I don’t see a reason why I was banned or anything: Though I have quit a lot of matches(That was a long time ago I think). Idk. Please tell me why I was banned, How long I was banned for, and if it is permanent is there a place to appeal?

Could you tell me how long the ban is after you have been banned for 2 hours? That was my last ban a while back. I also am wondering, I got on 2 days after my ban(recent) and I was still banned. So does that mean I got banned for something else? Idk, why I am banned. Could you look in to it please? Thanks so much for your help.

If your last known ban was 2 hours in length, then you could expect your next one to be 3 or 4 hours. If you were still banned 2 days later, that could be indicating a much worse situation. Either another temp ban kicked in during your off time, or you were permanently banned for something serious like cheating. There is no way to determine what is going on with your account aside from 343i themselves looking into your account, which they rarely do. If you’re worried about spending money on Xbox Live while you are still banned from Halo, maybe try going to a froend’s place with an Xbox and log into your gamer tag from there, put Halo 5 on it and try to play. Otherwise, your only option to check if you’re still banned is to pay for a month of gold and check yourself.
apparently in the latest game of infection on malignant i got banned im not sure what for but look at the clip and you would see i did not use any mods or hacks in the game nor did i violate the terms of service agreement the last two games i admit i did suicide due to bad roll of weapons trying to get suppresser or smg or storm rifle it kept giving rockets and shotguns and other weapons i did not wish to get or have so how in the heck did i end up getting banned in the first place? for being to good at alpha zombies since i played it on reach wtf guys im more confused than a homeless guy under house arrest and whats the banned for 20:04? is that minutes days hours and year im not to clear on this

As it says on the first page of this thread, the timer for bans is read as Days : Hours : Minutes : Seconds. As for your ban, it’s not because you did “too well” in a game of Infection. The banhammer typically runs one game late. Based on your game history and your own testimony, there are a couple of Super Fiesta games that you did not finish because you suicided too much trying to roll for better weapons. The system picked up on this behavior and then applied your ban after your next completed game, which was your Infection match on Malignant.
I’m thoroughly unimpressed by the banhammer. I’m new to Halo 5, but have been a persistent player from the beginning of the series, which is to say I’m not new to the experience.
I’ve spent all evening in slayer with no matches finishing with all 8 players remaining, leading to a less than amusing experience. In my most recent game, the rest of my team quit, leaving myself against 4 on a map I am not familiar enough with to even pretend to put up a fight. My response to that was to go get a drink to at least take the edge off the frustration. In the 2 minutes I was gone, I was kicked for idling, and banned for 8 minutes. What irks me so, is that if the banhammer was really effective, would there be such an early quitting theme? Instead, it kicked a guy who had played 6 minutes minutes of a game, and then stopped moving for 2. Idling is bad, but that’s a little quick on the trigger, I think. Especially since it’s the first time that happened.
Ultimately, I think it’s a good idea, just poorly implemented.
A Snow Samurai The system looks for patterns such as idling, quitting early, betraying, and suicides. These all can get you banned. Going idle because people quit on you is still not right. Yes it is frustrating to have it happen. Best way to take these kind of things, is to use the Reach approach, fight until it’s over.
I was banned hammered for no reason at all, I don’t quit games and don’t betray team mates at all. Seriously? I happened to fall off the map accidentally 2 times in a row, the second time lagging me out of the game, and I get banned? I’ve spent countless hours and money playing this game, and this happens? Really?

The ban hammer automatically triggers for a multitude of behaviors; mostly, those behaviors involve not finishing games. Quitting is not the only way you can not finish a game; you can get booted for betrayals, suicides, and inactivity. Additionally, network issues that cause DNFs can also result in a ban, because the system cannot differentiate between an accidental disconnect and an intentional one.
Looking at your game history, I don’t see an indication that you habitually do not finish games. When the ban message popped up, what did it say was the cause of your ban, and what did the ban timer say?

Showed a ban hammer message for “griefing” team mates and banned me for a few minutes I think.
Is it possible to get banned due to a glitch or some random occurrence in the game? For example, I noticed that when the game kicked me after my second accidental fall, it made a really weird noise like static. Anyways, just curious, I play this legit and just don’t want negative strikes going against me that aren’t justified.

I don’t think glitches and bans are connected, unless a glitch causes you to get disconnected/booted from a game, resulting in a DNF (and then the DNF could trigger a ban). I imagine that strange noise you heard was the game trying to reconcile a sudden disconnect with whatever game audio was happening at the time of the boot. I’ve never heard of a case where a person was banned for absolutely nothing, though I have heard of cases of the banhammer applying to first-time offenses or being overly sensitive. Perhaps that is what happened to you. Griefing teammates usually refers to betraying, but I guess suiciding too often could fall under that.

Yeah that make sense, I went back and reviewed what happened, first I killed myself with rockets, then missed both of my jumps back to back. So, basically I died 3 times in a row by accident, but I’m assuming that’s enough to trigger it?

Three suicides in a short amount of time can get you an instant boot.
Why is it that Halo 5 forces us to get destroyed and lower our KDA when our teammate quits in doubles? I got 2v1 the entire match and finally quit, and it banned me. I’ve never quit before. This is ridiculous. IDC that it’s a 10 min ban it shouldn’t be that way. I’d rather quit than take a HUGE KDA hit when I’m working to build it up and get better. There is so much wrong with Halo 5, esp after the update (I know the bans weren’t part of that) it really makes me not want to play anymore.

Why do people think KDA is everything? Also, the banhammer runs one game behind, so something you did there got you a ban.

Sounds like you encountered a rare issue where the soft forfeit feature didn’t trigger because the game started you off in a 1v2 situation. Normally, if someone on your team quits first during a ranked match, anyone who quits after won’t have to worry about a ban. Sometimes, though, if people quit the game before it starts, then it seems like the soft forfeit system doesn’t see it as the first quit. It’s an unfortunate issue but 343i is aware of it.
I just accidentally suicided 4 times on one of the anniversary maps. It was a complete set of accidents. I am not all that familiar with the map and it has areas that are really easy to fall to your death. This is a bit outrageous that i was banned just as I started playing today. Can you please remove my ban.

Four times would trigger the ban hammer. I have never herd of bans being removed. So if it is your first ban, then the time should not be that long. You will just have to wait it out.

Yeah, it came back relatively soon. I do find it a little irritating that previous gameplay is not taken into account when things like this happen. To jump to an immediate ban is a little over the top.
That´s obvious that it would come this rule… and its fair to the others, that instead have 3 players with them, sudntly have 2, 1 or none as it already happen with me several times.
I was banned today and i’m already palying it again.
Having a 3 years old daughter makes me stop playing for any reason as take her to the bathroom… those are normal things in our lives.
We have to understand the other and the other have to understand us.
Now dont say that you never quit a game… please, that,s Bllsht. Like you said before, how many games you enter that were slow, or no one seems to now how to play and just quit to play the next???
