a row it kicked my from the search with the red “could not connect type message”. After doing this 2-3 times I couldn’t even enter into a search for a game, it would not allow me to even select a Playlist. OK… so I figured leave it for a few mins maybe the connection will clear up. So I go to the bathroom to take a poop… come back some minutes later and I am banned for 2 hours for “idling”… wtf really!?
So it looks like 343i has either gone back on their policies on they won’t ban you if your not the first person to leave the game… Or they are targeting certain players. Another night of really and I mean… SO badly matched games(Thought they updated the mm?). The whole team starts quitting, and I’m not in the mood to pay Xbox Live to just get farmed so after a bunch of players leave a super hopeless game I left too and boom. I get hit with a 20 minute ban. This isn’t what I pay for, so if that’s how Halo is then I’m not cool with it and I won’t be renewing my live. I only bought an Xbox One to play Halo.
WoodsMoney that’s happened to me too in a way. You’ll finish a game and then need to leave or take a break from the game and when it’s in intermission you attempt to leave the menus but the game literally won’t let you. It’ loads you into a game that you didn’t want to play to begin with as you tried to leave the matchmaking menu, you then quit the game that you never said was cool to load and then boom… ban. These aren’t new issues and it blows me away that players are still getting caught in it.
