Okay. Again. I quit one game today(out of the at least twenty I’ve played.) And I got banned. 24 hours now instead of nine. I should be allowed to quit a game a day. I do my best to not quit any game. It’s just the rare occasions that I get a game where two others quit and all that is left Is little kids with only 1 kill. This is ridiculous. Fix your banning 343.
If two of my teammates quit and the game is a complete waste then I shouldn’t get banned for quiting as well. When I’m on here to play I’m on here to play! Not to mention you’ve now tied our ranking to winning and losing and a 2 against 4 game probably isn’t going to go well for anyone. Especially since your newest update completely ruined your already poor matchmaking algorithms!!! Fix it! Also, if I pay this much for a game you better damn well be appreciative of that an realize WE are your bread and butter! Cut this banning crap NOW!!! Or it’s back to COD I go. 343 has already jacked the franchise and now they think they can jack my ability to play MY game! Nope!
This banning system is complete crap. I was playing with friends when suddenly it put me back into the lobby saying waiting to join session match in progress, no error message nothing that said I lost connection. Now it says I’m banned for leaving too many matches. This is second time today I’ve been banned for not being connected to the match. How can I fix this? What can I do to stop getting banned because this is getting old.
i was banned from lagging out of 1 game?
will this continue to happen where you get banned for having a laggy connection (1 in every 20 games or so). If so can there be some form of statement about this? id rather not continue to play if i am at risk of longer and longer bans for being in EU.

All your dnfs add up to a ban, so on your match history you can see all the other games you’ve disconnected from/left. Unfortunately I dont think 343i’s system has a way to differentiate between all the disconnects and leaves.

Thats a pain. The only games i actually leave on purpose is in warzone when i join late and its 500+ to less than 100. (i dont even spawn, ill look at the score and if they are spawn trapped or something i leave).
I’ve been getting banned after “connection lost to server” occurs after the game ends… what gives???
I’ve just finished a game of griffball, while it was going back to the lobby i got a message saying “your console has lost connection” and i see that i got banned, lol, wtf? I only quitted one match before this
I think that if we want to quit a match in a game that we payed for, we should be able to. We shouldn’t even have to give an excuse of what caused us to quit or why we had to quit (i.e. lag, important phone call, emergency, lost connection), we should just be able to QUIT!

When you buy a game you pay for a licence to use the software, you don’t actually own it. On buying and playing the game you agree to the terms set out by 343 / Microsoft or which ever developer has made it and part of that extends to your conduct while playing. There is nothing to stop you from quitting and generally nobody will say anything if you have to leave a match for something urgent, IRL stuff does happen, but when you quit, AFK or team kill enough to trigger the ban hammer, you have to face the consequences.

So we have to face consequences for bad servers as well? If I get banned for leaving an unplayable match, where Spartans glitch there way through time and space, and bullets go around walls, or flat out get dropped from Arena Matches for unknown reasons other than “Connection Lost”, I have to get punished like the Deranker or the Ragequitter?
Also, why doesn’t this happen as often in Warzone? I’ve only been dropped from 2 or 3 Warzone matches, but in the Arena I can’t go a day without 2 or more dropped games. Hell, FINDING a match in arena takes twice as long as a getting into a Warzone match. Or is this just another subtle scheme to try and get me to buy REQ packs… huh…

Are you -Yoinking!- serious? Is that what you guys are calling it now?? We don’t even own our games? Maybe you should adjust the price tag if I’m renting it at your good graces.

Are you not listening? People are being banned for leaving one match. The broken banhammer doesn’t know why we left, urgent or not, it sticks us with a ban anyway. So, is this going to be fixed at any point? Cause it’s unecessarily harsh.

I’m very serious, it’s how software and games have operated for years. You don’t physically own the software you simply own a licence to use that software, no different from buying a copy of Windows or Photoshop. Ownership of the software / code remains with those who created it.
To be clear here on something, I do not work for 343 at all, i’m just a volunteer that helps out on the forums.

