The official Halo 5 "Why was I banned?" thread

No,there is no way to check this after you clicked away the message.

Some times my friends will be reported for “ hacking” when they are just using powerweapons or boosts.

Reports don’t effect Halo 5’s automated ban system. They can alter your xbox live reputation which you can find out more about here;

So i get banned for committing suicide during my battles in CTF and Super Fiesta when all i was doing was playing normally and the game kept glitching out on me saying i committed suicide when i know i did not i do not understand why you have put a ban for people who commit suicide especially when its not even on purpose

If your game glitches, check your connection.
The reason bans for commiting suicide is,there are people who find it funny to prevent other people from having fun by suiciding and stoping the team from gaining points.

Was just banned for idiot teammates running through my splinter grenades. Its bs.

That can happen, but if you havent recived an ban for betrayal before, the ban shouldnt last too long.Stay patient.

It takes a minimum of three betrayals for a boot and ban. Being a little more careful should prevent any accidental boots in the future.

I’ve bookmarked your last DNF. Theatre isn’t working at the moment, but I’ll try to look at your match when it does get fixed. If I do I’ll try to remember to edit in a video of your suicides or confirm that there was a glitch. Three or more suicides in quick succession will usually lead to a boot and a short ban. Repeated suicides have been used as a form of griefing since at least the H3 deranker days.

Hello,
Unfortunately, my wife was in hysterics on the phone in another room, so (as a good husband does) I went to check on her and my game went idle. My matchmaking screen now says I’m banned from Halo 5: Guardians. Is this a forever ban or what? Thanks.

Update: game on! I guess it was a short ban.

SO WAY WAS IT IMPOSSIBLE TO ME TO FINISH HALO 2 UNTILL I WATSHED A VIDEO IN WICH THE LEVEL WAS ABSOLUTE EASY. AND WAY DO I GAT MASSAGES MY FAMELY IS ALLOWED TO DO DECISIONS ABOUT MY XBOX AKKOUNT AND WAY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO PLAY with my account without signing in? WHAT DID I WRONG? AND WHY DID THEY TELL ME IN HALO3 YOU CAN NOT PLAY IT BECAUSE it is not remastered for me and in halo ce they QUESTIONED WHAT ARE YOU DOING THE SCHOOLBUS IS HERE.

Two games, that’s it, and I was losing within the first two minutes. Sorry if I’d rather not waste my damn reqs on a -Yoink- team and a -Yoink- game. Two games though?

Fixurownemail On your service record, you have 8 DNF’s on you first three pages. The system will ban you for quitting, idling, suicides and griefing it watches for patterns and hands out the punishment accordingly.

I lagged out a couple matches and it says I am banned, no banhammer strikes, is it permanent?

What do you mean “no banhammer strikes”? You mean you saw no popup saying you were banned? How do you know you were banned, then?

Bans aren’t generally permanent (unless you do something major like try to manipulate the matchmaking system), but temporary bans can get pretty lengthy if you’ve been banned several times before.

Is it possible to get a ban removed? Ive been randomly disconnecting right before matches on team slayer and am now banned for 3 days straight…
war zone works fine but for some reason i kept on getting dc’d right before matches on team slayer. I understand 20 or 30 minutes but 3 days?? would it be possible to get this removed? i don’t even have the opportunity to possibly troubleshoot the issue as i have no way to test if its my connection on halo 5. other games and even game types work fine. fort nite, black ops,mvc3 and even war zone work great.

Sorry for the confusion, but I was scared I was permanently banned because I didn’t receive the banhammer notification it only said you were banned. But after a couple hours I was able to play again.

The ban system is automated. I’ve yet to see a ban removed. Disconnections are listed as one of the reasons that the hammer can drop. As for the 3 days part, the bans start of short (a couple of minutes) and get progressively longer with subsequent infractions, so you would have to have been banned quite a few times to get to that point. In order to prevent future bans you might want to troubleshoot your connection issues. You can use the search feature to locate quite a few threads that discuss way to help maintain connection to the servers.

You probably dismissed the notification without realizing it. You only receive it once and a few people have missed it.

That sucks. I’ve had the same problem but fortunately I didn’t get banned that time anyway. You would think since their computer is so smart they could write some code around the damage that splinter gernades do so it doesn’t recognize wether it was a teammate or an enemy player. It’s not like you carry a dozen of S. grenades waiting to ambush your own teammates.

hey i banned. for nothing. and im banned. form everything. but custom games plz help