From every case I have reviewed on these forums since the game launched, I have yet to come across 1 legitimate case where a user has been banned because of leaving a single match.

I completely agree, which is why I stated “we payed for” and not “we own”. As we all know there’s hardly any digital content that we “the consumer” actually own, as the agreements to these Licenses and TOS leave very few rights to us. Interestingly enough, all digital content (not just Halo or video games) has these “agreements” (if we continue to call them that, as the majority of us, and if I may, you too, don’t necessarily agree to every term) that we’re required to agree with, should we wish to use or play said service. I understand that by playing a game, I agree that whoever is providing the service has the right to limit or discontinue my use of said service, due to my conduct. However, it hardly seems fair to limit or discontinue my use of the service, when it isn’t know whether it was my conduct or not that caused me to, in our case, quit the game.

Actually, not wanting to be banned is keeping me from quitting. I don’t want to quit matches, I want to play the game and have fun. I also won’t lie, I play horribly sometimes, and I know I’m being no help to my team, so it’s only fair to them that I take myself out of the game. I would want someone to do the same for me, if they were holding the team back. However, currently, I’m left to choose between 2 horrible options, #1 quit and be banned, or #2 stay and cause my team to suffer.
In all I understand that it’s difficult to create an effective banning system that is strict, but not in the way of hindering users or removing the fun. Here’s hoping that eventually the system will be at least a little more lenient. Thank you all for your time, and reading these relatively boring paragraphs, J
Smiley face added to “lighten the mood”.
Can anyone confirm how the bans work across warzone and arena?
I had a very short ban a couple of weeks ago.
I have quit a number of warzone games since I’ve had the game, and assume they counted to my ban. (not dozens of quits, but a handful.)
I have very very rarely quit any arena list. I’d guess less than 5 since having the game.
I did have a run of being booted from warzone for a couple of weeks due to interwebs issues. But have rarely been booted from Arena.
I copped the ban (short though it was) after being the second person to quit a slayer game which had deteriorated to farce (due to first quitter, tbh).
Strangely, I could still play Warzone.
I did quit the game, just curious if warzone and arena quits count, and if total quits come into it, without factoring in games played in between.
So I was playing a game of Fiesta Slayer and I quit the game. Something I don’t like doing since it angers me so much when other players do it (I don’t care as much in social playlists but still) but I have to every now and again for one reason or another. So I quit the game and once I came back to my Xbox after about 10 minutes I jumped into a Slayer match. The game ended and I had the usual menu screen loading and all that, but then I got an error message saying “your system lost connection to Xbox Live services” or something however I’m still connected to Xbox Live. After this message shows up, I can’t join any games because I’m banned and the worst part is, this isn’t the first time it has happened, more like the third or fourth. I quit a game, then play another fully and when it ends, get a connection error message before being banned. I think before it has been 5 minutes or something but this time it was half an hour. A half hour ban? For quitting a game once? Even twice if you count me being disconnected even though the game had finished.
Whilst I’m glad there is actually a ban system being implemented into the game I can’t quite understand it since I’m being banned for a long period of time for no reason at all? Can someone please explain why this may be happening or if it has happened to them too?
Problem with bans is, it counts disconnections from the game as MANUALLY LEAVING. I use a legendary boost only to get lagged out and get banned. I don’t hate the ban system, it just needs tweaking.
I left one game because it wouldn’t let me leave the match made party and got a one minute ban after coming back from months of not playing. Really you’re going to nickle and dime people because of your system error? I’d understand if it was 2 or 3 matches quit in a day but I haven’t been on in months.
you got banned 1 because you betray people on your team and or you where afk for a long time and or you quit more than once in a row
Look can we fix the issue of not knowing how long someone gets banned?
Everytime I get banned I have no clue whatsoever for how long do I have to wait
Not to mention quitting a game because someone is camping on your spawn point shouldn’t cause a ban but whatever
